It's funny how right-clicking the new start button has so much more functionality than the left-click.

I have the Cooler Master SF-19 and it does a GREAT job of keeping my y510p cool. Of course, it needs and external power source, but that's a plus for me.

Does anyone know if they still make the USB 3.0 version of the sf-19?

The drivers on the Synaptics website really helped me out. It's still not the greatest touchpad in the world, but it's manageable .

That's a pretty impressive mod! Lucky for me, my cousin had a Cooler Master SF-19 that does a pretty good job of keeping mine cool. I'm not sure how most cooling pads affect the y500, though. I'd imagine not too much.
