progh0st
Hi everyone, i have a laptop sager 8230 with gtx 770m 75 watt card. I want to upgrade it to the new gtx 970m 81 watt card. I contacted Sager and ask if my laptop can upgrade its gpu and they say no. But i think its possible, the only difference i can find is that 970m needs 6 watts more, it dosent look like a big deal to me. Also i found a ebay seller that said 970m is supported for my model. Let me know what you think!
Khenglish
That's an SM series so it should work.
dean007
Yes it does work. It's an mxm card as well. Just make sure you watch Temps and put some nice thermal paste like mx4 or something. It'll be fine. Undervolt the CPU to give some OC room for gpu and you're good to go
d3nver
6 Watts more are not too much so it should work, both card have mxm 3.0b, i don't know if your laptop don't have any black list of hardware id's. But it should works, and as Dean007 wrote, you need to get good cooling, so Gelid GC Extreme is good choice
