  1. Hi Guys, Im looking to possibly get a new laptop, but was wondering what laptops you guys would suggest for gaming and that doesn't have hardware whitelisting so I can update my wifi card and other hardware in the future. I heard that Asus doesn't lock down there hardware with a white list. My current laptop, Lenovo Y500 Ideapad, has a white list and im not able to swap out the wifi card because of it. Let me know what you guys think.

  7. Asus GL702VI BIOS Unlock for XMP access?

Hi, I just got a new GL702VI-WB74 and I was hoping someone might be able to help me unlock the BIOS so I can access XMP profiles and maybe tweak my turbo settings a bit. The laptop seems to have a considerable amount of potential power increase but has hard limits on everything. Thanks in advance
  8. Hey guys,i am enhancing my asus K53SV ( i7 2630qm) with an eGPU GTX 1060 and im planning to buy a better CPU to reduce the CPU bottleneck on the 1060. At the moment, i have a 130W power supply ( 90W stock). I bought a Destkop CPU Cooler ( Cooler Master Hyper T2) to handle the CPU temps and im wondering if a 2960XM would overclock to lets say at least 3.5GHz on 4 cores stable for gaming. I know the stock BIOS wont allow the 2960XM to work but i will update the CPU Microcode to make it accept the 2960XM. So here are the questions :1- Does the CPU microcode manual update work ?2 - Can the motherboard, designed for a 45W CPU without overclocking handle 55W+ (lets say 80-90W for the overclocking) ?3- is a minimum of 3.5GHz on 4 cores stable possible with the 130W PSU, lets say that the motherboard only has to power up the CPu and the others main components (HDD, RAMs, etc), there is no dedicated GPU, so it has way more juice for the CPU alone.
  9. I would like a custom vbios in order to overclock more than 135mhz my gpu. My pc is a Rog strix gl502vt with a gtx 970m 3gb. Here's the bios i currently have installed. Thanks for the support GM204.rom
  10. Hello everyone, Sorry to just drop in like this (being new and all), but I really need some help. Usually I try to do with what I can find online, but this time I'm pretty much stuck in mud, unable to move. So my problem is this. I have an Asus UX303UB Zenbook series computer with two GPUs. One being an integrated Intel 520 and the other one is a discrete Nvidia 940m. Im happy with what the computer ofers, but the Nvidia GPU gets so damn hot under load and its capped at 80 degrees which makes for some nasty BSODs and general driver crashes. I tried using using MSI Afterburner to underclock the Nvidia but it doesnt do much. In any case I would like to permanently underclock it to reduce the thermal stress. So far I have tried NVFlash, both the regular one and the one with the certificate bypasses, to get info about the GPU BIOS, save it, and then flash it. This didn't work. I constantly get errors that the GPU is not configured and or not accessible. On some forum I someone wrote that in this case you should delete the GPU drivers and then try. Still didnt work. After that I found some more info suggesting that the vBIOS is probably a part of the main system BIOS and that I need to extract it somehow. Easier said than done. First I tried to use FPT tool to read the system BIOS, which worked without any problems. However, after thinking about it, it didn't make much sense in reading it since the BIOS file is available on the Asus website (latest version: UX303UB-AS.206). In any case I had the file and it's the American Megatrends BIOS, AMI. So to actually extract the vBIOS I needed to use MMTool. I tried with both MMTool 4.5 and 5.0 (honestly, I had no idea which one I was supposed to use, still don't). Here is where it gets weird(er). After opening the BIOS file with MMTool, nothing happes, or should I say, nothing can be found about the vBIOS. In version 4.5 ticking the Link present checkbox produces no links at all so I tried manually reading every entry I had seen in the list (with both the Extract As is and Extract UnCompressed from the Extract FFS options) with a hex editor. Still nothing. Tried version 5.0 which doesnt even give me the Link present option (it's grayed out). Tried the extraction option with version 5.0 (a real pain in the butt, since there are more than twice items on the list it seems) and in some extracted files I found Nvidia entries but nothing seemd like a BIOS description. Still, I tried to open those with the MaxvellBiosTweaker Tool 1.36 (assuming I found the correct information that my card is from the Maxwell lineup) but the files were not recognized. The interesting part is that in both tools not even the Intel GPU is listed (and I assumed it should be). So in the end, I came here looking for help and hope you will be willing and able to do so. I'm 90% sure that this is all my mistake and that I am probably not using the tools as intened or that I am using the wrong versions. In any help, any advice will be appreciated. TLDR - hope to flash vBIOS on UX303UB with Nvidia 940M - tried NVFlash tool, didn't work (with and without removing GPU drivers) - tried NVFlash with certificate bypass, didn't work (with and without removing GPU drivers) - used FPT tool to extract system BIOS and used vendor image as well, worked - used MMTool 4.5 to extract vBIOS, link not listing, didn't work - used MMTool 4.5 to extract vBIOS manually, not showing up, didn't work - used MMTool 5.0 to extract vBIOS, link not listing, didn't work - used MMTool 5.0 to extract vBIOS manually, some entries show up, dont look like vBIOS, didn't work - tried with MaxwellBiosTweaker 1.36 just to make sure, didn't work Thanks in advance. With respect.

