can somebody help me? I'm very new to this and can't even get passed the first step. When I try to backup my current BIOS with the .bat tool (as administrator), something pops up very quickly that says the file is not recognized as an internal or external command.
Make sure you open a command prompt and change to the directory where you saved the batch file. If on windows 8 search for and run cmd.exe to open a command prompt. Make to run cmd.exe as an administrator.

Yeah but then you have to live with Windows 8
So far I prefer windows 8. The single login across all my windows devices is perfect for me.

Intel 7260 + BT should be supported in Bios 3.xx by default.
Only the single band wireless n +'BT version of the 7260 is most likely supported as the dual band n or ac models with or without bt are not order able from Lenovo.

Tried to search and didn't see this answered, but will flashing the ultra bay SLI affect using it in a non-flashed system?
I have a dual model, but am trying to sell my second card since I have no need for the extra power and I don't want to screw it up for someone else if it ends up selling.
Also, it seems my machine has 1.07 - when I check the Lenovo site it shows no updates available. Is there somewhere else these are located at?
how much are you asking for the second card?

But what's the point? I've done this in the past, and every time I've wondered why I'd even bothered. I'm reducing my performance AND functionality, considering that all the worthwhile programs and apps are Windows only. I end up jumping through hoops to use the software I was already using on Windows.
Is there a reason you prefer running OSX?
If it could be done with ease it would mean I could keep all my Mac based work stuff and sell the actual Mac to get some funds!

I noticed that most of the people in this thread are trying to install the Intel AC card. I am attempting to just get a dual band wireless N card in. Will this still be compatible?
The Intel 6235 works well and supports multiple bands and Bluetooth. Cheers,

I am running a 64gb SSD m4 crucial in my laptop for a few months now as my primary drive(purchased in 2011), it has been running fine. What brand SSD have you been using, also do you use the custom bios? Also have you checked to make sure your bios is set to AHCI.

Some people have had success removing the 2nd GPU, installing intel drivers and running games at low settings on the Intel GPU on battery. I don't really see the point. I bought my Y510 SLI 750 for gaming only. It's never been unplugged.

I have a couple of Lenovo systems where I've pulled the drives and inserted SSD drives. Is anyone else seeing failures on these? Should I even risk using them as data drives in external enclosures?

For the people with less than 10s boot times, if applicable, how long did you have the OS installed before running your SSD in your Lenovo? I had mine for about 1 year, so I'm wondering if all the extra installed background apps/processes cause the increase. I haven't tried booting on a completely fresh install.
Also curious about timing and making sure we're comparing apples to apples. I timed from the moment I hit the power button. Just making sure that I eliminate unnecessary variables.

I held off until May of this year when I purchased a laptop with Windows 8 installed. All my games work and it's actually not bad as a launch platform for my games. However, trying to do anything like device manager, disk manager or even shutdown or restart takes more clicks than under Windows 7. One of my friends has an Acer laptop and at least Acer added a virtual power button so shutdowns and restarts are simple.
Other than that I haven't found anything in Windows 8 that keeps me from playing.

I'm running a Samsung 840 500gb SSD on my Y510 and it boots in under 8 seconds. I never even considered running the 1tb drive. It was removed and cloned the moment I received it.

Is there a mod for the newer Lenovo Y510 SLI version? I'd love to ditch the original card.

change directory to the directory you downloaded it to.
cd\Users\username\Downloads
if you saved it to the downloads directory.
Run the batch file from there.
