  1. Has anyone found out a way to control the fan speed? My temps reach 80c and while i know that's not bad at all the fans barely rev up anywhere near to what coolerboost 2 provides when i activate it

Anyway to change the way the fan activates at certain temps, much like msi afterburner's fan curve.

  2. Hey guys. So I've just bought a gt60 20d 3k ips edition to which has the following specs

    4700MQ

    780m GTX

    16GB 1600mhz

    1TB + 3x 128gb SSD with super raid 2

    3k WQHD+ (2880x1620) 15.6 lcd display

What should I start by doing? I've done a little research and I hear something about lowering the voltage of the 4700mq and raising the clocks?

What about the graphics card? I would hope to overclock it as the 3k display will definitely need some more horse power. How do I go about doing this on a laptop, whats best for MSI? I've done flashing awhile ago but this is something I'd better be safer asking about beforehand.

Any help would be appreciated guys!

  3. Nope the only thing its ever used for is playing games. The temps were fine with the graphics card never going past 83c and the cpu at max 75c. I even bought the U3 coolermaster pad for it.

Yeah It was driving me crazy, I couldn't for the life of me figure out how swapping over to a hdmi display could blow the graphics card....considering its not even plugged into it...

Sent it back today to OC UK. Will report back lol.

  4. As soon as I put the hdmi port in. It was perfectly fine beforehand. Its literally forced displays on that and even when I go to use the hdmi port now for any tv it always uses the hd 4000. It even says HD4000 is being used in resolution settings.

  5. So the other day I plugged in my hdmi port to use my tv as the display and the display on the laptop goes blank and then a blank screen is on the tv then it just shifts back to the laptop only this time its using the igpu and everytime I try to swap back to the gtx 680 i get a message saying this display is not using an nvidia gpu so I can't use the nvidia drivers.

    I've tried these things

    Formatted Twice

    System restored

uninstalled new/older drivers of both the nvidia and intel

    cmos restart

taking the graphics card out booting up and then shutting down and inserting it again

trying a different hdmi cable and a different screen.

Disabling in device manager and restarting

It just won't swap back to the dedicated gpu. So has the hdmi socket short circuited the gpu and now its dead? it just says error 43 in the device manager and in gpu its all 0 core and memory its just not being used at all.

I'm gonna try and send it back. Hopefully i'll get somewhere....But in anycase I've just inherited a large paperweight!!! Yay.

  6. Wow you stole that thing. The 680m alone costs close to $700.

953 core on stock volts seems standard, maybe slightly better than average if it's fully stable. Mine did 940 stable, with 953 just a hair unstable. How's your memory? Memory overclocks seem to vary a lot.

Yeah I play with the lights some too. My favorite is red-green-blue. When using 3 different colors I just find green in the middle to make it much better.

Havent done much on the overclock mem wise as i hear the 4gb limits the amount quite abit but as it stands its +300 atm

  7. Just purchased a Clevo p170em (OC UK Destroyer, apparently) off ebay worth 2000 for only a 1000 lol check these specs out and tell me what you guys think

    3840qm

    4gb gtx 680m

    16gb corsair 1600 vengeance ram

60gb ssd intel 830 for the OS

    240GB corsair force 3

    Samsung slimline 4x blu ray

and I even got a SWISS GEAR PEGASUS 17 bag thrown in worth 60 as well lol needless to say the guy was quite annoyed.

I'm absolutely loving this laptop and as my first one I'm damn impressed. I used to think laptops could never reach the heights of desktop gaming but now they are getting very close.

I've overclocked the 680m already as I hear the Clevo 4gb cards are one of the betters out there for OC'ing. I've only got it to 953 core atm but I plan on getting the 1v voltage mod and seeing where i can go from there.

Also am I the only one who keeps playing with the keyboard lights lol?
