Hi Klem,

I know that there is a 5 beeps problem due to the changed file size of modded BIOS.

May I know if the guide below is a correct way to create a digital RSA signature?

What I know the procedure of removing whitelist:

Dump the BIOS from T440p => remove whitelist => sign the RSA again to the modded BIOS=> flash the modded BIOS to T440p=> Enjoy

Hi, could you please remove the whitelist so I can install any PCIe wireless card?

This ThinkPad T540p has SPI1 and SPI2 chips. I copied both of them just in case.

Hi!

As first step, you need to read your bios chip using hardware SPI programmer (read the first page of this thread) .

If you will meet with some problems with read bios dump from your bios chip, then try to use different software version.

All software versions for Ch341A programmer I placed into this link:  https://files.fm/u/33xntmcth

I recommend you use software AsProgrammer_1.4.1

hi all!

so I have a T440s with the latest locked bios which disabled the ability to downgrade. My intention was to write 2.36 which has no whitelist, allowing all wifi cards. So the "windows" way was not possible, and decided to buy a ch341a + the soic8

so.....I read the bios and saved it and wrote a new one. the button power flashes 3 times and that's it....no power. Flashed by backup and does the same thing.

any ideas?

Hi!

In your case, there can be only two reasons:

1. You flash wrong or corrupted bios file. Your backup bios file may have been read incorrectly, with errors, and therefore it may also be corrupted.

2. Write procedure proceeded with some errors.

thanks!

trying to find more and more dumps of T440s and trying them all.

Just started to use AsProgrammer as you recommend because this one seems to properly know the IC W25Q128FV

so I was able to write a dump from the internet but I think something is not working properly.

I get a really slow boot up time before the bios screen (remains just black) + my left USB stopped working. I wonder if I broke the USB while I was thinkering or it's a bad BIOS.

Here's my 1st dump save which is mine. Can someone please remove the wifi whitelist?

Quick question - The first post links to some SPI readers/programmers and all seem to be 5V logic.  Has anybody had the BIOS chip in a T440s pop because the chip is 3V3, but working on 5V?
Please advise,

Hi!

Don't worry, programmer CH341A correctly works with bios chip in T440s. Tested.

Hi!

Ok. As first step, just read the first post of this thread, and then create your file bios dump.

Hello, as the title states, I would be very happy if someone could give me the link to the mod, apart from that, what version should I install?, as I've seen that some models have v1 and v2.
My other questions are: what do I have to do to install a new GPU?, (9xx series)
And what mods do I have to use to have a 10x0 series (and which are compatible).
I have the Clevo P150SM(model)/P150SM-A(product code) (2 models on the sticker) with stock bios (it says copyright 2012, so I guess it's the 1st version) with a 4710MQ and 870M.

I would be very pleased if someone could hand me the link.
      Many thanks in advance.

      Hi,

So I've landed here to get some help with unlocking my old laptop. I must confess I've done few mods before, but it was on PCs, so was a piece of cake - adding Xeon to supported CPU models, or updating OROM to get a system boot from RAID SSDs. But now I'm trying do "the same" with laptop first time and this is a nightmare, mostly due to multiple BIOS vendors/methods, each of which requires own tools, some works with older revisions, some don't, some require 32-bits, some don't, and all YT examples being done using various configs = so in the end: a mayhem.

      My laptop config is:
      Lenovo B570e, i5-2520M, 10GB RAM
BIOS: 44CN43WW (latest, unmodified), SMBIOS 2.6
Phoenix/EFI SLIC Mod indicates it is an EFI/Insyde BIOS, but entering the BIOS I've got "Phoenix SecureCore Tiano" info
WLAN: original damaged, a replacement (by chip) doesn't allow laptop to start - Error 104 Unsupported wireless network device...

All I've found so far was:
      * Universal BIOS Backup Toolkit 2.0 - to make a BIOS dump file (succees)
      * UEFI Tool - to load dump file, search required module and extract it (success)
      * WinHex - to search an assembler code boundaries, and extract it (WinHex will not save edits = unregistered version), so semi-success
      * Hex Editor Neo - to disassembly code, and probably make changes (so far: in progress:))

And I've stopped at searching the JZ/JNZ mnemonics, probably this is because I've got wrong code boundary (from WinHex), which gives improper disassembled program in preview pane. What I'm looking for is a loop, which I try to obey - regarding to some "popular" links describing this method (unfortunately I can't follow these instructions 1:1 as some programs don't work as supposed and crash - like WinHex, yup, some don't work at all and I need to use different tool).
One more frustrating thing is I can't find proper tool for final stage - which is good (working) flasher. I can't remember how I've reflashed BIOS previously - must have been years ago - but now PhoenixUEFIWinFlash makes a BSOD (original, executable BIOS downloaded from Lenovo support website uses this program, which shows its GUI for a moment and makes BSOD), and "external", latest Phoenix UEFI WinFlash program doesn't want to work properly at setting up stage. Probably I will have to use phlash16 and FreeDOS, but will see at the end, when I have modded BIOS completed.

Any suggestions (or even better - some ready, modded file), please ?

Thanks in advance for any help, I appreciate any clue.
