Yes, I removed the thermal pads and put the thermal paste

Oh is the foam packing you put that black little rectangular thing?
Sent from my iPod touch using Tapatalk
yes, below it

must go under the black piece of iron that is screwed with the two screws on top of the sink, open the photo for a better look, the 2 you should clarify all
-
was added on top of the card in order to block the air that goes up the middle and then funneling it all sink in, GPU die only if the air is blocked between the fan and the heat sink, even if 90 degrees is thy hope all automatically
-
Finish , but i like new color xD , I think I paint it back on the light blue / light blue: P
I left it as aluminum, another hack was take the card and paste it under the fan so that the air is projected into the sink and in fact now putting his hand behind you hear a large amount of air to escape, thanks to with all this metal gear rising to reach the maximum 63°!

Hi everyone, I recently upgraded my r2 from a 5870 to a 7970, you know how the results are amazing even if it is a machine "old" today I'm going to do it gray / silver, while it warmed up I was looking for some way to turn down the temperature further for the new card, what I have seen and also noticed is that the dispersion of the air does not go 100% in the sink but also the revenue side open very little, this causes to people like me who want to use the pc on bed to overheat even if it is in idle or some light gaming (imperium etc.), the method and fully open the holes;
first:
Removing logos with hot air gun:
Next:
I wanted to paint my alienware also because I got broken in the first slot of the video card, thanks to the fiberglass has adjusted all without leaving a trace;
first:
Next and painted:
then I put a piece of foam packing between the heatsink and the piece that screws on it after this mod I had a cooler 10-15 degrees! , Another thing I did change the pads and thermal paste even just putting on the inductors at the top of the card, removing the pad has a greater pressure on the heat sink and thus lower temperatures, then I removed the aluminum and even under them added to other thermal paste (it is not very useful because you will earn a few degrees):
as soon as I finish painting the top part of the perfectly place photo:Banane06:

ok thanks, I had already seen and I ordered the only thing I've seen and if that is compatible with the samsung ltn170tc08 d01 should be the 1920x1200 display rgb led truelife, I do not see a second connector for backlight

Hi all, I would like to make a upgrade to a 1440x900 screen from 1920x1200rgb truelife (J2CY8), now what I was wondering since the LED display lights and not sure you need to remove the drive but I need another cable to connect the screen to the motherboard or why I okay? Also because I saw that there is only one kind, thank you.
-
if you had artifacts on the screen I hate to say it but it is a card ko, one method is a reballing / reflowing it, it would be useless to change the VBIOS if you have not touched
-
understand sin, but it looks like a problem with the card, you could do a reflow or reballing to make it work 100% function
-
if you have artifacts on the screen is a problem with your video card, try to see the temperatures in my case because even at idle were much less than the 5870 but just started a 3d boom shut down suddenly, I thought so too a problem / driver but in the end was the temperature that spurted from 40 degrees to 90 and could not even monitor (because as said battery worked perfectly even in games!), I suggest you take the laptop apart (only the keyboard) and put pressure on heatsink of the video card and see if at least the test 3d windows goes smoothly
-
hello, it was precisely the problem (I came to this conclusion before your message), at the beginning I thought an issue of driver / software since the battery (even though he was castrated very say 2/3 of its actual power was all well) by disassembling the laptop and pemendo by turning on the heat sink I saw that it is not perfectly pressed on the gpu, this is not a problem but you have to change the mounting screws of the heatsink. This is because the 5870m uses an x-bracket with mounting low while the 7970M has the media high, the fix is to remove the screws from the series and change them with any of the important thing is that come without any kind of problem, I do not understand why not it says this in the various installations r2 leave some photos:
maximum temperature with 100% underload (sniper elite 2 filters, and more all at the most) 83 degrees (much more fresh 5870m)

hello to everyone I come from Italy and luigi is I'm trying to run my 7970M on the M17x r2 :S
-
Hello everyone, I purchased a 7970M for my m17x r2, mounted the card it works fine but when I try to open a game or benchmark windows 7 the system shuts down, having the 150w adapter that was what I thought but now having bought from 240w to the same thing happens ... the bios is 015 022 and I know that is not compatible (unfortunately I read it just now) but I made a downgrade and I did not have any problem even at 015 017 but the problem remains , the board is of, I hope that you give me some advice thanks!
ps: battery also works all the games just that your video card does not go to full speed by entering maximizes performance
