Jerenny 17 Posted August 4, 2014 Does anyone know what in the world to do with this menu? Or is it completely useless on our laptops? I have the i5-4200m model.
Khenglish 1155 Posted August 5, 2014 That CPU has locked multipliers, but it looks like you can lower the voltage to keep the cpu cooler, and to keep it within TDP for higher turbo boost for heavy loads.Play around with "core voltage offset" and make the corresponding "offset prefix" negative. allstone 53 Posted August 5, 2014 I would advise of extreme caution modifying these settings unless you sure you can recover original BIOS settings if changing these would make your laptop unbootable. Is not XTU enough?
rtfm 10 Posted August 8, 2014 can you disable OC by setting the max OC ratio to 1? And do you have a edited bios, i did not see that menu in my bios.
conscriptvirus 19 Posted August 8, 2014 I would stay away from that Menu and use intel XTU...someone in another thread already messed up his computer by having unstable settings in the overclocking menu. Intel xtu may let you get higher (i was able to get my i7 to 3.5ghz from 3.4 ghz but even with that, the temps were getting too high).

But to run nicely @3.6Ghz.. I am yet to find best possible settings match for 36x..
Ullebulle 12 Posted August 14, 2014 I would recommend to use ThrottleStop. you could have constant 3.1Ghz when under heavy load with that and could monitor your temperatures a bit before doing anything else.
gtx92 10 Posted August 15, 2014 I wouldn't suggest overclocking laptops. Its very unstable since theres no way you can cool it down while overclocking it to higher ghz.
