Hey guys, i´m thinking does anyone of you have any image locating where is the bios chip of the p375sm? i did a bad flash bricked my notebook (again) and the fn+b method did not work :/

I will use a programmer to reflash the official bios and solder this so i can fiddle with the bios without problems!

As it happens, yes. It's for the SM-A version, but it should be pretty similar.

Interesting adapter, btw, hadn't seen that one before. Arm and a leg, though ... currently use these 200 mil adapters, going for $0.30 each, so ~33x cheaper. Unfortunately, form the looks of it your adapter is ~200 mil as well, so neither of them will work for the 150 mil ECs (or a vbios). Looks like they'll do fine for the BIOS and ME; the adapter appears to have a very compact design, so not a lot of additional space is required beyond the eeprom footprint.

Solved the issue for the vbios with some (ugly) trickery and a 200mil eeprom, but it'd have been better if the pads of the adapter extended more towards the centre of the chip, that way they'd work easily for the 150 mils as well.

Hey man thanks for the help!!!!

Now i am thinking i how to flash cause as Khenglish stated

" If you don't have a backup image I'm pretty sure you're screwed. BIOS updates that are downloaded are not runnable. They don't have NVRAM configured properly, so a functional NVRAM must already be in place."

And well i was using premabiosmod so i don´t know if i just dl the file and try to flash in programmer will work

Hi there,

I’ve been experiencing some issues with my Sky X9E that is several months old and would kindly ask for someone to help out if they’ve had a similar experience…
The thing is that recently it started behaving strangely. It would suddenly fire up all of its fans to the maximum and start beeping. It would go on for a minute until it shuts down… at first it was happening very rarely, but since a week ago it started doing that every time I turn it on. No matter what I tried, it kept on doing it… I’ve restored default settings in bios, installing and re-installing different aps, removed battery… nothing. Every time same thing happens. It doesn’t matter if I’m overloading the system with some rendering (I’m using the machine for video production purposed…) or just browsing the net. Sometimes it would start within a minute from turning it on and sometime after 10-15 minutes... even if I go to bios it would happen…

Check it out how it looks here:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vyHTa0n8BJs

Now comes the bad part…
Being annoyed extremely by this and the fact I had a project that I needed to deliver soon, I figured I should maybe try to update bios… that seemed like only reasonable option.
I’ve found P870DM-G BIOS version 1.05.07 (My system is with G-sync and 2 980m graphic cards), then made a bootable DOS flash drive and decided to go ahead and flash the bios…
What happened is that the flashing process was interrupted by my machine reacting in the same way as previously mentioned and it shut down in the middle of the process…
And of course, my system is bricked now…
But here is the funny part, even though it is bricked, it still behaves in the same way… monitor doesn’t turn on, but after a minute or two, fans again fire up and after a minute it turns off, but now it is not beeping.

Take a look here:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Lbl5F_7ufyM

I’ve tried to place a stock bios and fn+B while turning on and machine would turn off itself and back on, but nothing would happen.

Anyway, does anyone here has any experience like this or advise what can be done?
Any kind of help would be much appreciated!

Thanks,

Try these for FN+B recovery:

As for the original 'beeping' problem':

The Keyboard controller is 'loosing' the thermal signal and in return does an emergency system shutdown. This can be due to a loose connection of either the CPU/GPU FAN cable, due to a GPU hardware defect or due to a messed up EC thermal table (software like e.g. XTU or CCC can cause this).

In case it's the later you can try an EC reset:

- Remove AC Adapter, battery and CMOS battery for at least 30s
- After that boot the system only into the F2 BIOS menu and remove the AC Adapter while the system is running for a few seconds before plugging it back in.

In this case since software can be the cause of the problem, booting back into Windows may mess the tables up again, hence you would have to let the system stay in BIOS to make sure that it is indeed fixed before booting back into Windows.
If the problem returns after booting to Windows you may have to re-install Windows after repeating the reset.

In case the EC reset doesn't help and the emergency thermal shutdown still happens in F2 BIOS menu after the CMOS reset, you can try an EC re-flash in DOS.

For this I have prepared fastest EC only flashes, as you found out the system won't survive along flashing procedure like with the BIOS.

Thanks Prema on your quick feedback!

I've downloaded and renamed P870DM-G.BIN from your link to P870DM-G.rom and P870DMG.rom, but my system is not reacting still... Am I doing this correctly?

When you mention XTU, it actually started in around same time as when I installed the XTU... so that might be a problem.

