@irokez Win (CMD) + Left not work for every game, so i use both methods Dual Monitor Tools and Win (CMD) + Left (when sometimes Dual Monitor Tools fails), based on the game i play!

About Ghost HDMI dummy adapter, its the same, but the price is high ;)

With Headless Ghost HDMI Dummy you can work with a 4K resolution, with the enjoy's resistor solution not, only 1080p.

I don't think that's true since the op has screenshots showing native resolution. Right?

the secondary monitor at 1080 is good enough for this solution right??

great suggestion btw

Yes you can, you can create it via NVIDIA Control panel, custom resolutions, its just progressive not native but who cares :) the performance will be the same with the 4k fake adapter or our VGA fake adapter ...

@enjoy Your case-mod looks great. Can you show inside your box how you were able to fit in the enclosed case the power cable into the graphic cards.

I got the 1060 SC and Akitio thunder 3, for my Mac 13 2016 with TB. Have everything ready except the Akitio Case coming next week.

1, I made by myself 90 degrees 6 pin i use one of my  Startech.com 6 inch PCI Express Power Splitter Cable to close the Akitio

2. I buy 6-pin to 6+2-pin PCI-E power cable (you can use 6pin to 6 pin but i cant find here in Bulgaria), cut him and put him in the Akitio original hole close to Akitio Barell plug

3. I remove the Akitio back panel (also help for the Air)

I will make picture inside when i clean the Akitio Case mod for the dust in future!

Hi, is there any other way to use the internal display of the MAC instead using the adapter with the resistors?

BTW thanks a lot for the tutorial.

No there is no way, Nvidia Optimus is not available for this model, but the fake display method work great!

For everyone who is interested:

Here is the deference between Thunderbolt™ 1,Thunderbolt™ 2 and Thunderbolt™ 3

In my case, my eGPU have TB1 (PCIe x4 2.0) so we have only 5% drop vs. TB2 and TB3, so no reason to update to TB2 or TB3 laptop and Akitio Node or Akitio TB3 :) I will have only 5-10% better performance from what i read or 5 FPS increase in games with other words!

Hi again, I have everything setup (even the resistors). My last step is the eGPU setup 1.2. I looked online but I couldn't find it... Since I think it is not possibile to put the link here, could you just tell me by PM please?

Thanks

Edit: I'm trying to make it working without installing eGPU setup 1.2, but the NVIDIA Control Panel keep saying I don't have an NVIDIA card attached to the display. Is because I don't have installed that software? Or it is another problem?

Hi!

What a great setup/build, I love it. I love to build such with my MacBook Pro (Retina, 15-inch, Mid 2015), 2.2 GHz Intel Core i7, 16 GB 1600 MHz DDR3, Intel Iris Pro 1536 MB. My primary reason for building is to accelerate the performance of rendering in my motion graphics applications (e.g. Adobe and Cinema 4D) not really for gaming. I already ordered the Akitio Thunder 2, planning to order the GTX 1060 GPU and other stuffs that it is needed. But read that the GTX 1060 draws about 300w and the Dell DA2 is 220w, is that enough to power the box and the GPU together? and can I still remove the VGA and hook external monitor via HDMI when like?

Please I would also like to know if you cut the height of the Male pin for the 90 degrees 6 pin you use from one of your Startech.com 6 inch PCI Express Power Splitter Cable for the Akitio to be able to close?
