  1. This build is ridiculous. I am too thinking about jumping on the SLI titan'd bandwagon... gah... 2gs... This is really hard to pull the trigger. The throttling issues aside, that thing looks like the beast of beasts.

Love the Mars II on a side note.

  2. I love my alienwares M17x R4, M14x R2 M11x R1 BUT!! Technical support is TERRIBLE!!! It took a month to get a working M17x R4. After I received my system with a blown speaker they sent out a non dell tech that forgot to put screws back in. I know my way around computers but I figured since I just bought the thing they should fix it... Bad Idea! They sent me a replacement system That wouldn't even boot and was scratched and dented to all heck... (do they check these things?). So I fixed my original myself. They never did pay me for my work like they promised... 30 plus hours on the phone with tech support (mostly on hold). I kept a record after the first week.

I only found 1 guy that wasn't rude.

I will never buy a alienware directly from dell again. I ended up selling my M17x after I fixed it up.

That being said All of my alienwares have been of good quality besides some complaints (non matching ram, grill flex) little things.

As long as the price is right my next upgrade after my m14x R2 become obsolete will be a alienware.

I hear these stories all the time but my experience has been the opposite. my m18xr2 came with a little keyboard issue... guy came over fixed it and tech support has been way cool to me. I'm lucky I guess?

I feel bad for all the bad experiences!

  3. If the GPU is under light load it will automatically clock down to save power even when plugged in. You can prevent this with nvidia inspector if you want, but I haven't noticed the clock changes causing any stuttering so I don't think this is something to worry about.

The card will slow down to 758 if it reaches 90C, but yours is dropping to 771 so it looks like it's just not being stressed.

How would this card get to 90c before crashing in games anyway? I am 1000 and I am not even breaking 75c in fur mark. I guess I need that overvolted bios.

  4. ^ Truth...

His customized orangey beast of an m18xr made me want to get mine. I love the thing. It's ridiculously heavy and huge to move around, but the cooling/looks/build quality is just tops for a laptop.

Dell and Alienware get crap but I have had nothing but good things to say about my Alienware m18xr2.
