  1. I have only gamed with regular stereo headphones, Grado SR60s. So just wondering if surround headphones would be worth it.

    In short, no.

    Long answer below.

Since this is a old thread, and this is related. Do any of the 5.1/7.1 headphones, sound just like listening to a true 5.1/7.1 discreet speaker system? I mean when playing games can you really tell where each sound comes from? And are they good for movies? And do they come with a microphone that works with the built in laptop sound system, or is usb better? And good review sites?

Good 5.1 and 7.1 headsets provide good positional sound. So yes, you can tell which direction it is coming from.

Unfortunately, the tradeoff is sound quality in general.

The drivers are very small due to size constraints (and having to fit in a lot of them), which results in very narrow frequency band (typically bass suffers the most).

And, for stereo headphones, you can use some kind of headphone virtualization (e.g. Dolby Headphone), which gives nearly as good positioning with much wider frequency range...

  2. Hi,

I'm using the Performance Mouse MX since 1,5 years and i like it a lot.

You can configure it not in so much ways, but i have big hands and i like how it feels.

It has the "Darkfield" sensor and you can use it on pretty much every ground.

    I have one as well.

It's definitely not a great gaming mouse, though (and not designed to be one).

First of all, there is considerable input lag due to wireless connection.

Secondly, it's very heavy, which generally slows down your reaction.

I could recommend Razer Deathadder 2013. It's light, comfortable and very precise, but durability concerns are stopping me from dragging it around with my laptop.

Logitech G400 is a good option. Build like a tank and inexpensive. Very good sensor, too.

  3. I have the y410p and I'm just trying to understand if it will be possible to upgrade the GPU in 4-5 years. When I tried to look for purchase options, I couldn't find anyone selling mobile GPUs. Are every GPU connector so different that you wouldn't be able to fit a 755m into a 750m? Are graphics card manufacturers holding a monopoly on laptop GPUs, and justifying it by saying that laptops are much harder to open and upgrade.

It all depends on a particular laptop.

MXM is used quite often. But, then again, it does not a guarantee that you can upgrade your GPU (e.g. ASUS uses MXM in RoG laptops, but the shape and size of the PCB are custom). Cooling can also be a problem (heatsink not fitting new positions of RAM and GPU).

Most laptops these days actually have GPU boards soldered, and there is little you can do.

You can typically upgrade Alienware and Clevo laptops (since they keep reusing the same chassis for different hardware).

In your case upgrading is not possible.
