Has anyone had issues where their y510p hangs when shutting down or restarting as in the laptop is stuck on the "shutting down" or "restart" screen. The only way i was able to shut mine off was by holding down the power button.

Like Florin said this is due to a process hanging and not closing down. I think what they're eluding to is... did this start happening after you installed something in particular or has it always happened?

Also, are you on Windows 7 or 8? How long of hang are we talking about? Do you have an HDD or an SSD?

This has happened for a while now, so i don't exactly remember. I'm on windows 8 and i have a lenovo y510p so my os is on my 1tb hdd and i have a 24gb ssd( i uninstalled express cache cause i could never get it set up right).

Now what've noticed is when i try to shutdown the computer, after a little while the computer crashes and restarts and gives me this error in the dump file:

Also i have an update that isn't installing for some reason and i'm not sure why, this may be the cause of it, here is the windows log:

You may have left it too long at this point but what if you try to SYSTEM RESTORE to the farthest date you can get. If nothing else take a look at the programs you have installed along the way when a RESTORE POINT was created to provide some insight into what may be causing your issue.
