After hours of reading the hole thread I'm ready to flash my Y500 SLI. When I bought my Y500 I thought there would be no issue with demanding games like Crysis 3 and Metro. When I saw how mutch I had to downgrade the settings I had to do something about that. And I was realy pleased to find this thread.

Before I begin I want to know in what order to flash and install a 7260ac card.

1 Do I first pull out the 2230 default card or turn off wifi in the bios. 2 flash bios and ultra-bay. And 3 install the new 7260ac card.

I also want to know what is going to happen if I turn the wifi on after flashing and leave the 2230 card in to install a 7260ac after a couple of days.

I don't think theres any issue with leaving the 2230 in. I flashed the bios, then swapped the cards a few days later, didn't turn wifi off or anything.

There is a known issue where Bluetooth disappears if you put the computer to sleep, hibernate, or shut it down when Windows 8 fast startup is enabled. The only way to get Bluetooth back is to do a restart. Could this be what you are experiencing?

no, i never put my computer to sleep or hibernate and this seems to happen pretty randomly. Like every few minutes. Could it be a defective card?

NVM I think i may have figured it out. i went into the device manager and in the bluetooth power management section i unchecked "allow this computer to turn off this device to save power"

I have a lenovo y500 on windows 8 and I just bought the intel 7260 ac wireless card. I am currently using the intel 16.1.3 drivers.

My issue is that my Bluetooth keyboard disconnects frequently to occasionally and it won't reconnect for a long time unless i restart my keyboard. I did not have this issue on my last wireless card or any other devices. Anyone have this issue too or know of a solution?

You can try getting a notebook fan that goes under the laptop. Might help a bit

I was thinking about getting The Witcher 2, I heard that was a great game.

I currently use the Y500 and I'd highly recommend the newer Y510 with Haswell CPU's. Its is an amazing value and other companies would charge you $500-1000 more for a laptop with similar specs.

I use the same Zalman NC 3000 that the OP posted. It works well and is silent but occasionally (pretty rare) i notice that the weight of my laptop causes the fan to make a scrapping noise.

Razer Naga Mouse at 4000 DPI and a cheap Steelseries mousepad. I never use the buttons on the side of the mouse though. I feel like they're too close together to use comfortably.