  14. Hi, First time on this website and I thought this could be where I can find some help. I've bought an ASUS transformer Pro 3 with the following specs: CPU: i5 6200U (2.3 GHz turbo up to 2.8 GHz) RAM: 8 GB SSD: 512 GB Price: $880 CAD (Got lucky on Amazon.. really lucky) I have not heard any news about the ASUS ROG XG Station 2 being released anytime in Canada yet so I've started to look elsewhere. The Akitio Node 3 seems ideal for me ($350+tax (free shipping)) since it could fit full sized desktop graphics cards in there. Question is, which one should I get? I was thinking GTX 980ti since I know I could get one for $450 but not sure which type or if there are better alternative. I've heard I should look at the Zotac 10-series mini graphics cards but with these (and the potentially the 980ti), I don't want the system to bottle neck. The i5 might not be powerful enough to draw the GPU's fullest potential. I've already heard there were potential fan issues on the Transformer Pro 3 so if that's the case with my model (I hope not), I don't want it to end up overheating. Please let me know which graphics card I should go for. Thanks, T
  15. Hi I'm wondering if it would be possible if i tore out the wifi adapter out of the zenbook flip and then get mpcie to pcie riser and do an egpu setup with a 960. Would this work well? I currently own the psu and gpu. I'm just wondering if it's feasible. Also if there is a better recommendation for a 500-600 ultra book I'm open. I will be taking this for school work and then I come home plug it in do some casual gaming.
  16. Hello I was Wondering If I Had A LCD Ribbon Cable Problem Or An Issue With Just The LCD Its Self
  17. Hello people, i have Asus laptop(N550JK) with those specs: windows 10 64b intel Core i7 4700hq 16gb ram intel HD Graphics 4600 Nvidia 850m dGPU Asus GTX 1060 6gb eGPU + 600w desctop pwr supply. connection vie mPCIE 2 slot instead wireless card. i've some troubles with error 43, but didnt found any other solution but running on 372.70 v driver. also tryed this https://www.techinferno.com/index.php?/forums/topic/2750-guide-dsdt-override-simultaneous-igpu-dgpu-egpu/ tutorial but stack on dsdt-modified.aml errors, could not solve them so i didnt continued the gude. as well enabled the hot plug to the PCIE ports but it didnt make any difference. The 850m is off in device manager, the PCIE power setting is on full power and in Nvidia control panel default gpu is set to 1060. i do also have some problems with discrete graphics card. it can't work from battery at all, or on any Nvidia power mode beside max performace. it crashes with drivers restart error. and works only with power plugged and max perf nvidia power mode. this problem was "from the box". the main reason for that may be the problem with power delivery in dgpu either in other part on main board (pure hardware thing). but this is not the problem to solve (have tryed) but just to let know if it can cause the problems with egpu. the main problem is stability, the 372.70 v driver is ok i can go with it, but when i pull just any load on the card(internet browsing) it starts to frezes a little, just like loading something, it happens all the time and frezes for about 1 second. i've tryed to start Watch Dos 2 but it crashes while loading the world. Star Wars Balttlefront is loads but im getting abot 30 fps on the settings that geforce experience provides and it was almost playable picture, everything was perfect exept the frezes and fps. It looks like it constantly switching something i have found that the fps is rapidly rising from 10 to about 25-45 then instantaneously drops to 10 and so repeats. So what can it be to cause such instability?

He got a 1080 hybrid last week, and since i paid for it at Fry's, im putting it for sale. This card was used for maybe at max for a month and a half, since hes working most of the time. Never overclocked, so im not sure how good of a clocker this card will be. Comes with everything that comes inside the box, the World of Tanks/ Warships thing was never used, neither was the Xsplit license requested. Only thing missing are 2 of the DP port covers. Ill try looking for them, but i doubt those tiny fuckers will turn up. Will come with the Frys Electronics receipt, and this has not been registered on the ASUS website yet, so you are free to do so. Also we did not get any game codes with it.

