Khenglish 1155 Posted December 14, 2015 Admin Note: Please post T|I 2.0 bugs and feedback in this thread. So I don't know if you guys are done yet, but here are my thoughts on what I see so far: 1. I had saved https://forum.techinferno.com/forum.php for TI.This link is now broken and thus many people may still think the site is still down. 2. The banner at the top is too large. It can be compressed to take much less vertical space while still having the same functionality. 3. I hate automatic new lines after paragraphs. If I wanted a second new line I would have put in the extraordinary effort of pressing enter a 2nd time. 4. On the main page the font of section titles is too similar to the thread section titles. This makes it harder to tell the sections apart. 5. Shoutbox is missing. I always get a welcome back thing in its place instead, even when visiting the website multiple times on the same computer. 6. Loading is faster. 7. Search function seems to work better. I found the old one to be worthless and I would have to use google to find threads. 8. On firefox there is an annoying browser popup about notifications for this website. 9. It looks prettier.
Brian 1980 Posted December 14, 2015 1. We'll look into setting up a redirect for that. 2. Banner is also a work in progress. We plan to compress it's vertical space, image size and to turn it into an object that can be toggled off after the first visit. Edit: Top banner completely redone 3. Agreed about the lines, will look into it. EDIT: Fixed. 4. Will see what we can do about fonts. 5. Unfortunately the shoutbox is gone for good. We have no plans to bring it back. 6. We're still optimizing so it will get faster. 7. VB was a cancer that's why. 8. Will check FF. 9. Thanks We just went live and there's going to be a lot of quirks and updates we still have to iron out. Welcome back!
angerthosenear 266 Posted December 14, 2015 About 3, Hitting enter wraps things in <p> tags. Which is pretty dumb. Thus all the extra space. 8. Does it in Chrome too. Wants the desktop notifications enabled for T|I.

Brian 1980 Posted December 14, 2015 Have you guys tried changing your notification settings?: https://forum.techinferno.com/index.php?/notifications/options/ Alternatively you can disable notifications in Chrome: https://support.google.com/chrome/answer/3220216?hl=en

Changing it on Tech Inferno's end didn't work (were already disabled), but on Chrome it did.
angerthosenear 266 Posted December 14, 2015 I ended up enabling notifications, they are actually quite nice.

Agreed, I love the notification system and keep it active.
timohour 138 Posted December 16, 2015 I really like the new forum. It is beatiful, easier to use and faster. And notifications are great help too. Realised that the table code that worked for VB doesn't work. Is there any specific reason? It works when you preview your post but not when published. Spoiler e.g.[tbody]test123456test111213141516[/tbody]
Brian 1980 Posted December 17, 2015 Thanks for the feedback! Currently table BB code is not directly supported. We are looking into better solutions and will let you know if we find something. EDIT: Good news, I've gone ahead and added in the table functionality (click the table button in the editor) so you can now create them again. Unfortunately, older posts that used the table BB code won't automatically be converted, we'll have to do that manually in the database when time permits. octiceps 256 Posted December 17, 2015 What happened to the 3rd party software forum with HWiNFO, ThrottleStop, RealTemp, etc. discussion? Unless I'm an idiot and missed it.

HWiNFO (Martin) has his own website where he promotes his awesome piece of software and UncleWebb has indicated to us that the official home for his software is NBR and TechPowerUp so we no longer host subforums or downloads for them here. However, should either wish to become active on T|I and have their software promoted here, we'd be happy to do it.
rhx123 86 Posted December 18, 2015 I read somewhere we would be able to make our own articles, I was planning on writing one about the progression of technology, is this feature somewhere hiding or did it not make it in the end?

