Hi again!

Yesterday i installed the new bios mod that svl7 provided! (3.05)

Smooth install and everything went fine!

I didn't have the time to play around with it yet but will prob do it later 2 day.

I haven't tired it my self on my lenovo y510p. But i guess it´s you just flash your "original" bios that you backed up before installing the 2.07 Bios. Shouldn't be any problem i guess.

I used this on my computer with 3.05 BIOS

First you should go to this post and download the tool to backup your bios as they are now. Before doing any mod installation. After you have made a backup file save that file some were that you can remember it because your Windows key is in it.

Then download the downgrade file from this post and downgrade to 2.07 BIOS.

Then make another backup of the new 2.07 BIOS and then use the BIOS fixer from the first post again to install the mod to it.

Then you flash the new bios you just made, as they say in the first post.

Don´t forget to follow the instructions on these posts. This worked great for me and had no problems.

Downgrading/modding resets some of your BIOS settings.

Boot into BIOS either with the left side button or F2 while booting up.

Switch everything to legacy mode.

Disable secure boot.

That should do it, I believe. Did for me.

I had 3.05 bios and downgraded to 2.07 and then tock a backup of the bios on 2.07 and then made the modification as the instructions said and then flashed it and no problem what so ever.

though i have noticed that when i restart my computer it restarts and the lenovo screen shows up and then it stays there for a while and then it restarts again.

Anyone who has the same problem?

Not sure if this is the right thread to ask this.

I have newly bought a Lenovo Y510P and was wondering about Clean installation of Windows 8.1.

The computer i bought came with Windows 8.1 core.

And since there is no way for me to get an ISO of the OS to make a clean install i had some questions.

Can i use any OEM Windows 8.1 ISO and still get it to "sync" with the key in my bios.

Or do I have to have the exact OEM image to make it work.

I know this was the case in Windows 7 but since this Windows 8.1 is a bit more complex it might be possible now?

I live in Sweden and this would realy help me if this is the case.

Has anyone installed Windows 8.1 on the second M.2 sata port? How did you do it? My computer came with Windows 8.1 from the store. Anyway to get a clean Windows 8.1 image to install the second M.2 sata with? Or is the only option to clone the existing hdd to the M.2 sata port?

I would go with the Liteon WB222 since i have had bad experience with Broadcom cards before.

But that´s only my opinion. PPL here seam to go with Intel rather then other PCI Express Half Mini Cards. just saying that might be a good enough reason to go with it.

I would go for the Liteon WB222 one hands down. I have had so many bad memories with Broadcom.

But that's just my opinion.

If u followed the instructions they all say that before you do anything make a backup of your existing Bios so if something go wrong you can restore it. And your Windows key is also stored in the Bios so if u did not back it up i think you might have problems.

So i heard a few tings about the MyDigitalSSD 128GB, some ppl having problems with them.

Are they defective or do they not perform as they should?

I just ordered one yesterday and hope it works as it should.

I also installed a 256GB SSD instead of the original one. So far the boot time/ shut down time is under 10-15 sec and works really good.

I was wondering if there is a way to change the hardware ID of the Wifi card instead of flashing modded BIOS?

I just got some alternative Wlan cards to test this out with. Intel® Centrino® Advanced-N 6235, anyone tested whit this one yet?

Also have a dualband atheros card. I also have a card with 3 antennas from intel witch used to sit in a samsung laptop.

Do you think that will work?

I have the same problem and want a better Wifi card. Cant wait untill it arrives! I also ordered a M.2 SSD 128GB to put in my M.2 slot on the motherboard.