  21. Sup everybody A few months back, I bought an Alienware GTX 780m to replace my ASUS GTX 460m that was in my ASUS G53JW laptop. I had zero knowledge or experience, but thanks to all the guides you wrote, the card immediately worked after flashing an ASUS GTX 780m vbios onto it. The fans were controlled, and my graphics performed many times better than it did before. The only issue was that HDMI stopped working. At the time, I didn't need HDMI, but now I do. Can you help me out?
  22. Can I use the akitio thunder 2 and 1050 ti card? Anybody have tried this project? I do not need to buy a PSU.I'm glad if someone who tried it shares their experiences. CPU:4570R EXTERNAL GPU = NO (available İris Pro 5200)
  23. Hello, my laptop motherboard chip is suddenly burned, is there any possibilities to fix or replace the component? The picture is just for example. thanks
  24. Hello! I have an Asus N76VB (i7-3630QM, HD4000+GT740M, 16GB DDR3, Windows 10 x64) and an EXP GDC v8.3E adapter. I have recently purchased a 4GB Sapphire Nitro+ OC RX 480 and cannot get it to work properly. I got the adapter about two moths ago and tested it with my friend's 2GB MSI GTX 760. Everything ran perfectly. All I had to do was plug it in, uninstall my nvidia driver and install the desktop version. I didn't test it for long, just one or two games, but it worked as expected. I then borrowed a 4GB Palit GTX 760 and tested it for a couple of days. The setup was exactly the same, except I also disabled the Intel and Nvidia gpus from device manager. it worked flawlessly for extended periods of time (4+ hours). I tested Heaven as well with the same clocks and settings I saw in an online result and it was only ~10% slower. The internal display worked on both cards, but the performance was much worse with it enabled, so I only used one external display. Black Friday came, and while I had originally intended to buy a 3GB 1060, I found an RX 480 that had a very good price. I remembered seeing some videos on YT with working RX 480s via the same adapter I have, and even one comment that mentioned it works on the 15 inch version of my laptop (Asus N56), so I thought it was a no-brainer. I picked it up yesterday, plugged it in, uninstalled the nvidia drivers, installed the AMD drivers and... bsod. The driver seemed to crash anywhere from 10s to 2min after logging in. The error was VIDEO_TDR_FAILURE. I looked it up online and concluded that it can mean almost anything. I reinstalled my OS today, Windows 10 x64, same as before, and thought I'd give it another try. The same issue popped up, although I did manage to run a windowed Heaven benchmark. Launching it full screen causes an immediate freeze/crash. Artifacts appear on the screen (green squares, lines, etc.) and soon after my display loses input, so I believe the GPU stops working. Even stranger, after setting TdrDelay to 16s (found this workaround online), I don't get a bsod anymore. Whenever the crash happens, both displays remain black. This only works if I disable both the Intel and Nvidia gpus from device manager. If the Intel gpu is enabled, almost anything will crash it, including the Windows display settings. It sometimes crashed during login (both displays stay black). I confirmed this by looking at the Event Viewer and seeing that LogonUI.exe crashed; the faulting module was atidxx64.dll. Just to be safe, I tested the gpu and the psu in a PC and it works: I uninstalled the nvidia drivers, installed the AMD drivers and everything ran perfectly. I have done everything I could think of, so any and all help is greatly appreciated. In the meantime, I will probably give it to my brother and use his 760. Edit: I also gave Windows 8.1 a try since I saw some people mention that the tdr error might only occur on Windows 10. It made no difference whatsoever.
  25. I bought this thingy-mabob so I can try an egpu build. It's an Sonnet Echo Pro Adapter. what it does is it able to connect to expresscard devices over thunderbolt. I bought the Pe4c (which is the thing to put your gpu at) and I put in an old gt 640 (yes it works). I crossed my fingers AND I prayed but all this shit does is make the fans spin at like 1000rpm (I got a nice little personal fan now). I tried updating BIOS and disabling dGPU I even fresh installed my computer (goodbye porn ) Anyway, I wanted to do this because in the long run, it would have saved me money instead of buying a new computer. All I would have needed to do was buy a new gpu and BAM! 4K gaming. But if anyone wanna help my sorry ass, please do so. I wanna play BF1 but 4 year old gpu is crap. Please anyone with knowledge of this subject or maybe even the legendary Nando4 can help. Thanks.
