    Projector for PC Gaming Display

Hello everyone! So on occasion I host gaming nights over at my house, and usually end up hooking my laptop up to a big TV so me and a couple friends can all play all kinds of multiplayer games (either emulated or off of steam). But I was recently thinking that it would be fun to get a projector set up, so that we could play on a huge blank wall in my living room. With that being said: I'm new to purchasing projectors, so I'm not familiar with what kinds of features/specifications I should be looking for (and I'd like to keep the cost down if it's possible). So I was wondering if anyone has any advice for me on what to look for in features/specifications, affordable places to buy from, or just general info on what I'm trying to do. Any help would be super appreciated!
  2. Hi all, Wanted to chime in and thank everyone here for all their help. I have been using an EXP GDC Beast with my R9 290 and Lenovo W520 without any issues. One small hiccup I've been encountering is that the cable from expressscard adapter to the Beast is far too short. So I got a 6ft HDMI extension cable to try and lengthen this. The computer is able to boot up and I can get to about the welcome screen (eGPU is working for just a bit), and then I lock out and blue screen and it resets. My guess is the signal is degrading in quality just enough in 6ft that the laptop can't receive enough signals and treats it like hot-unplugging the graphics card (immediate death). I've done a few searches here, but no one has really provided many sound answers or potential solutions. Does anyone have any experience on this topic? Surely people must be experiencing the issue of this cable not being long enough. I'm thinking of getting a 1.5ft and 3ft length cable and testing it out to see which one may work and provide stable results.
  3. So I have a 3 year old Lenovo Thinkpad Yoga S1 that I travel with and I'm thinking of modding it a bit to take a GDC EXP Beast, my idea is to take out one of speakers and attach a female to female HDMI adapter in it's spot. From there i would use th emPCIe connector, coil it's cable up and connect it to one side of the adapter, seal the laptop up, then all I'd need to plug in the eGPU with a normal HDMI cable. Is this something that could work?

    [HDMI Problems] P650RE6 Signal loss

Hello Guys, So my problem is very simple. And I'm here asking if this happened to another users and if they found the solution to this problem. I have an external monitor, new (and was tested with another computer to rule out the possibility of being a monitor problem), that is connected to my P650RE6 (the one with a gtx 970m). I have also changed the HDMI cable to try out. So, randomly I have some loss of the signal that is being transmitted via HDMI to the External Monitor. This happens randomly, and when I am using the computer normaly, like browsing, seeing some youtube's videos, etc. No problem occurs when I am using the full performance of the laptop, like playing games, and no problem occurs when I am on battery either. Also, when the laptop is being used normally and the battery is also charging, I have no problem. So could something like this happened to another user? On my retail store they say that they know that this problem exists with P600 series, but neither them or Clevo know why is happening. What can I do? Could a miniDisplayPort adapter to HDMI fix this (in that case I am using another port)? Thanks everyone
  5. Okay guys got a real tech question for ya! Will this device ( http://www.amazon.co.uk/E-SDS-Extender-Converter-Transmitter-Receiver/dp/B017D1V1WO/ref=sr_1_17?ie=UTF8&qid=1454156125&sr=8-17&keywords=hdmi+transmitter ) transmit from HDMI transmitter to Wi-Fi extender RJ45 Receiver to Wi-Fi RJ45 transmitter (In another room) to HDMI Receiver and still get perfect 1080p quality with very little loss? Really good question, don't ya think? It's cheaper than the Fibre optic route but also no (HDMI + Audio) cables to the TV.. Thanks Spot...
  6. Sup everybody A few months back, I bought an Alienware GTX 780m to replace my ASUS GTX 460m that was in my ASUS G53JW laptop. I had zero knowledge or experience, but thanks to all the guides you wrote, the card immediately worked after flashing an ASUS GTX 780m vbios onto it. The fans were controlled, and my graphics performed many times better than it did before. The only issue was that HDMI stopped working. At the time, I didn't need HDMI, but now I do. Can you help me out?
  7. So it's a well-known fact that the EXP GDC (all versions), PE4C (v2.1), PE4H (v2.4) and PE4L (v1.5) use some kind of socketted connection to connect itself to the laptop's mPCIe or EC slot. This socketted connection usually comes in the form of a physical HDMI or mini-HDMI port, which are notorious for being loose, non-locking connectors. As to why the manufacturers decided to use HDMI/mHDMI, it boggles my mind. They could have used literally any other connector. The physical HDMI connection between the eGPU adapter and the laptop can get very loose, and thus causing signalling issues between the graphics card and the computer. Usually this isn't much of a problem, since it's a digital signal, so it's not like your pixels will look mangled up or whatever. However, sometimes it causes the signal to intermittently drop out, causing the graphics card to disconnect from the PC, making the graphics card driver crash. Usually this just ends up in the 3D game freezing momentarily and then coming back with a perpetual black screen, forcing you to restart the game, disabling/re-enabling the card in Device Manager, and re-applying your overclock/underclock settings (if any). Sometimes it causes the PC to crash outright with a BSoD. I thought putting some constant downward force (ie, perpendicular to the plane of the PCB) on the HDMI cable would solve this, but that doesn't seem to work. EDIT: Googling "loose hdmi port" doesn't yield any useful results because of audiophools and console peasants lowering the signal-to-noise ratio Has anyone figured out any other hacks/solutions to get around this?

    Clevo HDMI Not Working

My Sager NP9752-S / Clevo P750ZM will not recognize external monitor on HDMI port (I know monitor and cable work as I can use from a different laptop). Additionally, cannot enter the BIOS after having replaced the original Nvidia Quadro K1100M GPU with a Quadro K5100M. If I put in the original K1100M I can access the BIOS. But when I put in the K5100M it shoots straight into Windows. Someone mentioned previously something about UEFI. I am running Windows 7. How do I know if I have UEFI? So 2 issues: 1) Do I need to enable the HDMI port in the BIOS? 2) Why can't I access the BIOS any more?

    HDMI problem w230st

Hi, I have the prema mod bios (w230st 1.1) installed for a long time, but since 2 weeks ago the hdmi output doesn´t work. With my normal monitor it works but it doesn´t work with the tv. When I start the pc with my monitor it works without problems in windows, bios, etc. but with the TV it´s impossible. I’ve tried everything, a new hdmi cable, other hdmi port in the TV... It´s says panasonic TV and i can change the 50/60Hz , resolution but no way. I´ve reinstalled windows 8 and linux. The only thing I can do is reinstalling the prema bios, can I do that? It´s not an update, it´s the same bios so I don´t know if y can do that.
