MSI GT70 MXM Card

Recommended Posts

Hello,

The GTX 670m card in my GT70 0NC is defect. I would like to replace it by a low cost one.

Could you please tell me which one I can buy.

It's necessary to flash the bios/vbios?

In my country, i can buy some cheap ATI card.

Many thanks

5870m fromm dell works with modified drivers (leshacats) but fun stays at 100% all the time - probably with newest like 7970m enduro should works correcly and fans spins when temperature rise

You can use the following Nvidia GPU`s in GT70 ONC:

GTX 460M,GTX 560M,GTX 570M,GTX 580M,GTX 670M,GTX 675M,GTX 670MX,GTX 675MX,GTX 680M,GTX 770M,GTX 780M,GTX 880M,GTX 970M,GTX 980M.

This is not a comolete List, but for this Cards you can get a MSI Vbios.

The cheapest Way to Upgrade i think is to use a GTX 675MX with OC Vbios.

The Card Price is nearly 160€ and the Performance is with OC Vbios 5500 to 6000 Points in 3Dmark11.

it also supports ATi HD cards- they are much cheaper to get like HD 7970m- 8970m

for your interest:

i upgrated it with a ATI HD 7970m- with standart CPU i7-3610Qm you`ll get a firestrike13 nearly 4,6k without overclocking under Windows10-

(Windows7 value will be higher than Windows10 because of drivers   +200 to +300 points)

This is same /better value like a GTX 870m

But you have to modify your cooler plate.

You can use Cards on Keplerchip from GTX 670MX to GTX 880M,Cards on Maxwellchips from GTX 970M-GTX 980M or Ati Cards like HD 7970M/8970M.

For Keplerchip You can use the old Heatsink from GTX 570M - GTX 675M without Modification,You only need more Thermalpads.

For a HD 7970M/HD8970M You need to modify the Heatsink.

You can buy a MSI Heatsink for HD 7970M/HD8970M and also for Kepler-and Maxwellcards for MSI.

If the Card are not from MSI You need to flash the MSI Vbios or a modified Driver INF.

If it is no Problem for You to modify a Heatsink, flash a Vbios or modify a INF then look for a cheap Card with Power and take it.

Are You not shure look for a Keplercard with MSI Vbios, but it is not complicated to flash a Vbios.

You can also ask for Advice when You find a Card.

This Card is a very overclockable Card.

The Basic Clock is only 600MHz,but the Card works between 900-1000MHz.

It is up from the Card.

With MSI OC VBios the Card makes more than 6000 Points in 3Dmark11.

Hi,

I have the same problem as tbhuy. I have MSI GT70 0NC with dead GTX670M. So I have AMD HD7970M original MSI from GX60 model with heatsink. When I tried it, the fan speed is full. Diode of power button has red color. When windows 10 installed the driver for HD7970m, it went to BSOD.

So I tried flash the latest official bios .10U (for Win7 models nonraid) and latest EC firmware 1414, situation is the same.

Please can you help me? I wouldn´t to buy any graphic card, when I have 100% working MSI HD7970m.

Thank you!

Seems like we need an unlocked BIOS for the 100% fan speed. BSOD is (most of the time) driver issue. Modded driver needed? I am about to change a dead GTX 670M to a 6970M using the heatsink of a GX70. Can't wait to test this!!

Unlocked Bios don`t help, the Fan Speed is up from the EC -Firmware.

You can use every Nvidia GPU up to GTX 980M.

I just want to confirm that I can install/drop in with no modification an MSI GTX 770M to my GT780DXR which has a GTX 570m 1.5gb. I would just like to use the original heatsink that is in system already. If the 770m requires a heatsink mod can someone post what I should look for and if I dont want to mod the heatsink will an MSI GTX680 just drop in ?

