same thing happened to me... I bought my gt650 y500 then after a week or so they released 750m model and now they are releasing models with haswell aswell..
I should have waited for those but i need a laptop i think we just need to sell our laptops and buy y510p
for the performance, perhaps 10% increase from 650m model to 750m and yes we can OC to get 750m speeds
Haswell is only supposed to improve battery life by 10%-15%, so that doesn't bother me as much as this just means maybe 15 extra minutes if we're talking 10%-15% of 2.5 hours? Haha. I have the 750m, but can I buy a 650m for the ultrabay for SLI?

Hi guys,
After I resized my primary partition my win8 couldnt boot anymore. OKR couldnt help either so I just delete all partitions and installed win7.
All went ok but unfortunately now I have "wakeup problem" (you can check my other thread).
So can anyone make an image of the hidden OKR partition and upload it somewhere for me?
It will be really glad!
thx in advance!
Ross
How can I make a backup of mine--I've been there before, so I know your pain. Let me know and maybe I can help once I figure out how to back mine up--maybe I should boot using a Ubuntu Live USB drive? What's on the hidden partition?

All in all they should be pretty close. But then again my Y500 is modded in some ways (repaste, replaced thermal pad, added 1 heatpipe, added washers to increase backplate pressure on CPU, replaced screws on Ultrabay with tighter spring to increase pressure on the Ultrabay GPU), so this doesn't apply to everyone.
Is there a risk of over-tightening or over-pressuring the plates on the CPU and/or GPU? I mean, I'm not going to go crazy and us a vise, but just curious of how much lee-way you'd give it. Maybe until the spring does not have that much space left?
TIA, I'm going to open her up tomorrow, which, at 2 weeks since I've gotten her, is the longest I've waited to open up any laptop I've ever owned....

My Y500 came with One Touch Recovery installed. There was a patch that I had to apply though: Update Your OneKey Recovery__

I've had the Advanced-N 6235 and can vouch for it. I note that the 6300 does not have Bluetooth: Intel® Wireless Product Selection Guide

Would it be okay to lose the HDD and put in an SSD instead of an mSATA? I'm more interested in the benefit of having an inexpensive solution (and not having to worry about dropping the laptop, haha)--and then in the future I can buy a cheaper mSATA.

I have v2.03 as well. Can you let me know if there is any news on the mod? I have the more recent model that has the GT750m on-board, and no second card.
