Hi,
I'm currently running the old vbios for my gtx 780m where you have to change the string in the inf folder. Like the example below, I was wondering with the new 780m overclock edition vbios do I still have to mod the inf spring to be able to install the driver? Also what does overclock edition different from the old one? Does it come already overclock? Thank![NVIDIA_SetA_Devices.NTamd64.6.0] %NVIDIA_DEV.11A0.048F.1028% = Section187, PCIVEN_10DE&DEV_11A0&SUBSYS_048F1028

Yeah, I need to adjust that. Forgot to mention it here. Up until +125mV nothing will change at all, the voltage change starts at +137.5mV. So anyone who wants to add some volts needs to put the slider at least to that value.
To put it on other words, setting the slider to +137.5mV will result in +12.5mV additional -> 1.025V instead of the max stock of 1.012V .
Slv7,
I'm currently running at 1.05. Is that consider bad? I don't have any crashes running 3dmark11 and I play sleeping dog for an hour or so without any issues.
-
Actual voltage wont start changing until you go +150 or higher. I think inspector doesn't see that 1.012 is the stock max correctly.

K I was able to increase my voltage with a +150mV or higher. Currently setting it at +162.5 MV and +160/150.

Try EVGA precision, word has it that inspector has issues on some systems with the newest drivers.
I never over volt before, so what is the safe increment to do it at? Thank
-
have you tried to increase power and thermal limits ? are you using inspector or afterburner?
-
Reflashed it with vbios from this thread. Now goes over 993 ok. Not sure what was wrong with the other one.
I am using inspector.
So were you able to overvolt the card?
-
-
are any of you able to increase voltage ? also @dttran83 is it completely stable? because when i ran at those clocks the card didn't even run 3dmark 11 or complete a 3dmark11 test

killer thanks for the help, finally i got the modded rom with the 311.70 driver, i change the name as you say in both parts (lines) and safe the .inf, then i disable the sign for the install and...woala, Works, ty man, i test everything now, did you have some configurations to oc the gtx780(core mem +?) to test it? without increase V?
-
i actually don't know ,but i don't think u need to
-
^^^ k thank, do you still need do that sign off mode to install the driver?
-
The entries for the 119F.10EA.1462 will need to be changed to 119F.05AA.1462 for the 311.70 drivers to work on the modded ROM
the modded ROM works on the MSI cards , it is most likely a limitation in the bios that we can't increase voltage
the BSOD are caused by driver incompatibilities most likely due to the NOS system since no other laptop companies is using this technology
-
Dttran83, could be that all the problems include the mod.rom i think, i make some test now if i can manage to install that driver with the mod.rom, regards!
I just flash with the vbios and having the same issue like you did with the Microsoft basic display adapters. How did you fix this issue? Thank!
-
Sorry for that, i rename to.zip thats why is corrupted, here's the .zip one!, , I forgot to mention that when you start windows after the installation of the drivers 320.49 with mod bios it says " driver power state failure ", i even manage to install the original driver with the mod.rom
It does not support laptop with hybrid power. I recommend you to use the 311.70 on MSI website.

@ killerinstinct, How do you boot into the usb drive with our laptop?
-
yea you can change it in your overclocking utility or it might just be downclocking due to power restrictions but it take alot into consideration when it starts to downclock
I really think it power limitation. I had try various clock from 100 to 135 on the core. Whenever it hit around 84c it start to down clock. Does your downclock at a certain temperature killerinstinct?
-
thats due to the dynamic system, maybe u have the temp target set to 85 or something similiar?
I though our laptop is set at 91c before it start to down clock? Is there a way to change it?
-
First of all make sure your throttling isn't caused by overheating GPU or CPU.
Hey svl7,
Will the gtx 780m vbios prevented it from down clock? My card start to downclock from 980mhz to 967mhz at around 84c. I have a MSI gt60-20D. Thank!

Does anyone having problem with overclocking the core with the new NVidia driver? I'm able to over the core clock and gpuz show indicated that the clock is change but when I play game the clock only show 849mhz. Using my stock driver from MSI 311.7, the clock actually indicate right. I'm currently using a MSI GT-60 with 780m.
