DynamiteZerg
@J95 Hi mate, I'm finally ready to try the latest driver with my 980M in my Dell Precision M6800. All my games are crapping out on me due to my old drivers. I will update the folks in NBR once I get mine up and running. I have been reading your other thread "[Alienware & Clevo] Aftermarket Upgrades Driver Support - Modded INF", do I have to flash the Prema V2 vBIOS to use the drivers? Which line in nv_dispi.inf should I mod? Or should I be modding the nvdmi.inf instead? Anyway here are my Hardware IDs. Knallebal
I have an Asus G73SW and swapped the GPU for a Nvidia GTX 770M i had it working for 2 years (i never changed video-drivers) now that i have to update the video-drivers in order to be able to play Battlefield 1 etc i ran into trouble. i downloaded the latest nvidia drivers for mobile 372.70. modded them using the usual way (which worked 2 years ago) but when trying to install the driver without driversigning enforcement off i get an error: driver not compatible device-id string: NVIDIA_DEV.11E0 = "NVIDIA GeForce GTX 770M" these are my hardware id's from devicemanager PCI\VEN_10DE&DEV_11E0&SUBSYS_11E010DE&REV_A1 PCI\VEN_10DE&DEV_11E0&SUBSYS_11E010DE PCI\VEN_10DE&DEV_11E0&CC_030000 PCI\VEN_10DE&DEV_11E0&CC_0300 any help would be appreciated, i can't use my laptop for 2 weeks already
szumial
Hi @J95! I am reading through some of your posts trying to figure out how to get my modded laptop on. I came across this topic where @DynamiteZerg had success with a GTX980 in a Dell M6800. My situation is similar as I have a M6700 with a GTX 880m but so far no luck with installing the drivers. I am wondering what might be the problem - the OS, the card itself or the platform? Windows 10 x64 shows it as Microsoft Basic Display Adapter, but in GPU-z I can actually see the correct name. Would the above mentioned method work for me as well? If that is so, can you reupload the files (getting error messages)?

szumial
Thank you @J95 for replying - one last thing is that I can't access the zip files - it says there is something wrong with my account. edit Just got the modified INFs and tried your method, but I still failed to install the drivers - the installation program just gave me "failed". I believe the drivers refuse to be installed because there was never meant to be a M6700 with GTX880m combination so there mus be something messed up with hardware id codes. What can I do to install the GPU properly? edit 2 After some additional fiddling around I did install the driver with your method - the GPU is being properly rean by GPU-Z and device manager. Only trouble remains it's usage and switching - it's not working in Furmark or any game that I launch. Why could that be? PC: HP ELITEBOOK 8570W OS: Windows 10 64bit GPU: Nvidia Geforce GTX 965m ex gpu: Quadro K1000M From device manager gpu hw id info: PCI\VEN_10DE&DEV_1427&SUBSYS_176B103C&REV_A1 PCI\VEN_10DE&DEV_1427&SUBSYS_176B103C PCI\VEN_10DE&DEV_1427&CC_030000 PCI\VEN_10DE&DEV_1427&CC_0300 Nvidia driver: 391.35 whql Old info from INF: %NVIDIA_DEV.0FFC.176B.103C% = Section028, PCI\VEN_10DE&DEV_0FFC&SUBSYS_176B103C NVIDIA_DEV.0FFC.176B.103C = "NVIDIA Quadro K1000M" What i did to INF i added lines: %NVIDIA_DEV.1427.176B.103C% = Section028, PCI\VEN_10DE&DEV_1427&SUBSYS_176B103C NVIDIA_DEV.1427.176B.103C = "NVIDIA GeForce GTX 965M" INF-files which i edit: nvbli.inf nvhmi.inf I had Quadro K1000M still in place when i modified inf-files. After modified inf-files, i installed driver without any problem. I also type lines to cmd: bcdedit.exe -set loadoptions DDISABLE_INTEGRITY_CHECKS bcdedit.exe -set TESTSIGNING ON Shutdown PC and installed GTX 965m gpu.
