  1. Hey everyone, just a question would anybody know where/how I could get a modded bios for a G75VW so I can get a 670MX to work in it? Any help would be appreciated!
  2. Asus G75VW - modified BIOS / VBIOS Here's a modified BIOS for the Asus G75VW. It enables some more options and settings in the BIOS setup. It also contains a tweaked VBIOS for the 660m. Detailed version information: mod02 'GHZ edition' - 660m 3d clocks at 1000MHz core - 670m @ 715/1650 (only in 'overclock edition') additional BIOS menus Pics of the most interesting BIOS settings (thanks @bobby7): Instructions: Download the BIOS you want to flash, as well as the flash tool (Win64). Put the modified BIOS (and included files) in the same folder as the flash tool . Make sure that your current BIOS version is the same as the one you want to flash. Then create a backup of your BIOS by executing the backup.bat file. . Download the 'G75VW-BiosFixer.zip, put it in the same folder as the flash too and run it. Follow the instructions on the screen, it will ask you for the BIOS backup you just created, as well as the modified BIOS file which you already downloaded. . If the tool doesn't come up with an error message, go ahead and flash the created file by executing the included flash.bat file. . Wait until the flashing is done, in case everything's okay you can reboot. NOTE: It's a good idea to go to load the default BIOS settings after flashing. Also I really recommend flashing the official version before applying the modified BIOS, as mentioned in the instructions. >>> Here's my donation link, if you like my mods feel free to buy me a beer <<< As always with such mods, use at your own risk. The program I provide here (BiosFixer) comes with absolutely no warranty to the extent permitted by applicable law. *** Asus G75VW - BIOS v223 - [unlocked] [overclock edition].zip G75VW-BiosFixer.zip Asus G75VW - BIOS v223 - [unlocked].zip
  3. Would it be remotely possible to put a newer graphics card in a G75VW?
  4. So basically my friend starts texting me one night asking if I wanted a broken laptop. Of course I say yes because I love the challenge of trying to fix broken tech. What he gave me was a G75VW, at first I was like wtf. My friend just handed me a gaming laptop. Not to mention this was in school so imagine having to shove one of those large things in your backpack. So I asked him where he got it and why was he giving it to me. It turns out my friends brother found it while he was dumpster diving and he was just going to take the screen and chuck the rest, but he never got around to it and was trying to throw it away when my friend saw it. So when I got it he told me it crashes when trying to turn on and that he couldn't get it to work. When I got it I had thought it had nothing in it expect the Mobo, it was also missing the back panels and the hard drives. But to my surprise whoever scrapped this thing didn't go under the keyboard because 8gb of ram and the cpu/gpu were still there. So I only had to buy a hard drive, ssd, and a power supply. So about 118$ in total. And most games I play run on it great. Mostly Rainbow Six Siege which runs on medium at 60fps great. And thats how I got a G75VW for almost free thanks for reading.
  5. so my old G75VW is needing some upgrades, i have a bunch of options: Motherboard swap using a G75VX motherboard with thunderbolt to get a thunderbolt port + akitio thunder2 Using some mad casemodding skills to fit a GTX880M + heatsink(from a G750), vbios mod(some help needed) Exp gdc maybe with a GTX 1070 or 1060 Sell it and buy a clevo or alienware
  6. To anyone who is having trouble installing everything I found this website with a lot of info about g75vw and linux compatability Asus G75VW [Linux Laptop Wiki] Hope it helps and lets see if anyone has any extra info bout the drivers, hotkeys and everything else [EDIT] Could a Mod or Admin move this thread to Asus Gaming Notebook Forum?

  8. Hi again guys, I just found out that you can change the stock cd drive to a blu ray drive on the Asus g75vw, and maybe others (depending on the size of your drive). But here is the link to the drive that I found compatible, I will order it sometime soon and post a full review and how-to later on.... G75VW BBK5 or 3D?

Hi there, I am currently looking at both models of the G75VW... the specs for both are almost the same, but one has 3D and the other doesn't, and the 3D version has the nvidia 670m with 3GB and the 660m has 2GB. My question is, is this difference that big for 500 extra dolars? Is the 670m actually that better with 3Gb than the 660m with to 2GB? PD: I'm very new to this and any technical errors should be ignored! [EDIT] Could a Mod or Admin move this thread to Asus Gaming Notebook Forum?
