The E6430 at work seem to use dynamic TOLUD, so no DSDT override needed for me.
Could you please give me some details about your config? I am curious why we have a difference although we seem to have the same device... I have an i5, no dgpu, no cardreader, no fingerprint reader and did the initial config with 4GB of RAM (but upgraded to 8 lately).

Guys please can you help me. I'm new to the eGPU game and I am considering a EXP GDC for my Dell Latitude E6430 with EC slot. All I want to know is the software required? Do I need to do any of the chainloading stuff like you have to do with a PE4H or is it all plug and play. Thankyou in advance
I also have an E6430, but only with an i5 and no dgpu. I am running Win8.1 and had to do dsdt override, but besides this, no further modification was needed. Keep in mind that for dsdt override to work, you need to enable testsigning in win8 and win8.1!

No system data at all amongst the benchmark results. Systeminfo is cactus. Have you update your SystemInfo to the lates 4.26 version? SystemInfo support - Futuremark . If still no go after that then consider doing a fresh Windows installation as a fix.
Yes, tried every combination of uninstall/reboot/reinstall/prev.version... I won't reinstall my OS because of a stupid benchmarking component. Skyrim is working @1600x900 on my internal LCD , so I'm finished.
If anyone has any other suggestions for fixing SystemInfo so I can contribute my results to the database here, please let me know!

I have no clue what happened, but no version of 3dmark is able to run properly anymore Each and every one of them starts with crashing the Futuremark SystemInfo process... Several rounds of reinstall (even the drivers) did not help, so now I'm giving up. Windows reinstall is a nogo atm, and of course I did not made any system restore points... Without that component, my results are not valid and have no hw details
If there is anything that doesn't use the SystemInfo component, please let me know!
So I got pissed with the performance of the 560Ti and sold it, now there is an MSI GTX 760 Mini in my EXP GDC and an additional 4GB of RAM
I still have a problem with 3dmark (every version), but managed to do a run with 3DM11: Generic VGA video card benchmark result - Unknown,

Compare against a similar specced system at http://forum.techinferno.com/diy-e-gpu-projects/6578-implementations-thunderbolt-expresscard-mpcie-egpus.html#post89707 to see if you are getting the correct level of performance.
So I finally managed to do some tests... Seems my setup is performing according to what it is capable bjorm has a similar setup to my, so I did some comparisons just as you suggested. Dx11: Result DX9: Result
I may need a better GPU? Funny thing is that neither the cpu fan nor the gpu fan are dialed up during benchmarks...
-
As far as I know, the Macbook Air does not have an expresscard slot and the mpcie implementation is also a nogo. And also afaik there is no thunderbolt version of the EXP GDC.
How are you planning to connect the external gpu?
-
That thing looks even more industrial than the PE4L
Did he rip you off?
No, not me - it was not convincing enough for me based on the pictures so I went for the EXP GDC. But two local guys were complaining. To be fair: In the meantime it turned out he had some kind of life issues so we shall wait and see...

eGPU Hungarian Version?
Yes, but atm you should not order anything from him - seems the guy is offline and not shipping/responding to paying customers

Please let me know if I should post this to another topic...
So about performance: I ran 3dmark and got disappointing results. My igpu did around 40k score at the Ice Storm test and the egpu GTX560Ti scored only 18k: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 560 Ti video card benchmark result - Intel Core i5-3320M Processor,Dell Inc. 0CPWYR
Is this normal? Any suggestions what I could configure differently?

E6430 would have the same issue with TOLUD=3.5GB that I had with the E6230 in http://forum.techinferno.com/diy-e-gpu-projects/2747-%5Bguide%5D-12-dell-e6230-gtx660%40x1-2opt-hd7870%40x1-2-pe4l-ec060a-2-1b.html#post37197 . Fortunately, mine dynamically adjusted down to 3.25GB from a mix of installing more RAM and getting the eGPU detected by the bios once on bootup . You could try the same. If that doesn't work for you then the solution is to use a DSDT override/substitution to allow the eGPU to be hosted outside of 36/64-bit pcie space. You may also need Setup 1.x to preallocated the eGPU into that area if Windows isn't willing to do it.
Nando4, thanks! I tried DSDT override yesterday without success, but today I found an MSDN article where it is explained that DSDT override is disabled in Win8.1 by default. To enable it, you have to switch testsigning ON via bcdedit. After I found this out, everything went smooth Now the card is recognised and I have no error12 anymore. According to GPU-Z I am at PCI-E 1.1 x16@x1 1.1
Update: With some load according to GPU-Z the bus changes to PCI-E 2.0 x16@x1 2.0

