Acer e1-531 bios mod

Recommended Posts

Hello fellow technicians, I have acer e1-531 that after installing an i5 (from factory it comes with a celeron b960) started to shut down after 30 minutes, searching the internet I found that it would be necessary to make a modification in the bios to accept this processor, could someone help me with this case?

Hi!

Download and run CPU-Z utility, open "Mainboard" tab and check what the chipset version. If your chipset HM70, then it's mean you can use only Celeron and Pentium (not core i3, i5, i7).  It's limitation on hardware level (work only 30minutes). If your chipset HM76 or HM77, then you can use core i3, i5, i7 CPU's.

this chipset is the HM70, there is no possibility of working with this i5?

Yes, this chipset model can't work with core i3, i5, i7. Work only 30minutes. It's hardware limitation.
