      Introducing T|I Marketplace/Classifieds!   11/24/16

After a long wait, Tech|Inferno now has a Marketplace/Classifieds section where all registered (promoted and above) members can participate in selling, trading and seeking out items. This service is free to all members to use as they wish. Currently all ads last for a period of 14 days before they expire for promoted users. Those users belonging to T|I Elite, Contributor, Developer and Moderator have access to 30 day ad periods that are featured   Some easy rules to remember: Do not post multiple ads of the same product. Do not advertise here if you are a retailer or business. You must contact Tech|Inferno for advertising space. Keep ads civil, do not try to lowball members. You may contact them in private via PM if you feel their price is not to your liking. Harassing members will result in an infraction. It is recommended you have Heatware/eBay feedback to establish trading credibility.    Tech|Inferno assumes no liability for any sales posted in the Classified section. Always use common sense when buying/selling with traders and ask for their heatware/ebay feedback!   Enjoy!

  5. These days a lot of the rage is in thin and light notebooks and while that is fine for a lot of people, there is a substantial number of performance enthusiasts (especially found on this website) that want the exact opposite. This group of enthusiast demands the pinnacle of performance built right into the notebook and not a thin and light compromise saddled with an Intel BGA processor and soldered GPU. Well Clevo and Eurocom are listening and Eurocom let us know that they have launched the new Sky DLX7 notebook that is aimed squarely at those aforementioned enthusiasts. But you don't have to be a gamer to want this DTR (desktop replacement) because it will offer the same amount of productivity as any formidable desktop, especially with it's 17.3" display with 4k resolution and 64 GB of DDR4 RAM. It can also support up to 4 active displays thanks to its two mini Display Ports, USB 3.1 and HDMI 2. The Sky DLX7 uses Intel's latest Z170 chipset with socket LGA 1151 which allows it to support the latest 14nm Skylake desktop processors up to the Core i7-6700K that operates at 4 GHz and has a turbo boost of 4.2 GHz. In addition, the CPU can be further overclocked for true high end desktop level performance. For those that like to keep upgrading their notebooks, the Sky DLX7 supports MXM 3.0b graphics cards such as the NVIDIA GTX 980 desktop (full desktop level card in an MXM package) and professional Quadro mobile cards. Unlike many competing notebooks, this DTR won't have trouble keeping itself cool as it features high capacity copper heatsinks and fans to keep things chilled. There doesn't appear to be a shortage of space either as it can support two 9.5 mm HDD or SSD bays and two M.2 SSD PCIe x 4 SATA drives with RAID 0/1/5/10 availability. There's no word on final pricing but given all the power this thing packs, it probably can get pricey very quickly. 7. ORIGINAL AUTHOR: Mr. Fox What better place for a laptop with desktop hardware than a desktop hardware thread? This was intentionally not placed in a notebook OEM thread. The CPU and GPU are both desktop core awesomeness. @Prema and I will be putting together a full review in the next week or so and this will be a thread for discussion. Opening post is a placeholder. 9. I wondered if anyone else had come across this problem with a laptop other than a NP9377 I have posted there but that's limited to NP9377 owners Laptop in sig Flashed v1 Prema BIOS a while to help with throttling. I live in New York. It's crazy hot here I was getting random BSODs with the std BIOS so that's why I upgraded it Then started getting them again. Have a Coolermaster U3 so temps were fine Prema came out with v2 so flashed that. Followed instructions Now laptop won't stay on for more than 15 seconds It even shuts down when in the BIOS It sometimes gets to Windows and takes 5 seconds to shut down again Shutdown - screen goes off and keyboard lights go and fans stop Tried: - Clearing CMOS (overnight disconnection, power drain for 30s using power button, AC only) - Both sticks of RAM (which doesn't say RAM has not got both dodgy module) I also cannot get back into flash as it shuts down even when in DOS Anyone had this before? I have a support ticket in with Eurocom where I am expecting them to charge me to sort the BIOS flash if that's the problem Thanks in advance (Please move if I have posted in the wrong forum)
  10. Special thanks: To Eurocom for providing a discounted price to Tech|Inferno. REVIEW IS OUT: nVidia GTX 680M Performance Review | Tech|Inferno We've managed to snag a 680M from Eurocom and will be testing it in an AW M18x-R1 with 2920xm. The video card will hopefully be here this coming week or two. Eventually we'll purchase another for a full SLi review but for now, we'll be doing a 580M SLi vs 680M (single) comparison. Since the Kepler GPU has a huge gaming advantage over the 580M chip, it should be a pretty interesting match-up and something to think about for M18x-R1 users that are looking to upgrade. So what we need from you, the community is feedback on which games and applications you'd like to see tested (sorry svl7, no furmark ). Here is sample of my current games 1. BF3 2. Crysis 2 3. Mafia II 4. Mass Effect 2/3 5. Skyrim 6. Max Payne 3 7. LA Noire 8. Saints Row 3 9. Just Cause 2 10. COD: MW3 11. Darkness II 12. Serious Sam 3 13. Batman Arkham Asylum & City Application list 1. 3DMark Vantage 2. 3DMark 11 3. Sony Vegas GPU render test 4. Unigine Heaven DX11 Not all the games listed above will be tested due to time constraints. Please pick your favorite app/game and reply to this thread. Thanks. Alright poll is closed, the winners are: 1. BF3 2. Skyrim 3. Crysis 2 4. Batman Arkham City 5. Metro2033 (not in the poll but will be tested). In addition I'll be testing the obligatory synthetics such as Vantage + 3DMark 11. If I have time I'll do a cuda render test but that's not important right now. Oh and a few teaser pics for you guys below.
