  1. I think internal LCD support for older integrated graphics chips has been removed in newer NVIDIA graphics driver versions.

A while back, when I didn't have a monitor, I had an eGPU setup (GTX 550 Ti) driving the internal LCD of my laptop, which is a Lenovo X200. This functionality was provided by modded Verde drivers, and after that 301.42. Then I got a monitor and haven't used the internal LCD since. Recently, however, I attempted a portable build which again required the internal LCD, but found that the eGPU was incapable of running the internal LCD until I rolled the driver version back to 301.42.

robynasi has also been unable to use the internal LCD, unless he/she has succeeded and just hasn't updated the thread (Thinkpad T400 + GTX 650 Ti 2Gb)

Both the X200 and T400 use the old (4-5 years) 4500MHD integrated graphics chip.

This is all the proof I have right now, I'll try to find more after my exams.

I really hope this isn't the case, but if someone could find some more information on the subject that would be nice.

  2. Bumping this thread because I still cannot get the internal LCD to work.

Here is my GPU-Z, if it helps to see if Optimus is active or not

I'm running a Lenovo X200, which uses the same internal graphics as @robynasi

Therefore, I'm thinking it might be a problem with NVIDIA removing Optimus support for older gens of iGPUs in newer graphics driver versions?

I have definitely gotten the internal LCD to work with Verde drivers, I played Skyrim for a while with it. @Tech Inferno Fan any thoughts?

  3. I am currently using the pci compression feature in setup 1.x

Should I hotplug without performing the pci compression?

Will that have any effect on Optimus engaging?

I have Optimus working with the old versions of the drivers, so Optimus does work on my setup.

Does anyone know for certain what nvidia might have changed after 301.42 regarding Optimus?

  4. Hello,

I have recently attempted to run the internal LCD of my Lenovo X200 with an eGPU (GTX550TI). Unfortunately, I have not been able to drive the internal LCD with drivers more recent than 301.42. Has anyone had any success with more recent drivers, or is the problem on my end?

  5. Hello,

I have tried to get a Nvidia graphics card to run the internal LCD of my laptop with the most recent graphics drivers(327.23), both desktop and notebook editions of the driver. I am able to get the card to output to an external screen, but when I try to run it back to the internal LCD, it uses the on board graphics instead of the eGPU. I have tried it with a GT630 and a GTX550ti, and have a Lenovo X200. My procedure is to install the drivers, then restart with the PERST delay on the PE4H set to 6.9 Seconds. The Windows 7 boot sequence either hangs, goes black, and once even BSOD, although I did not catch the error message. I was able to install the notebook drivers by editing nvamn.inf allowing the card to use section 099 like in the old kizwan edits of 295.73. Am I doing something wrong?

    Thanks in advance

EDIT: I have also tried to hotplug from standby, but no luck there either
