  1. UEFI in general doesn't work along with CSM...that new BIOS was upped today ;)

I just figured out what was wrong. I downgraded my W7 Intel Graphics Drivers to the ones that came with the laptop. It loads now with CSM Video OpRom set to UEFI Only :) I guess upgrading Intel Graphics drivers is a bad idea for this machine.

  2. EDIT: We can not set CSM while using Win 8.x UEFI mode, that is intended and not supported by design.

I just uploaded a new version of the P1xxSM Mods with a little tweak that let's you get rid of the stock BIOS 'BUG' that keeps the dGPU FAN spinning even after it is no longer in use. (Totally spaced it the first round) :D

Set the option under "Advanced" > "Switchable Graphics" > "PX 5.0 Mode" to "BACO"

I'm using Windows 7 UEFI sorry for not specfying. I downloaded the BIOS 2/27/2014

  3. I'm having GPU problems as well. After I flashed v2, some things reset (wifi profiles deleted) and optimus doesn't seem to be working. It also won't let me reinstall nvidia drivers. I checked in the BIOS and there's a menu for "Switchable Graphics" that seems to be empty (no options). Is that intended?

Weird things happen like this every time I update the BIOS for some reason. It corrupts my Windows Installation almost every time. Why is this?

Edit: NVM, I went to safe mode and managed to remove and reinstall Nvidia Drivers

Having a problem though with UEFI (but I've always had this problem in previous versions of the mod). If I set the Video in CSM to UEFI only, the Windows boot logo freezes, but I can hear the system keep on loading, the screen just stays on the boot logo. Any ideas?

  4. Prema Mod v1.1 for P15xSM & P17xSM now in the OP.

    Changelog:

    - Added SATA Options (sorry, forgot them in v1)

    - Sata RAID updated to v13.1.0.2030 (Lagacy & UEFI)

    - Updated Intel GOPdriver to v5.0.1036

    - Updated Realtek EFI UNDI to v2.024

    - Added silent & cool EC FAN option to the installer

    ENJOY! :)

Hey, I tried to update to v1.1 But during the flash, all of a sudden the screen had text spamming downward and I couldn't click anything and it wouldn't end so I hit the power button. From what I could read in the text it said something like EC 1 or 2 over and over scrolling across my screen. My machine still booted so I guess I'm OK?

  5. For me, the CPU fan was on permanently no matter what and wouldn't spin down with the modded EC and BIOS. Prema sent me a non-OC version of the EC that ran quieter. I flashed that and then I flashed back to the modded EC that came with the modded BIOS and it's quieter now and will spin down when the temps are low.

  6. Yeah that's how Clevo made it...

You can change fan behavior by setting the Clevo control Center to "Entertainment or "Quiet" mode.

There is also an option in BIOS in "CPU configuration" which is called "Energy Performance":

Yeah, I tried fiddling around with those settings. The fan seems to be on permanently no matter what. Is this a new feature from the 1.03.03? I think the BIOS I updated from was 1.03.01, but it was from Sager and I don't know if they made changes to the Clevo BIOS.

  7. Hi, I just flashed your BIOS. UEFI install worked great for Windows 7. But I can't seem to get the fan to stop running. Is it intentional for it to run on low permanently even on idle with low temperatures? Is there any way to change the fan settings? The CPU fan used to shut off automatically after being at low temps for a certain amount of time. Also, the GPU fan used to shut off once the GPU goes to sleep. Now, it continues to run until I FN+1 twice. But the CPU fan doesn't turn off.

  8. Yea, the laptop is less than a year old. How do you stop the turbo fan from kicking in though? Its impossible to use the laptop when the fan is going 100%.

I can't. It's inevitable. Once it hits a certain temperature, the fans will turn up until the temps go down. If those were idle temps, I'd worry. But if it's high load, It's supposed to get hot.

  9. Yea i already cleaned the fans out a few weeks ago, doesnt seem to have done much to help. Im told 70+ degrees celsius under load is normal for this laptop (not sure how true this is). Will i be able to use FN + 1 to turn off the turbo fan? Right now its bugged and wont turn off...

I have the same laptop. I get high temps (70+) at high load as well as I should. When I run the Windows Experience Index, I hit about 77 degrees. I have the multipliers all set to max in Intel XTU. I've repasted dozens of times and cleaned the fans out with an air blower. I think this is just how the machine is.

How old is the laptop?? Ceaning the fans do help a lot, but if the TIM is no good clean fans can only do so much, definitely would try repaste and see how you go.

Sent from my HTC One X using Tapatalk

I use Prolimatech PK-3 and previously used PK-1. I've tried pasting with the dot method, the line method, and have tried spreading it manually. The temps stay the about the same no matter what.

  10. I'm assuming you want the laptop for gaming purposes. if so, I recommend the Sager NP8265 (Clevo P150SM). I own the Sager NP8230 (Clevo P151SM1) myself only because the NP8265 had a delayed release. It's a little bulky and loud, but for the price, I don't think there's a better 15-inch laptop in terms of specs.

  11. On all Clevo systems with a removable GPU (MXM) the system BIOS and video BIOS are hosted on different chips, so they can be flashed independently.

    EDIT:

Since one or two (hundred) of you where wishing to have a Prema Mod for it:

    P-SM / NP82/93-Series | Prema Mod

Hi, Prema, thank you for your efforts.

Does this mod allow for the installation of Windows 7 in UEFI mode? I don't think my stock BIOS allows it. Also, is it possible to safely flash back to the Sager version of the BIOS?
