Hi, I was wondering is this the only current voltage mod for the asus n55sf?

winflash says the original is bios is older and does't let me flash back, and insydeflash doesn't seem to work with asus.

Hi guys, I've read this thread carefully and figured i'd give it a shot. I flashed the bios using Sillvan's version of the aflash2 utility, as for me aswell, the other options didnt work. (latest version of aflash2 gave me an error asking me to update or something vague) So after flashing i checked GPU-Z but still saw the 0.9v there, as if nothing has changed. After i flashed the bios gpu shark: http://i.imgur.com/DxC5x.png I decided to flash back the Original 207 bios file taken from the asus website and gpu shark reads the same voltages http://i.imgur.com/4cIFh.png. Does this have anything to do with the revision of my graphics chip? Here's my main tab of gpuz http://gpuz.techpowerup.com/12/11/16/eqd.png also, the laptop model is N55SF-EH71

Possibly, can't remember whether there was more than one vbios in the bios...

Yes, Over-clocking or changing the voltage can damage your laptop.

can i request a mod for my asus notebook i dont like hijacking threads but im a new user i guess i cant open new threads i have an asus notebook which have cpu throttle problems at 85C i took a look at the bios with amibcp found nothing suspicious my bios settings for cpu throttle is set to 95C but somehow some software getting cpu speed control rights and throttle it at 85C throttlestop does nothing and there is no prochot# option at bios which enables software controlling of throttle states only thing im guessing its related with prochot# i found in bios is named PCHHOT# which set to 0 how can i make my controller ignore software throttle requests to get my cpu throttled at bios passive thermal trip point can you hlp me svl? can anyone help me my notebook is asus k56cb i5 3317u gt740m gddr3 2gb

Am i doing something wrong?

well, the bios still won't flash, the one you uploaded recently has the same modified date as the volt mod bios, so winflash still says that its an older version and doesn't let me flash back any ideas on how to "modify" the bios to change its date so I can flash it? can you possible change some strings in it then change them back to normal so I can flash it? In the mean time I have been trying a whole bunch of different flash tools and none of them have worked.

Is it flashable from within windows? And also how do you stress test if your GPU is stable at different clocks? Sorry i'm kind of a noob at OC'ing the GPU.

I thoroughly analyse the bios and surprisingly find out that there are two vbios in it, which is for gt555m and gt540m.

svl7 moded the wrong one, which for gt540m. As a result, the voltage level of gt555m has not been touched.

Moreover, the gt555m in ASUS N55SF has reached its highest voltage in default-for its highest clock rate.

There is no higher voltage level ever.

So the fact is we cannot do anything with the voltage.

has anyone ever noticed problems such as the computer shutting down itself?

i did not do the overvoltage i just underclocked a bit the cpu (and now the pc works fine without becoming a oven after 5 minutes) it gives me temp of 45-56° which are ok for windows use (i set the cpu multiplier to 15)

But now the strangest thing happens, if i try to do the test of windows index level, when it makes tests with the gpu, the computer just shuts down for like 2 seconds and then it reboots. Quite dangerous for my external hard drives connected too!

But most importantly i tried to load skyrim and durng the intro it did shut down again!

I now ordered compressed air and thermalpaste and will open the computer and clean it, but i fear it may not be enough!

Is there a way to control the speed of the gpu and be sure it doesn't go into extreme values?!?!

Also, how can i access the bios of my pc and see what version i have? when i turn the computer on, i only see the asus screen and then windows loads, doesn't mention a key to press to enter bios...

Good afternoon, I am interested in applying the mod to my Asus N55SF notebook, but after looking up my VGA (GF555m) it seems that my VGA is an older model of the 555 series it's an earlier Jan 6 2011 Edition compared to the June edition you have tested it on. Do you think the mod will work on the older edition of the VGA? Thanks in advance.

@svl7 hey man I have n550jk and I have tried to modify the core clock then tried to flash with afuwingui but after restart nothing happen .. all the default clocks still remains

EDIT: The flush utility didn't work so i went to bios to flush it, it said older version can't update something like that? Please help i'm using windows 10.

Hello, found this site on google on search to resolve my problem. and i think i am close...

So i have Asus N75SF then mbo died and got N75SL from the seller, now my GT555M is seen as GT635M which is basicaly the same gpu GF116 but it keeps crashing and i think it has to do with lower volts on the GT635M profile, gpuz reports highest voltage to be 0.9V so i downclock the gpu so it doesnt crash from default 675mhz on the core to 425mhz already its getting lower every few months (hope its not dying). So as you wrote vbios is part of the main mbo bios and it cant be dumped via gpuz i wanted to ask for help on editing the N75SL bios or just to give me directions i have some experience with bios modding...

Here's a similar mod for N55SF users. The modified VBIOS will increase the voltage of the GPU by about 0.1V which will allow you further overclock your GPU core. (Note: The graphics memory isn't affected by this mod, you won't be able to clock it higher than before)

Instructions:

Since the VBIOS is part of the system BIOS you need to flash the whole BIOS in order to make use of the mod.

Flash the file with your preferred BIOS flashing utility, e.g. with the one provided by Asus (click here).

- Only flash with the battery and AC adapter plugged in to your system

After flashing I highly recommend to go to the BIOS menu and load the default settings. Then reboot and if you want reset your custom settings.

Verify the increased GPU voltage by using GPU-Z or a similar GPU monitoring tool. Note: Only the voltage of the 3d performance profile gets increased, in order to see it your GPU needs to clock up to 3d clocks.

Also make sure your system is free of dust and check your temps when you first use this BIOS, the voltage increase will also slightly increase the GPU load temps, but it should be well in the thermal envelope of the system.
