Turmel
The picture of the BIOS above is great! Thanks Hyperfish. Would anyone know where the EC chip is located on the M17x R4 motherboard? My son blind flashed the bios and it bricked the motherboard. I've ordered and received a new bios chip and It also came with an EC chip (Embedded Controller I believe). I would like to replace both and just need a location of said EC chip. Any help would be much appreciated.

I'm just posting as I used this as a reference and ended up getting in a total muddle because of conflicting information. Thanks for posting the images however. Both chips are located on the top side of the motherboard, underneath the black adhesive plastic sheet.
Hyperfish
Yes it seems you are correct. U48 is the bios and U36 contains the ec (embedded controller). Sorry for the mix up.
