James D 21 Posted August 24, 2014 I guess IQ test is really needed to be registered here. You can't know if other guy is trolling or he is THAT DUMB to be unable to understand basics like 2+2 = 4 or where is your right hand and where is left one.
StamatisX 1066 Posted August 24, 2014 Trust me you have no idea how many fail that kind of test... (I saw your reported post)

Xonar 419 Posted August 28, 2014 You don't even want to see half the shit that gets stuck in the queue. Unfortunately the system prevents us from seeing what the user responded to (if they don't quote posts) so some of these slip by.
thementallydeceased 5 Posted December 28, 2015 lol, Like I say. People should have to have a license to use a computer. However, My brain isn't always with me. I find that my IQ seems to rise when I have my Coffee.

Just remember that wise old saying when it comes to dealing with people... you cannot cure stupid. I vote for a test. I cannot even begin to function until the nectar or the gods begins to flow through my mortal veins. And the older I get, the more life giving it becomes. danger007 9 Posted May 28, 2016 Well I was going to say, that sometimes people get excited and want to jump into the pool and start swimming without having read the rules of the pool (at least the basics). Especially when it comes to tech support. Remember how your parents are when they ask for help with their computer, laptop, table or phone. They are the same as the users you are apparently upset with. I am that way too in most instances. So I look around and then if I see something that I want to respond to I look to see if there is a FAQ/Forum with rules. Sometimes easy to find sometimes not. I read the welcome message but it didn't lay down the rules when it comes to posting in the forums and I went to the forum category that seemed a natural for it and it didn't spell out either. Now I am more likely to dig to stay out of trouble, while others I am sure it is that rush in and get going, much like our real lives, we are trying to do too many things with too few hours to do them in. Max2016 1 Posted June 4, 2016 I always try to be patient when friends or family ask for I.T. support because I still remember learning all the basics as a teenager and thinking I would never pick it up. It took me 3 years to get my mother confident enough to use a word processor without me looking over her shoulder, but I have to say when they "get it" I get the warm fuzzies. On the Internet it's not always like that. People are now used to getting instant solutions, and it's made them short tempered as a result. There's nothing more off putting than someone coming on to your forum and demanding an answer to a question they haven't even asked properly.

There's nothing more off putting than someone coming on to your forum and demanding an answer to a question they haven't even asked properly. I don't think it's a matter of it being on the Internet or not - People's expectations for tech support have simply changed. People simply expect their problems to be solved instantly for minimum or no cost. People simply expect to bring their problem to someone, then assume that particular someone is an archmage with some special arcane magicks who can cast a spell to fix their wifi in 5 seconds for 5 cents. -- Back when computers and other digital electronics were just starting to see adoption in peoples' homes, people didn't really understand computers, and had mad respect for those who did. "What the hell are all these buttons? If I touch the wrong one will it explode my $3000 computer?" "omg you can use a computer? You must be a f#@king GENIUS! I can never learn what all those buttons do!" This is still at least partially true for older folk or less-tech-immersed folk for whom computers were not something that were there all the time, and instead something that was new at some point in their life and had a genuine learning experience in order to figure out how to use one, and in doing so developed some respect for those who have that knowledge and imparted it onto them. It's like learning language. I am bilingual (technically trilingual, but that's like saying that European Spanish and Mexican Spanish are two different languages), and I have no recollection of ever learning these two languages. I simply take my knowledge of these languages for granted. However, if I wanted to learn a new language now, I'd actually have to try, and there would be a real learning curve, and I would have deep respect for the people who know that language.

Ramonster 1 Posted April 23 what a topic about the IQ barrier I have found here, throughout my life I have discovered that the measurement of this segment of an individual is only a process of competition between those who feel more capable and those who like to follow, given that IQ measures efficient problem solving, it cannot measure experience! This supposes a natural barrier for a process of social escalation, if there are individuals in which their native languages are different from each other, the conversations hardly reach exciting levels in moral or social matters, in the technological media there is a collective base of knowledge integration and experience that fits perfectly, although they are great minds who create high-tech design elements, it is often people with focused experience, who usually solve their common problems, this does not make them smarter than the creators, it's just that your pressures and approaches are less risky! Putting an IQ test could close the minds of the members of this forum on the theory that if you only accept those who think like you, you will only find followers who go to the same place, and thus close all possibilities of finding solutions or better ones. solutions to each event a hug to all I hope and you are very well
