Slovedon
I've been using the 1 ft Thunderbolt cable that came with the Akitio Thunder2, but I'm looking to buy a longer one. My question is: Is it possible that the much longer 9 foot cable affect eGPU performance at all? (overall performance/latency)
Dschijn
I don't think so. Maybe with the optical TB cables which need to convert the signal.2m Apple cable is working flawless.
martinm0
I have one of the StarTech 3m Thunderbolt cables. I will have to test out for you at some point. I can say that it did work during my first round of eGPU testing, though I did have instances where computer didn't pick up on the eGPU (not sure if it was the cable or just typical issues with eGPU not always being recognized). I don't think I saw any real issues while it worked. Maybe I'll test out all the cables I have - 1m, 2m (original OEM Apple) and 3m StarTech.