DO NOT RENAME THE FILES!

XTU messes up FANs on Skylake Clevo system, stay away from it unless you only use it for benching and do not touch any settings. ;)

Alright alright, those renamed files were actually next to the original  P870DM-G.BIN  file on the same flash, but still nothing...

Thanks for the XTU tip, now if i could get it running i might do something about it...

Hi Prema,

The system is not reacting at all to this... tried connecting the flash drive to different ports, but still nothing. Is there any possibility that this might not be the correct bios version?

Thanks,

If the system crashed after deleting the recovery section then it may need a hardware programmer to be recovered.

You can try to download the latest stock BIOS and use the recovery names as given in the download link I posted.

Thanks Prema, just to confirm,  P870DM-G.BIN corresponds to EUROCOM SKY X9E?

It's certainly possible, but never had that particular problem with Clevo bioses.

Only thing you have to be aware of is that the me+bios file is appended end-to-end in a single file ('P375SM03.PM2', 6MB) and it has to be written to two eeproms (2 + 4 MB), so you have to separate them first before using the programmer. Hex editor or something has always worked fine for me, at least for the stock bioses, but don't think Prema's mods are any different at this point.

Search for 'ITE Tech' or navigate to the right hex offset:

Spoiler

A final check is making sure the byte size matches: 32 Mbit bios eeprom -> 32/8 (=MB) * 1024 (=kB) * 1024 (=B) = 4,194,304 bytes. Same thing for the ME eeprom.

The EC files are smaller than their eeproms since they're not padded like the ME and bios, but after a regular flash it simply leaves the rest of the eeprom blank (FF's), so these don't need additional steps.

Hi Prema,

I was previously unfamiliar with you and your work. Looks like you're doing some serious stuff here, I'm actually surprised.

I was just wondering if you would have time to confirm if this should work?

I Have a PC Specialist 17.3'' Octane II laptop, it is the Clevo P771DM-G with GTX 970M (G-SYNC) GPU & i7 6700k CPU.

So I have downloaded your vBIOS: GTX970M-G_6GB_MXM_DM_OC_PM_v2.

Obviously would like to know if it is the right file for my laptop.

Also is there any BIOS mod that would work on my laptop? Obviously BIOS is locked by American Megatrends..

And a last question to already long post..

Is it possible to swap my 970M to 980M and use your software to make it work on the very same laptop?

Sorry if some of the questions are obvious, I'm only good at hardware.

Thanks for your time!

Ziggy

Hi Guys,

So I've built a Monster P370SM3 and ended up with a parts one I am building too.  I'm a noob here but not in IT, 18 years building computers.  I was wondering if anyone knew of a list of MXM cards both AMD and Nvidia that work with the P370SM3?  I plan to flash the Prema Bios as soon as I can download the bios here and start playing around with my parts P370SM3 machine.  I'll start reading some of these post to see what else I can learn.  Thanks!

Sorry I can't use re-seller logos to make Mods for end-user...

I have refunded your donation so you can instead use it to promote your account on TI and also get svl7's vBIOS for your 780M.

Dear @Prema I did your advice about supporting this fantastic community by upgrading my account to  T|I Elite Member - Life , thank you for your kind support and efforts.

Hi,

The vbios you have downloaded seems to be the correct one for your VGA card.

Prema bios may exist for p7xxDM series, but their launches are delayed for an unknown time (see forum for the reason).

And for your last question, you can swap to 980m without any laptop mod, if the VGA card has got the correct bios. P7xxdm are natively compatible up to 980m.

Hi,

Thanks for a quick reply, though my laptop got stolen yesterday and I no longer need to worry about any upgrades.. Great..

So I have flashed the Prema V2 Bios to my P370SM3, works great and looks cool booting, thanks Prema!  I had one question.  I'm installed Windows 10 on mine.  I loaded the Hotkey app 8.0145, the keyboard lighting works now which is awesome..  Is there a way to get the fn keys like volume and brightness to work?  Is this bios or app related?  Thanks for any help!

Hi,

I'm new to maxwell overclocking and i'm planning to buy a Clevo P650re. What kind of vbios should I use ? I'm also worried about nvidia optimus. Since this laptop have a intel chipset I would like to use it also to take notes during lessons. Will optimus still work after flashing the new vbios ?

Thank you in advance.

It looks like my Fn key and Win key are swapped.  I see pictures of keyboards on ebay with that being the case.  I think it is the keyboard I got with this computer is a replacement with someone swapping the keys?  Does that sound right?
