Are you saying that you have the gear all running with Gen1 but when you set Gen2 it doesn't work? I can see from your GPU-Z dump that the VRAM is listed as 0MB. This is a bad sign. I had the same when using my Dell E6230 + GTX660. I'd recommend you set the PCI Reset Delay on the PE4H 3.2 (try 6.9s first then 15s), poweroff the eGPU + T520. Poweron the eGPU slightly before the T520 and boot into Setup 1.x and try again.

So I got Setup 1.x installed, booted and running.

First goal was to eliminate the BSODs I was experiencing (Gen1) - I did the PCI Compaction and so far it did the trick.

Am I supposed to run the Setup 1.x everytime before I boot into Win7 or is all the changes saved and automatically chained into the next bootup - this seems a little unclear to me.

My second goal is getting the Gen2 linespeed up and running.

So far whenever I let BIOS enable Gen2 (Automatic sel. and not Gen1) my card is detected without any system errors codes (12/43) but it's non-operational:

EDIT: Forgot to mention - The spaces marked "Unknown" are normally (under Gen1 operation) filled out with relevant data.

I was kind of trying of random stuff thought I'd might get lucky hitting the right button in Setup 1.x - but nothing seems to change anything.

Setup 1.x initially recognizes the card, but whenever I force it into Gen2, Restart the port or any other activity - the card dissapeard and cannot be identified inside Setup 1.x.

Guess I will have to resort to Setup 1.x, @Tech Inferno Fan will you please PM me the details?

That sounds like a power issue to me.

1. What power source do you use?

2. I have the same BSOD issues sometimes (almost exactly when windows boots up and reverts to my ext. screen), do you use mPCIe or EC?

It sounds like you might need Setup 1.x or do you already have it?

I am using an 'unknown brand' ATX 480W (24-pin) power supply that I borrowed from a friend to test things out.

It delivers 360W on the 12V rails.

It's running through a PE4H 3.2 via ExpressCard.

Here is how I attempt to get things working:

1. All is powered off

2. Plug the PE4H into EC slot and switch on the power supply

3. Power up the Lenovo laptop

..Fans start moving on the MSI GTX660 and diodes light up on the PE4H. All good.

..Then reach windows 7 64 login screen and from there further, all loaded and active.

4. Some minutes still having HDD activity (loading background services, etc.)

5. Now comes the critical part:

..Either it gives me a BSOD, dumps and then reboots. This happens the first approx. 2-3 bootups (from cold).

..Else things stay stable and perfectly functioning.

Now this is all running in Gen1, Gen2 makes things not work at all... :/

Have you read my guide about the W530? I dont think its a TOLUD problem (have you checked it?).

I dont think you need the DSDT override.

You dont need any modded drivers. Just download the GTX660 drivers from NVidia

I guess you were right about the TOLUD subject - even though I injected the TOLUD 64bit extension set, I recently have been getting

_a lot_ of BSOD's when booting the system.

I have to reboot about 3 times until the thing stays stable and usable.

This is all running with Gen1,

Switching to Gen2 is not an option for me at this point.

If I do, the Nvidia drivers will refuse to accept the card (cannot open the Nvidia control panel) and also MSI Afterburner will mark the GPU as blank.

Should I think about resorting to Setup 1.1x .. or?

Hmm well, I'm not totally sure because I actually updated some Lenovo/Intel chipset drivers simultaneously - but it made the BSODs dissapear.

I read your W530 guide and first then realized that optimus was the function to choose "CPU for PhysX" hmm... So in this case you are right about the driver.

Any advice towards getting it into Gen2 without "Code 12" issues?

So thought I wanted to share that I just managed to accomplish following:

Lenovo T520, Core i7 2640M @ 2.80Ghz, 8GB RAM

Windows 7 Pro @ 64Bit

Intel HD Graphics 3000 (iGPU)

PE4H 3.2 fitted with MSI Geforce GTX660 2GB @ Express Card

At first try I got it installed running at PCIe Gen1, but had to do the DSDT override maneuver because of BSOD's - this fixed it!

3DMark'11 Graphics score: 6184 (@PCIe Gen1)

I of course wanted to take advantage of the Gen2 compliance that the PE4H 3.2 should provide - but whenever I change to Gen2 (via BIOS setup) the

device manage gives me a "Code 12".

Any ideas for this issue?

Also.. I heard some talking about Optimus drivers being able to boost a good deal - but can't seem to find any modded drivers for GTX660?
