svl7
I can't really see why the vbios mod should cause issues with a certain application... maybe it's just the vbios version... did you try the 80.04.29.00.01 revised OCedition? TimeLord84
I solved my issue. Turns out my GPU heatsink wasn't even close to being flat, it is (was) quite concave. Straightened it out and my load temps are down from 89 degrees (and throttling) to 68. @drgnblues1 you may want to check your heatsink too before you go permanently modifying anything. Everything seemed ok with mine - it was spreading paste out nicely and it is hard to judge how flat it is thanks to the screw/mounting tags on the bottom of it but if you hold a perfectly flat edge such as a metal ruler across the bottom of it you should be able to tell. Thanks to svl7 for putting the heatsink contact pressure/area in my mind, led me to find the answer Hey there L33, I may need your help if you don't mind. I have a Sager/Clevo NP9370/370EM with 2 680m's and I'm having some similar temperatures.. How did you fix it exactly? If this helps me I will be extremely grateful for your help.. Thanks, Alex

I'm not sure what the 370EM heatsinks look like, but with the P150ME the 'contact' part of the heatsink is a copper plate with two heatpipes soldered to the top. The the bottom of the plate (the part that actually contacts the GPU core) should be completely flat but mine was concave - i.e. it was higher in the middle than it was at the corners of the plate, meaning that there was too much of a gap to the GPU core when the plate was screwed down. As it is copper it isn't too difficult to straighten out but I assume almost impossible to get 100% flat without specialist tools as there are screw tags on the bottom. I just used my hands and some force to adjust the shape, and the flat edge of a steel ruler to keep checking the surface from different angles - making sure that the flat edge was in constant contact across the entire plate with no gaps in the middle. Hope this helps, it is a little difficult to describe. If you could post a photo of your heatsink I could maybe offer a diagram?

Well my friend, I'm waiting for some new thermal paste in the mail so when I get some I will get to work on this and upload some pictures. Right now I only have the TIM that came with my XM CPU and I'm gonna give that a big hell-no I will keep you posted and I'm probably going to check all the heat-sinks cause my CPU temperatures could use an improvement and hopefully this may help. While we're on the subject what was the trick when adding aluminum tape to the fans? I'll take temperature improvements wherever I can Again, thanks very much for the info. These Clevo machines are known for small heat-sink and fan issues but I think with some slight modifications they are very worthy systems. Back-up the existing vbios and then do the nvlash -4 -5 -6 vbiosname.rom
Paul Kadoshnikov
Hey i was wondering which bios to use. I bought my laptop off cyberpower and under Nvidia inspector the bios numbers look like a clevo card, but the subvendor is MSI which bios should i use? ()(http://img.techpowerup.org/121214/nvidia_20121214_012730.png) Thanks. and from a person who occasionally games, do u reccomend this vbios flash to the OC version? I would like safe gpu temps. but yeah question is, do i use the MSI bios or the CLEVO.. and if clevo which bios revision?

All flashing details can be found here: http://forum.techinferno.com/general-notebook-discussions/2166-%5Bguide%5D-nvidia-vbios-flashing.html from a person who occasionally games, do u reccomend this vbios flash to the OC version? The best would probably be a modified version of your MSI vbios, which I haven't done yet. Will do so when I find time.

Let me see if I kept it. I flashed to the 80.04.67.10 vbios last night. Do you have any recommended click speeds to start with? Also what software so you use to monitor gpu temp while ingame. I noticed when I run fumark buin ins I get close to 92c at the highest yet when I run farcry 3 maxed out I barley get 81c. Or lower. Stock clocks. If I do find the old flash how can I send it to you? darkhawk
What overall, is the best VBios for my MSI GT70 680M? There's a few linked in the first post, but I noticed others talking about some other ones. What would you recommend?Next, will these require modified drivers in order to notice it? I'd really prefer one that doesn't need to be modified, simply because I've never done it, and I'll be honest, I'm kinda lazy.

During 3DMark I tested at 1058/2600 passing the bench (at 1V overvolting), but just for the benchmark. In game that crazy overclock crashes and obviously is not suggestible. Personally I found a good compromise at 915/2000 to avoid throttling at 89C after a while with Crysis2 and BF3 that are the games that actually stress much more the GPU and produce more overheating. Other games i can push further even over 1000/2400 that the temperature remains approximately at 80-85C . At stock frequences don't have any problem with any game, the GPU remains pretty cool (below 80C) , but obviously the purpose of these modded bioses is to squeeze all the juice out of it Depending even on the ambient temperature you're gonna burn faster or slower. So, you must tune up your overclocking freq. to stay always below 90C. About monitoring temperature you can use MSI Afterburner 2.3.0. Well, the problem is the 330W AC adapter is not enough power to push the CPU balls-to-the-wall while doing the same thing with the GPUs. Too much power draw. sirana
I just went ahead and flashed the .67 Clevo vbios on my Clevo x7200! It works flawlessly - although it seems not as good as the .33 did for me. Direct Comparison: (Note, in the .67 Vbios runs I turned HyperThreading on, it pushed my Physics Score a bit) NVIDIA GeForce GTX 680M video card benchmark result - Intel Core i7-980 Processor,CLEVO CO. X7200 score: P6971 3DMarks --> .67 Vbios, 915/2200 NVIDIA GeForce GTX 680M video card benchmark result - Intel Core i7-980 Processor,CLEVO CO. X7200 score: P7680 3DMarks --> .33 Vbios, 1006/2250 It seems, I lost ~400 GPU points at all clocks. I will revert to the .33 revised one Update: I don't know what's wrong, but even after reverting to the first "revised" .33 Vbios I get the same low scores again. I tried both the revised & revised 01 for correct clocks, but same thing. I even turned off HyperThreading again to see if the higher CPU score trades off GPU score, but nope :/ http://www.3dmark.com/3dm11/5256820 --> my good old .33 Vbios, 915/2200 that previously got 500 GPU points more... it should not be the Texture Filtering thing, as I have set it to high performance already.

30htz
So, what I am seeing here, is that by svl7 tweaking the VBIOS and removing the overclocking limit, Mr.Fox is practically doubling my SLi 680m's performance that is already pretty damn solid!?! That is seriously mental!I'd hate to jump in all noob like, but have you come to a safe limit yet Mr.Fox or do you think these can go much further?I'm new to having a nuclear powered laptop and trying to catch up with reading info, but looking at these results looks like this is going to be fun trying
