Volts13
This post should pretty much go on the1st page of the post because this is such a useful information. This solved all the issue I had(including emotionally spending money on the 880m which didn't work until I saw this). Thanks J95 again
Volts13
@J95My apologies, quick one I am following all your threads including the one how to mod my nvdmi.infI have a m17 r3 and just got a gtx880m(clevo)I had 344.11 NVidia download and I've tried moding the nvdmi.inf (which I pretty much sure this is the problem)It ran pass the NVidia "Checking Compatible Scan"After I choose a clean install it didn't install any driver.Any chance if I can request a moded nvdmi.inf file for this to compare with the one I failed.... chrisav
Hello, sorry maybe I should create a new thread (I don't know how to do it, maybe not yet allowed to do so), I had pretty much the same config than the original post of this thread : MSI GT683R laptop (motherboard E16F2) with original GPU : GTX560M. I tried an upgrade of the GPU, bought GTX870M, with the correct adapted heatsinks. But when I put the graphic card gtx870m +heatsinks inside, I have no dispay output (even Bios access). Screen doesn't start at all. It's like if the card is not recognized. I read that there is something to do with the Kepler Card, using Optimus, and not compatible with Sandy Bridge mother boards, as the kepler graphic card is waiting that the boot seuquence been displayed by the integrated intel graphic gpu ... Is this correct, if nearly yes how can I resolv this issue ? thanks a lot for your interest to my post, and again, sorry if not in the correct place ... J95
Win8? first, you must disable driver signing.Command Prompt (Admin) Win key + X Type:bcdedit /set {current} testsigning yes-> "The operation completed successfully" -> reboot -> Install drivers.Exit test mode, cmd (admin).bcdedit /set {current} testsigning no->reboot.http://forum.techinferno.com/nvidia/6307-%5Balienware%5D-aftermarket-upgrades-driver-support-modded-inf-6.html#post106195

I had to press "F7" while choosing the options. (which also clear stated in the menu, but I was too hasty which leads to stupid mistake)Thanks again for your help. And sorry for the bad English as it's not my first language.

J95
R3/780M 120Hz & R4s/LGD02C5 (R3 monitor) users. This driver v344.48 is simply not compatible with our screens. DSR doesn't yet support mobile cards, still it messes up monitor profiles on some unsupported systems (120Hz). Even desktop 120Hz/144Hz and G-Sync monitors reported several issues. AW17 & M17xR4 3D Samsung SEC5044 screens are not affected by this bug.Feedback appreciated...

MJ6
Question.I'm swapping out a potentially faulty MB on my R3 to correct a screen issue that I've narrowed down. I upgraded to the 780m as well so I have the A12 BIOS flashed to the current board, but the replacement board will have an older BIOS set flashed by default. Can I still boot into windows with IGP enabled and the card installed in order to flash to the A12, or should I create a bootable USB with the A12 on it in order to update the replacement board? Thanks ahead of time. MJ6
I bit the bullet and did the swap regardless.Short answer: yes, the R3 will boot without a GPU installed in order to load up the A12 bios.
