  1. Long story short, having issues getting FPS to hover where it once did, sits around 10 or so now, I'm not sure where I should start but I've run out of options and I've been at this for too damn long

M17x r3 HDD is 6 years old - my thoughts it's finally had enough and that's my issue ( unsure )

680m with 382.33 from may I believe, had the most recent installed, not as bad as now but still, 10 FPS and unplayable. Had upgraded to windows 10, drivers never installed or worked properly at all when it did install once, re formatted back to windows 7 with cd from purchase, now nothing runs as close to what it once did

I've checked updates/drivers for mobo, direct x, bios is set to peg, audio drivers, windows updates, prefer max performance

Could it be my ac adapter? vBios?

Temps from what I've seen are fine, I've let it run for a while with a game open while getting under 20'fps, minimized st 6fps to check CPU and gpu temps both were under 60 Celsius.

I'm lost here, if anyone has insight or could just even give me something else to try it would be very much so appreciated. I've been struggling for days with this and I know the damn thing is capable of running at least a few of these games with at least 60 FPS, 40 even would be acceptable for those that I expect 60+

Sorry for the lengthy messy post, I'm stressing and struggling to get this going again. New PC isn't in question yet.. though I am saving towards it

  2. I've been struggling with updating drivers after installing windows 10 (m17xr3 680m) either it corrupts and I can't modify the file properly, or it just fails after 10% install ??? At first the newest drivers downloaded - but wouldn't display to my monitor. Now I just can't get drivers installed period. What the hell is going wrong? I've tried nvdmi / nv_dispi / nvam I've disabled driver signing I've updated am I missing something like damn java ? What is it. Days of this ugh any insight would help. Just reformatted as well

What's your hardware ID and what OS are you using? And are you using optimus or dedicated?

those are what i found for hardware ids.. no idea what you mean sorry lol. Windows 7, probably dedicated considering I've never heard of optimus. What should I do? Runs like crap. Can't do anything. S

  4. Have you run a ThrottleStop log file yet while gaming? This will show if your CPU is being throttled. It is hard to figure out a problem if you don't have some numbers to look at. Turn on GPU temperature monitoring as well in ThrottleStop so that data is included in your log.

Well this is delayed.. Thanks I will do that,

  5. Hmmm maybe I should have checked that out. Would have been worth a shot, not sure if I added any conclusion to this issue but it seemed to resolve itself after swapping the 460m for a 680m. Wish I knew what was actually the issue, was probably what you said tho mw86.. As after I installed the cArd I installed a diff bios..

  6. This is going to be an almost pointless thread. I've been on the unlocked bios for a while with the same video card drivers, feeling like it's time to update, is there a thread where those modded files get posted for the newest updates? Or am I just mislead here and just need to do a DDU then a clean install/modded .inf file?

  7. You will definitely want to put Windows on the SSD with room for the registry to grow a bit and the pagefile.sys and swapfile.sys files on there as well.

Programs are actually less important, as the kernel will be able to load much of what it needs onto your physical memory (RAM) and into the pagefile and swapfile.

For this reason you may consider installing software to the hdd as well. Hope this helps!

Thanks, definitely going to put windows on there, I'd imagine 250gb would be an ample amount, no? I'm mainly doing this for BF4, and whatever games come out in the future

  8. I know this seems pretty simple, but I just need some clarification.. I can put an SSD in with my existing HD, correct? If so, how do I use it? Obviously I want it for games, but would I have to set it up with windows etc, and only have a select amount of programs on there since it would probably be a smaller in gigs.

  9. Long time no see...good? :D uninstall drivers (safe mode) DDU/first uninstall option ->

Ahha it's been a while ^^ everything's been running 10x better then expected. I can't even tell you how happy I am. Thanks for your help, it's really appreciated. So I guess that means I have to put the inf file back too, right?
