Hello, got my hands on AW 18, and i wanted to ask how do i overclock this bad boy? Got 780m SLI and i´d rather ask someone with experience, then finding guide that would fuk me up on my own.
Also how hard is it to get the 980s SLI working properly if ull buy them?
Thanks !

Your post is several months old, so I don't know if you are still interested in upgrading to 980M's.

I have a 2013 AW 18, I7 4930, 32GB Dual Channel DDR3L, Dual GTX780M's in SLI.  I have been researching an upgrade to Dual GTX 980M's for a while now, and everything I read indicates that a successful upgrade is a 50/50 proposition.  For some it seems to work perfectly 'straight out of the box.'  For others, there are nothing but problems, from the secondary fan not working, to the cards not being recognized in the system BIOS, to smoked 980s.

If you are serious about upgrading to 980s, I would definitely leave the overclocking alone until after you get the 980s working.

There are a lot of prerequisites;

You have Win10 installed in pure UEFI mode (no Legacy enabled), and have to use (the newer) GPT partitions, not 'the long in the tooth' MBR (Master Boot Record)

The Dell AW 18 GTX980M (SLI) VBIOS also seems to be a requirement.  Search Dell Support Knowledge Base for: Alienware 18 GTX 980M VBIOS  From what I can tell, it's necessary to enable the secondary GPU fan in SLI, among other things.

I strongly recommend that you don't cheap out on the 980M's.  Eurocom is overpriced, but the upside is that they offer support for what they sell, up to and including installation and getting them to work, if you are willing to send your machine to them.  (Probably prohibitively expensive from czechia...)

It will not be cheap, and probably won't be easy, but if it works, I think it would be worth it.

Good luck!
