flashed to latest stock w230 bios, and fan is fine again... which is weird because the EC is the same.
so the only conclusion I could draw was that there was kind of a problem with the flash when I tried your latest mod...
well, it's nice to have a normal fan again, I'll stay like that as for now =)

That's very odd, I never even hear the fan, like ever...no pulsing either...your temps maybe exactly between two values...I didn't try to downgrade, Clevo issued no warning like on other models, but their changelogs are a joke anyway...
It's doing it right now, and my temps are 48-52.. am in quiet / power saver mode.
I assume the fan should be off on those temps.
I'll try the latest stock first, see if something changes.
Could the ME firmware/drivers play a role here, or is it EC only ?
edit: now it's 58-63, same story.
as soon as it's reaching 65 though, the mid-level fan speed kicks in and the pulsing goes off.
when it's coming back under 65, the pulsing stays off for a minute or so, then starts again, pretty irritating ^^

Hi mate, about w230st latest upgrade:
It's an entirely new base, I highly recommend to update!Well the fan behavior is worst for me. It's more frequently on at low loads, and is now "pulsing" once every 5-10s (at low speeds at least)..
Beside, I can't see any benefit. Is it possible to downgrade to .04 or .05 bios / ec or am I at risk there ?

That's what is troubling me, I didn't see any 1.02.xx releases, last one were 1.00.06 ! Well no big deal, just found it was a bit strange... Really hope to see a new EC that fixes the fan issue from Clevo soon, are you still working on it ?Just their naming scheme, 1.02.xx was to mark Win 8 releases and now 1.03.xx Win 8.1.Cheers

Hi dude, what's with those new 1.03.02 bios & EC ?
Whereas they used to be numbered 1.00.0x and now that, what's the deal ?
Is the new numerotation because of the 8.1 support ?

Really ? Is it the one that bricked your board ? Damn, I was wise to ask first then =DTheir last EC didn't stop the burst and it didn't end very well for my Notebook either, so I am not eager to try this one, be my guest.That's crazy, they are reseller so I would have expected they don't release something that can generate RMA....

Hi mate, mysn just released a modified EC for w230st on notebookreview forum, is it safe to flash it over your modded bios ?
Here's the link : ***Official Clevo W230ST/Sager NP7330 Owner's Lounge***** - Page 58

oh, so it's already the same fan-wise..
well didn't seem to solve it completely for me.
d'oh !

Hi Prema, hope you're doing fine.
If you're interested (hope so ^^), here is a modified w230 .04 EC from mySN.
They apparently tuned the fan tables to deal with the fan burst issue, maybe you can try that on .05 EC ? =)

Hi guys. where is the w230st bios..... i see only one on page 1 stating stock bios.
-
Good to know, thx.
-
Cool =)
One last question, your 05 bios version is only 4MB, while the one from clevo ftp is 6MB, do you happen to know the difference ?
Cheers and thank you again !

Hi, is there anything for 765M already ? (clevo w230st)
Thanks
-
I use the clevo w230st.
Not sure if it can qualify at beeing quiet on full load, but it's definitely not that loud, and meets other requirements pretty well, particularly once fine-tuned =)
-
@Prema: what about ME for w230st ?
Is there any update ? Also, do you know which version of Intel's ME driver does the best with latest bios ?
Thanks =)
-
Hi Prema, hope you're doing well.
Could you please release the latest stock BIOS ?
I'm especially thinking at w230st, that fan burst is driving me insane !
As usual, many thanks for your time =)
Clevo released the new 04 bios for W230ST today. Always something, but it will not have any new options, like Prema's mod's.Where did you find it ?

Well I can remember I did it, at least 1 minute maybe 2 or more.
I don't really have a need for your modded one, but I may try it again, just to check if it's fine this time around.
