My BIOS is modded, but I upgraded the wireless card in my Lenovo Y510p to an Intel 7260 AC. My range has increased quite a bit along with throughput. I'll likely be picking up an AC router in a couple of months when the next revision of the ASUS AC rolls around.

I picked up my Intel 7260 AC wireless card on Amazon. It was pretty cheap, delivered quickly and packaged well.

The Intel 7260 AC wireless card was pretty easy to install in the Lenovo Y510p. One screw holds in the wireless card, and since the 7260 AC is 2x2 you don't need to do any antenna modifications. I don't know if you need a modded BIOS to allow the particular 7260 AC that I got. I did anyways as it provides some additional benefits.

I totally agree. That's the exact wireless card i picked up. I couldn't be happier with it, the price was right and once the whitelist was removed from the bios all the connectivity issues my y510 was having were gone.

I have the same issue with my y510p, and I can't figure it out for the life of me. Is there any way to maybe disable the Lenovo power manager or fully remove it?

Is there anyway after reverting back to a stock non modded bios that either lenovo (for warranty reapair) or say a third party (buying the machine second hand) can find any evidence of tampering with said bios?

I wouldn't think you would want the fan quieter, because that would mean it was running at slower speeds, and not doing as well of a job at cooling the machine.

I know you can get them direct from Lenovo, you get that O.E.M. quality so no fitment issues, but they are like 200 dollars which to me seems to be a little steap!

Is there any mod at all that can allow the NP9390-S to use a 120hz screen yet?

Really struggling to find any new games that captivate my interested. I loved Tomb Raider and Bioshock Infinite but I'm struggling to love Far Cry 3, Crysis 3 and Metro Last Light and probably won't complete these titles.

I think I value a really good story and would be willing to try older games, I just need something to play!

I am aware of steam summer sale and am keeping a close eye on what is cheap but still haven't seen anything I want to play.

I'd really appreciate some recommendations and why specifically you liked that game.

Thats funny because I was the same I just couldn't get myself to love Crysis, Its definitely a good game I just dont find myself really wanting to play it.

how do you check your current bios version?

I'm pretty sure you can also check on startup by hitting the F2 key during boot.

the ultrabay seems like a great but very poorly executed idea. i assumed when i picked my y510p up that there would be swap out options available from lenovo as i opted for the sli rather than an optical drive its frustrating shell out good money on a decent laptop with a low end wifi card and a lack of options for the ultrabay and a locked bios. those things are almost a deal breaker for me. next time i upgrade to a new laptop i will definitely look into other options

It would be a fantastic idea if they actually followed through with it. Instead you just get stuck with what you have.

Thanks for your reply and correct. What do you mean by manually disable the 2 GPUs? I already disabled the second GT 750 though Computer-Manage-Device manager, but I am unable to use HD 4600. Should I disable both of GT 750? I am afraid I would see a black screen and nothing more.

Thats what happened to me I had to perform a factory reset of the BIOS to fix it.
