Founder Brian Posted April 17, 2011 Founder Share Posted April 17, 2011 Same setup as you except add on the 500 gb momentus xt too since its a 30 dollar upgrade. I have an existing one so I plan to RAID 0 them.
e46justice
oh wow only 30 dollar upgrade? thats the hybrid drive right? how much faster is the os with a hybrid? i was planning on getting a vertex 3 at a later date, but for 30 dollars it seems like a deal. Founder Brian Posted April 17, 2011 Founder Share Posted April 17, 2011 It loads the OS quite a bit faster than a regular 7200 RPM drive. But there is a bit of stuttering with the latest firmware (I haven't upgraded to it). The RAID 0 performance is a lot better than a single Momentus XT so I look forward to it. You can see my reasoning for why in the other thread. Why the 460M? Dual 6970M Xfire is considerably better.
Ashtefere
He may want to upgrade to 485m third party.I certainly would if they dont have it as an option, or its too expensive.

I have to replace 3 times my ATI videocard on my desktop, I got a 9300 with a x300 which drivers cant be upgraded(and they are like 2 years old) So that's why I am choosing a Nvidia card.Unless I see some proof that ATI cleaned their act I will stick with Nvidia. And if we gonna get the P67 chipset wouldn't be wise to stay with the m17x-R3 which has an H67?edit here is a nice chart about the subjectIntel P67 vs H67 chipsets - Overclock.net - Overclocking.net Edited April 17, 2011 by wbabt007
Founder Brian Posted April 18, 2011 Founder Share Posted April 18, 2011 Lately I'd say AMD/ATi does better overall with drivers vs nVidia. There's still a few applications out there that perform better on nVidia hardware but they're becoming fewer and fewer. Overall I think AMD does a better job with hardware and is just as good with software.
JCrichton
Gonna plop in my Intel X-25 160gb SSD hard drive for starters. I wanna go with the extreme processor but it will be a while until I get the confidence to take advantage of it.Best Dual-GPU setup (whatever that is after I get all the info I need).Likely 8gb RAM and I'll upgrade myself if I want more.Intel Wifi.Blu-ray player. Not sure what else.Wireless HDMI (if available).
