walther
I updated my BIOS to A08 and installed a clean windows 7 with UEFI. At first I was unable to install the AMD driver(supplied by their site, not from dell). I used FN+F7 to switch GPUs and it installed fine, however when I use FN+F7 to switch back to AMD hybrid the Catalyst Control Center gives me an error stating I have no AMD GPU installed. Do I need to use the old driver supplied by Dell? I don't really need the integrated chip, and there is undoubtedly better performance with it off, but its a nice feature to have. Tseng
I use the unlocked BIOS A08 from svl7.One of the function in the unlocked BIOS is to turn off Intel Graphics completely. That's how I manage to use AMD 7970m exclusively on my M17x R4. Its quick to switch too and no driver involved Paranoid Galaxy S3 on Tapatalk
walther
I'm stuck on the A08 until there's an easy way to flash the unlocked version. The keyboard command to switch GPUs will work for now.

The keyboard command to switch GPUs will work for now.I would also make sure you are using the latest Intel gpu driver too. One person for m17xr4 had success here for flashing from A09 back then forward to A09 unlocked. http://forum.techinferno.com/alienware-m17x/1964-%5Bm17x-r4%5D-unlocked-bios-versions-2.html#post29926But going to A08-A09 can be a prob with the secure boot function in anycasehttp://forum.techinferno.com/alienware/2252-information-about-bios-updates-a07-a08-higher-m14xr2-m17xr4-m18xr2.html#post29581Paranoid Galaxy S3 on Tapatalk
walther
I've tried the blind flash back to A05, but it gets stuck in post until I pull the plug. I didn't think secure boot would stop it from flashing, so I will try again with it off.

Its been Extremely hit or miss. If you do get the bios reverted I hope the gpu switching function still works as you mentioned earlier.Paranoid Galaxy S3 on Tapatalk
walther
Thanks for the input guys. I tried blind flashing but it didn't work. I'm not sure how it didn't brick my BIOS, but its still working fine. Ill wait for svl7 to find a way to flash the unlocked version over A08.