Hi, i have info of my experience for MSI GT60/GT70 and some questions:
1. For start 9xxm series on ivy bridge cpu:
1)need mod driver for gtx 9xxm series with stock vbios from clevo. And need throttle stop program for leave throttle. And need Bios upgrade to .51x or .71x version for GT70 or analog for GT60.
2) need write vbios with mod id from Perma or other. Then video card placed good and works with official drivers.
2. For start 1060 on GT70 on Haswell cpu:
1) People say in upper posts this card start with mod drivers. But vbios from which dealer need? MSI or CLEVO?
2)Can Perma does make vbios with mod ID for GTX 1060 for MSI GT70/GT60. Then we can use official drivers? Please help with this ))))

I have no graphics card at the moment, but will be ordering a gtx 1060. If you will find Zotac 1070, then try to order it.

      Hi Everybody,

I am the owner of a HP elitbook 8770W, an old but still very decent notebook.
I've upgraded the GPU several times , first with a GTX 970M and a while later with a GTX 1070 mobile.
I've bought those cards from pretty reliable sources (a seller on Ali I know pretty well) and I knew beforehand that the cards were compatible with my 8770w.
Unfortunately, my 1070 broke down due to heating issues.

Now I can get my hands on a Quadro P5200. The original ones don't have a EEPROM chip soldered on the board, and rely on the notebook VBIOS.
However, the one I want has a BIOS chip soldered on the board with a HP max-q bios, which would be perfect for me.
Well, if it's compatible of course.
The seller cannot give me a statisfactory answer to that and I'm not sure they are willing to refund me if this is not the case.

Now on to my concrete questions:
Does the build-in notebook VBIOS matter if there is a chip with a bios on the mxm card itself? If it does matter, since my notebook does recognize other pascal cards like the 1070 and 1080, is it wild to assume that a P5200 will also be recognized? They all seem to have a 86.04.x.x.x BIOS. Is there any way to check the notebook VBIOS compatibility against the one on the card?
      Thank you in advance!

      Hello,

I am new on this forum, so I am sorry if posting at the wrong place. It's been 2 weeks that I am searching how to make my GTX 980M 8GB working Inside my Alienware 17 R1 (June 2014, i7 4710MQ, 60 Herts Display, OPTIMUS and the GTX 880M Inside died.)
After "quickly" looking some forums, I saw that a 980M would easily fit Inside … but maybe I was wrong.

Hardware wasn't a problem. I've also could install drivers by modding the nvdmi or nvcvi. inf files. The card was recognied BUT :
the clock speed is locked a 135 or 405 Mherts and fan is not runing when booted up.
I tried to flash vBios with nvflash and some ROM I found on vBios collection … but no way to get this working properly.

So, i'm coming here. I've seen many people talking about Prema or svl7 or other big boss in the place … but ? how ? where ? when ?

Inside the peripherial manager I have this in remote acces path : PCI\VEN_10DE&DEV_1617&SUBSYS_05AA1028&REV_A1\4&D590A51&0&0008
So I assume my GTX 980M card ID is 1617 and vendor and PC Model are 05AA 1028.
But near the "Standard Microsoft Video Card" there is a yellow exclamation point and Inside details it says "this peripherial doesn't work properly" when no Nvidia drivers installed.
I could find some vBios with 1617 (Asus) but black screen at boot up. Since laptop model where not the same .. probably.
And I wasn't able to find 1617 with the existing 05AA 1028 … as the GTX 980M was not an option for my model. (AW 17 R1 2014 ,60Herts)
I tried 353.60, 382.33 and 419.35 drivers. The latest one seems easier to install but longer.

BIOS is A16 from Dell. And I am using Windows 10. Got a Dell 330W brick.

I saw a guy with the exact model as me, he gets a modded vBios especially for his configuration, then everything worked easily … but can't find the topic again

I guess depending on the card info and the laptop model … a dedicated vBios is required …

So, If anyone here got some informations or any kind of help for me, it would be very nice.

      Thanks for reading and help.

PS: there are a lot of files, pictures and links that I can't see on this forum .. even after registration ….

I'd like to know if anyone thinks its possible for an m1000m mxm card to work in a Dell Optiplex 9020 AIO. It has an mxm-a slot for an old AMD Radeon HD 8750A in it. It is rated for 45W max, while the m1000m is only 40W so I didn't see an issue with power. If I put one in that was flashed with a Dell vBios would it work? Or am I oversimplifying things?