It's here and all you have to do is pick the appropriate forum and write it. We plan to create a user point system where if people like you write a quality article and it gets enough up votes from the community, we would promote it to the CMS and feature it. At the moment while the point system is being worked out, moderators and admins will be watching for these articles and promoting/featuring them to the front page as appropriate. So if you do write an article, please pick the forum of your choosing and we'll keep an eye out for it.
StamatisX 1066 Posted December 18, 2015 I read somewhere we would be able to make our own articles, I was planning on writing one about the progression of technology, is this feature somewhere hiding or did it not make it in the end?Plus writing an article now is easier than ever and as convenient as making a post in the forum. So now writer has to concentrate on his content rather than on formatting of the text. Copy pasting also works great if you the content ready in lets say MS Word. Brian 1980 Posted December 20, 2015 UPDATE: So we moved our domain around to reflect the new changes a bit better so it's now back to www.techinferno.com and from there you can go to the forums etc. Additionally, we are now on a server that's twice as fast as the old one and are on the newest PHP standard so during peak load times, you shouldn't see any slowdown. If you do, be sure to let us know. As always, we're continually working in the background to make sure the T|I experience gets better and better. P.S. If you see the site go down and give you a 500 error, we're aware of it and working on it.
w4vz 29 Posted December 20, 2015 My feedback so far: Happy: - Liking the clarity of design in posts - like the new font - looks a bit more clean overall - The posting module is really improved. NOT HAPPY: - The TOP BANNER needs to disapear entirely please; it is a complete waste of space; especially on small screens, please remove :))) - The Announcement section is way too big and in the way, loosing valuable real estate - spacing between writing seems too much in general; can we condense a bit more ? - Feels like endless scrolling which makes the site less clear I think because it is harder to get overviews, probably because of font spacing ? - the Forum does not seem as responsive and snappy under OSX and safari ( heavier code or slow servers ? ) Would be lovely to be able to customise the appearance ourselve but I would be happy with just loosing the top banner and announcement section. Great job overall, I'm sure that was a hell of a job to move everything !

Top banner/welcome header: It's been re-done now to fit w/in the title bar. 2. Announcements has been adjusted now to display in relevant forums. We're still working on finding a better way for this. 3. Spacing is 1.6 em which is standard between lines. 4. I'm not entirely sure what you mean by "endless scrolling". Take a look after the recent adjustments and get back to us. 5. Is this browser/OSX specific? Would you mind trying Chrome for OSX? We tested the site on early hardware like iPhone 2G (the very first iPhone) and found no performance issues. That said, once we are settled in, we plan to introduce another theme (that's a favorite of one of the admins here) which will allow you to customize your colors and some of the layout. It will be several weeks before we get around to that but it's coming. Thanks for the feedback.

Taking the example of Egpu page I feel that it could do without the top login/search bar and with a much smaller smaller annoncement area still. See how the content begin at half the page, I would love to have the posts take at least about two third of the page area by default so we see more posts and have a better overview of content. I meant by endless scrolling that the content was beginning at around half the page so I had to scroll on pages I did not have to before. I feel like the new version of the site is like working with a magnifier on the old one if that makes sense. If not in your plan for the main theme would love to see options to maximise content space and density if possible. Responsiveness is good now after a clear cache
Brian 1980 Posted December 21, 2015 Thanks for the comments and to address some of it: The very top bar has to remain on every page since it contains not only the search window but also your access to conversations, notifications etc. I believe what you're getting at if I'm not mistaken is that you'd like to see the individual subforums/topics open w/out the top banners so you can maximize viewing. That isn't in the realm of possibility with our current theme but we'll keep an eye out for any modifications to the code when we go back to it--whether it's this theme or the alternate one we will provide members. No problem, happy to help a bit. Thanks for keeping an eye on that in the future Just the "announcement area" gone/hidden/shrunk would be a dramatic improvement for me. Right now it takes about 20% of the screen and bigger than the banner itself, this could free up room for more topics Just realised that if I hit cmd and - to reduce font size on safari one time everything falls into place so actually, my entire issue was the font size too big for my taste. Can I custom that already ? EDIT: I just realised that hitting CMD - on safari one time to reduce font size everything falls into place and the site has now normal proportion for my preference. Can I custom that already ?

w4vz 29 Posted December 27, 2015 Just upgraded to el capitan from yosemite and I cannot find the edit post button anywhere in safari. All I see at the bottom is quote, rep and signature Downloading firefox and chrome to compare but Im still vanilla atm Edit: Right after posting this I got the edit button but on this post only. Does that mean I cannot edit previous posts like my egpu guide ?