Hi All,
I have an error 12 with the following setup:
Dell E6430 - Core i5, 4GB RAM, only igp, MBR
EXP GDC with Expresscard
MSI GTX 560 Ti
I need some assistance where to start fixing my issue...
-
I just got home with a nice MSI GTX 560 Ti wish me luck, I will set it up and report back in a few minutes.
Well.... Error 12 here, so I will need to do some wizardry to get it working
Dell E6430, only igp, and only 4GB RAM - I was hoping I will avoid getting here... Seems Win8.1 was a bad choice for this setup.
Anyone can help me out? I started reading the instructions but got lost after a few steps. Isn't there anything that doesn't need me to alter system files?

Nice Sonec!
Then I'll have to say welcome to the EXP GDC family
I think you like this setup much better than the old PE4L fossils!
Well, let's not say anything bad abot the PE4L. There are many satisfied users of that solution and they gathered a lot of experience that we might also use...And I don't want to say anything about my setup until it is up and running
Btw, any suggestions for what card I should buy? I only have an i5 in my laptop, so for starters I am aiming for a GTX560Ti.

Many thanks, Sonek!
How is that PCI-E power cable going to be used?
Please see annotations below (and forgive my limited paint skills ):
You can see a complete setup here (from the product's detail page - animated gif):
(Just noticed: pictured below is a v5.8, but never mind, the principle is exactly the same)
Noric: thanks for correcting the gif!

was the package content as I explained earlier? Yes, please post some picsYes. They clearly told me that I won't receive an EU power cord and I didn't everything else is like described.

I just opened my package that arrived surprisingly quick. I made some pictures, if there is interest, I can post them here!
Not powered it on since I don't have any VGA to put into it - expected it to arrive at least two weeks from now... I will borrow a test card tomorrow from a friend, but I only know that it will be an Nvidia one, so don't expect any real benchmark results yet...

So you cleared that up, that's great!
Then you'll receive the same stuff as I did in a custom paper box (EXP GDC logo print) including:
- Dell PSU
- EXP GDC
- PCIe 6-pin special power cable
- ATX special power cable
- EC/mPCIe -cable.
$96 is a bargain
This is the item/link you bought from right?
Yep, that is the link!

- Dell PSU

Hi Sonek!
Just checking up on your order, how did it go?
And did you order it from yoybuy for ~$100 total (incl PSU)?
It is important that we help the seller (Cloud Hero) improve the shopping experience, therefore I'd like to hear as much feedback as possible regarding ordering.
Hi Jacobsson!
Yes, I did order the ~$100 package ($93 to be exact). Had a few rounds of chat with "Flora" to clear what is included - just to make sure that psu and 6pin power cable is included. Because there are only Chinese annotations on the pictures, this was a bit tricky. One suggestion based on this: please ask him/her/them to make a set of "marketing pictures" with English text... Everything is pictured fine, I just can't understand a word
Order shipped 6 days ago, I just have to wait around 3 more weeks... I will report back as soon as I get the package!

Nice! Remember not many here except me has tested this adapter. I like it and it works great for me but I can't guarantee it'll work for you.
No worries, we are all just "testing" an experimental adapter, aren't we?

Hmm I got a power brick included last time I bought one from there. Also got the the pci-e power cable.
Great. Then I will go on and order one
Edit: Strange, it tells me the package will be 0,19 kg. Seems a bit lightweight for a power brick this size...
-
Checked the site, found the exp gdc v6 but still can't read Chinese... There is a picture with the power brick along with a list - it could be a "what's included in the package" list, but I'm not sure and I can't find any online picture translator that gives me a human readable output...

Hi All,
I am thinking about building an egpu config using my Dell E6430 (i5-3320m, no dgpu) and the EXP GDC v6.0. My initial questions are:
- where can I order the exp gdc with the dell power brick (and additional 2x6pin power cable) on some pictures? (I am located in Europe) Found only some chinese sites with varying info details and no paypal payment options...
- do I understand correctly that using the power brick I don't need any other power source? (thinking about a nice box in the long run)
- will it give me the full Gen2 pci-e bandwidth like the pe4l?
- has anyone had this config before?
Thanks!

Maybe the added components influence the addressing... Or is it only the amount of memory?
