swimmerstar
Is it possible, and where do you buy the mobile cpus.
svl7
Technically any mobile Intel fourth gen i series CPU should work, but I advise against anything above 47W TDP due to the cooling system of the Y410p.Check ebay or similar for CPUs. Clevo resellers have them as well.
swimmerstar
How would i install the cpu?
svl7
By removing the current one and replacing it with the new one Details can be found in the service manual, grab it here: http://download.lenovo.com/consumer/mobiles_pub/ideapad_y410py510p_hmm.pdf
abradner
Given the 47w restriction, does anyone have any recommendations?
octiceps
Given the 47w restriction, does anyone have any recommendations?Look here: List of Intel Core i7 microprocessors - Wikipedia, the free encyclopediaBasically anything except the i7-4930MX should work. Good luck adding a faster (and hotter CPU) as the Y410p already overheats with the 4700MQ.
goalmeida
Why would you upgrade in 1st place ? I think it would be too expensive, and I would add a lot of upgrades before considering replacing the 4700mq
krwilson
Why would you upgrade in 1st place ? I think it would be too expensive, and I would add a lot of upgrades before considering replacing the 4700mqExactly, why would you? An SSD and going to 16Gb of decent RAM would give you an amazing performance kick...and be a lot lighter on your wallet too!
sergioosh
My recommendation: don't do it. Waste of money, and barely any performance gain.
goalmeida
Add extra RAM and a SSD, will feel so much faster, and maybe cheaper !
franknickzhang
I wanna change mine to 4900QM, however it seemed that their power are different in tests, though intel says they are the same.
