If the new laptop meets needs the current one is incapable of doing, then I'd go for it if possible. But the G75 series is fairly recent and the new CPU and chipset in the latest model aren't too much faster. Maybe if the GPU was a magnitude faster, had a better LCD screen, or other features, I'd take the price hit...

It could be a driver issue, heating issue, or BIOS issue as stated...
But it could also be defective hardware. Have you done diagnostics on the RAM, CPU, and possibly even the HDD? I've seen HDDs be the cause of system freezes/crashes... SMART diagnostics followed by a full sector check...

Howdy! I've been playing around with my laptop and was wondering if it's possible to enable the integrated GPU on the i7? That might help battery life a bit...
Thanks!

660m / 680m board is about 82x105mm and the heatsink mounting holes are in a square of 46mm side length.
Anyway, replacing the GPU won't work, your system has no software mechanisms to read out the vbios of a regular MXM card, Asus put the vbios in the BIOS.
Thanks for that info! I almost bought a 670 card, and did not know about the vBIOS being integrated... I'll definitely be content with the 660...
