I did not want to ship it to ASUS as****les because they usually bring back horrible hardware in my NEW PC and screw something up anyways:) so this is g751jy disassembly and it is also applies for g751jt.... no stupid questions please however questions are always welcomed even stupid ones ..

Just out of curiosity, why did you have to tear it down completely because of a bad overclock?

The problem is that is the CMOS battery all the way under the motherboard and you have to unscrew the mobo in order to flip it over. When you have bad oc (aka too under clocked cpu) you need to ray bios completely because pc stint torn on at all

The bezel is attached to keyboard, it's all one piece. Take the back panel off, pull out the HDD so you don't damage it. Now you will have access to some ram ports in the back but if you want compete access, then you need to unscrew all the screws. Then flip your pc over. Now the back panel, the one over the vents will come off. Be careful not to tare the speakers off. Disconnect that little cable. You will see bunch of screws. You need to disconnect your display. Once you do that pry a little on the bezel with really thin knife or something flat. Don't use screw driver because it will leave marks and you don't want that (too much pressure in one spot will do that). Once you do that lift the back end (closer to you) very carefully. Bunch of cables will be connected to the mobo. Disconnect them, don't just pull but unlatch then carefully remove. Now the panel is off. You need to unscrew the corner piece on the top right and unplug the vents, pull them out and the unscrew the motherboard. Flip it over. Now you have access to other 2 Ram slots. I know it's a pain but that how you do it. Might repaste as well while at it. I do not take any responsibility if you f#^% something up.

Thanks for sharing, OP. I have a burning desire to swap my stock Broadcom 802.11ac wireless chip for one of Intel. I am able to remove all the screws on the bottom of the case and the rear hinge cover. I even removed the 3x covered up by the optical drive. However, I am stuck at how to remove the keyboard portion. I do not see any screw holding it back, yet I am meeting firm resistance when trying to prying it up. I can feel the middle section is loos, as it flexes when I pull with one finger. But the edges are firmly in place, not moving at when pulled. Am I missing something? I recall when I opened up my G75VW, I did not have trouble lifting the keyboard section. Any input is appreciated.

If you removed all the bottom screws + the optical drive screws, the keyboard just pops out. Give some force to it and start from one side, you can use some plastic tool to help pop it out. No screws are holding it. However be careful once the keyboard is removed there are couple ribbon cables attached to mobo, so make sure you disconnect them.

I recently took apart my G751JY because I wanted to see if something was stuck inside the right fan that was preventing it from working. After I put it back together, my touchpad decided to stop working. The touchpad will move the cursor, but will not click, nor do the left or right buttons click. Did I reconnect something wrong that would cause this? I reconnected everything a 2nd time and still have the problem. Also, there are three connections from the screen to the motherboard. What are the two on the left side for? Speakers? Camera? Thanks.

On the left side I think its camera both because speakers connect in the back with that panel which comes off and reviles the screen mounts. As for touch pad, let me ask you something. When you were disconnecting it did you just pull the flat IDC cable out or did you lift that little lever up before removing it? If you did lift it than you are good, just remove the keyboard and make sure it sits properly if not than you could of damaged it bro

I read that the G750 has a warranty seal on one of the heatsink bolt.. it's the same with the G751? Or are there any other warranty seal?

I read on the official Asus forum that the G751 has NO arrenty seal of notice (maybe only the "blue" ink on the screws when you un-screw them). So you should be ok with dismantelyung it yourself.

Thanks for the info. I myself have the G751JY, but for now no reason to dismantle it to clean the fans since it is only 4 monts old and good temperatures in modern games (CPU max 85°C, GPU max 72 °C). But in the future I may disassable it since, like you said, Asus tends to return the notebooks scrached when sent for RMA.

No I t would not because you can't tell if its stock or non-stock ones its applied. Unless you mess something up in process of disassembly they would not even know that you did it

HDD is a raptor HDD, as for the manual their is none because ASUS does not actually want you to open up their laptops. This is as close as you get to PDF manual. If you need help with cables etc, let me know I can help you out

Wanted to share my experience here to help other users with a much less invasive solution to restore BIOS access and make the PC boot again...

 

The other day I bricked my ASUS G751JY: black screen on reboot after I used Intel XTU, where I checked the very dangerous option "Force Reboot" (which actually means "Apply on reboot even before the POST and BIOS loading!") after I changed core MHz from 100 to 108. No BIOS booting, nothing: laptop switched on but after 10 secs switched off. Any key combo to access BIOS wasn't working anymore and all I could see was a black unlit screen.

Lucky enough I've found a way to accede the BIOS...

My G751JY was stock: the other 2 upper RAM connectors were empty (16GB).... So I tried adding to the stock 16GB a PC3 12800S @ 1.5V (no DDR3L) in the upper (wrong, on purpose!) slot: the system did not boot at all and shutdown immediately after I pressed the Power button on (weird!). Then I moved the bank in the slot below (correct) and tried to boot: something strange happened at this time... Black screen, but after 5 secs it flashed (is alive!) and reset the BIOS due to config changes!! From that moment on I was able to access again the BIOS and I resurrected my powerful G751JY!!

EDIT:
Beware though! XTU was still installed and on next successful reboot it tried to re-install the bad CPU profile!
To avoid that, reboot first in Safe Mode and with 'Autoruns' tool disable everything related to XTU from Everything tab (filter "intel") or the loop will restart again!

I recently tried to update the BIOS of my G751JY from 210 to 211, through WinFlash Utility (yes I know now, not a wise decision, but did it before with 209 and 210, without Consequences). After Windows Shutdown, nothing happened, all LED'S on, except HD LED, but no action of screen, fans, keyboard.

Reading on other (Asus) forums, it looks like a bricked BIOS and have to turn it in for RMA. Trying to find out if there are other solutions. Note: I haven't yet tried option of memory like hexane suggests. Anybody same experience and a solution other than returning it to Asus?

You can try recovery your bios with "Ctrl+Home" method. Just search in Google how to.
