I am looking for cheap headphones (under $40) with a detachable cord. I like the sound of the cheap Sennheisers but the cords keep breaking at the point where they connect to the headset. The computer is shared with 5 family members. Any ideas?

Based on my experience with my G62 I would not buy HP again. It ran super hot, half the time when I turned it on the screen would be black and require a hard reset, and the bios whitelist was limiting.

My own personal opinion of Windows 8 is that it the user interface is clunky. I prefer Windows 7. I immediately installed classic shell. There are a few new features that I like, but overall I would give it a C-.
Features I like:
File History
Explorer Ribbon
File Copy Graph
seems stable
Features I dislike:
Metro interface
Issues with libraries and Photo app when using a network drive
To install apps you have to sign in with a Microsoft account
System backup not easy to find

Where I live 2.4ghz is saturated causing slowdowns at certain times. I have not experienced the same problem with 5ghz devices. Probably because it is not as widely adopted yet. I am currently using a USB wifi adapter, the Logitech AE3000. It works great, but I eventually plan to replace it with an internal card. For a laptop like the Y500 dual band should be standard.

I never understood either why people put so much faith in synthetic benchmarks to gauge how good an SSD is. In my opinion reliability, consistency, ease of use, and price/GB are more important than numbers on a piece of paper or website. I doubt anyone can really tell a big difference in speed between different drives
Quantifiable differences are easier to understand for most people. That being said, I agree with you.

Hello. I am from San Jose, CA. I have been building computers for about 20 years. I am trying to add a new wireless card to my laptop and I found out that I need an unlocked bios.
