  1. First post. Hope this helps some of you. Now to change your power plan to ULTIMATE Performance. Just toss this in Powershell or Command prompt as ADMIN, powercfg -duplicatescheme e9a42b02-d5df-448d-aa00-03f14749eb61 Then Check out your Power plan settings. Wifi power settings are great for performance.

  3. Hi, as of Christmas time i tried my setup 550W PC PSU but will switch for this one once finish testing (220W Switching PSU) Barrel plug EVGA GTX 1060 6GB SC card (fits without bending the box), using 3GB OC version as well with no problems 2015 13" Macbook Pro (model MacBookPro12,1) Akitio Thunder 2 box So far using the internal screen (projector Epson EH-TW5100 for testing purposes) Ext. monitor Dell 27" S2716DG Samsung T1 500GB Win10 (v.1511) Installed WIN 10 to USB drive first using https://bleeptobleep.blogspot.cz/2013/02/mac-install-windows-7-or-8-on-external.html Had a problem to update to newest version of WIN10 over the windows update(some uEFI hw issues), but it went smoothly once i run this WIN 10 disk as a virtual over VirtualBoxVM http://www.sysprobs.com/mac-os-x-host-boot-virtual-machine-from-usb-in-virtualbox For powering the box i just removed one connector from PSU(pics bellow) and used RED-yellow/Black cable without soldering to connect the barrel plug For the GPU i used the 6pin connector from PSU To install: - Power on the Box - Boot to WIN 10 - Hot plug the Thundebolt cable and check the Device manager for new card something like "Basic Display Adapter" - Then install the Geforce driver (in my case the version 376.33) as administrator. Even 378.49 works fine - Then follow the instruction and reboot (don't unplug the cables). Rebooting without ext.monitor plugged in. - It should boot again in WIN10 (select win 10 during the boot). It requires a bit patience here during spinning wheel. I made a ham&eggs meanwhile (approx. 10-15minutes). I don't have to select the system after chime because my system starts automaticly when USB with Win10 is plugged in EGPU is working until the next reboot of Win10 in that case i need to reinstall the drivers (but it's worth those 8 minutes ) - Remove the old drivers by DDU tool (Display driver uninstaller) http://www.guru3d.com/files-details/display-driver-uninstaller-download.html - Install the driver again as described above and it should work again Remarks: I was running fine even on build 1607 of Win10 but after some microsoft update it stopped working. So i reverted back to build 1511 again (see below what i have installed from Microsoft) I found out that i don't really need to reinstall the drivers again. Just doing this: - turn off the Mac, - plug in the th2 - then turn the Mac on and just after chime turn on the egpu (It will not boot with the win for first time, but the win it self boots) - Then i just restart the win and not touching the th2 cable. And that's it. eGPU is up and running. (there is spinning wheel but all it takes is 2-3minutes) PPS: Don't let the windows to go to screensaver or powersaver mode. It will disconnect the eGPU Work in progress Its a snug fit This cable i used to power box (yellow and black wire) Work in progress
  4. Hi, I was wondering if anyone has run into the same problem I am having. A fully functional eGPU setup on my NUC has started displaying the following issue following a failed Win10 update that caused the system to hang (it wasn't a driver update): 1) The system boots up perfectly without the eGPU and the TV gets a signal from the HDMI. 2) If the Akitio is connected, then the BIOS/POST appears on the HDMI output of the NUC, but the second windows loads, then both HDMI outputs (NUC's iGPU and the GTX750Ti) go black and the system hangs. 3) If the Akitio is connected to a running system, the GTX750Ti is detected in the device manager and appears as functional (no code 10/12/43), but then windows begins to stutter and locks up hard after 20-30 seconds. The display output from the NUC itself freezes, while the display output from the GTX750Ti is black. I have tried to salvage the system by reverting to a restore point, but that did not help. I reinstalled windows, but the new installation displays the same issue. I am somewhat perplexed, because this came out of the blue and screwed up my HTPC without any clear cause. I am wondering if using Setup 1.30 would help here somehow (perhaps by actively disabling the iGPU)? I am willing to wire the 25$ to Tech Inferno Fan for it (I did not need it before). Has anyone else run into Thunderbolt eGPU black-screens of this sort? Thanks! -Y.
  5. Hi everyone, I'm newbie here so if I'm posting somewhere wrong or smth like that just warn me. I search in this forum and also at google about "code 12" and "code 43" almost thousands times. Specially for exp gdc but couldn't find anything can help me. I looked for modded bios, whitelist.. At least I realized that there is no modded bios for my pc(I'm gonna write all supported bios versions down here). All cable connections are correct, I can see Nvidia GTX 1070 at device manager with error code 12 and sometimes code 43. I couldn't disabled my amd redeon graphics in bios, just uninstalled from device manager with files. Now my pc running only with Intel HD 3000 by own screen. I do not get any display on my 24" screen which one is connected to 1070 by HDMI. But when I boot my pc, 1070 fans are running with white lights are on GPU. But screen display doesn't show anything. Pc running with own screen. I have 350W PSU just for GPU.(170W needed) I tried to install nvidia driver, remove amd by DDU, run only 1x8gb ram(tried at both slots), remove wifi adapter from device manager with files, Anyone can help me about how to get result-fix this issue. There is no problem to disable pc own 15.6" screen. Just want to run my pc with good screen by 1070. Thank you since now
  6. First off I want to say thank you to the community here. I wouldn't have been able to do any of this without the hard work and dedication of everyone who blazed the trail before me and shared their experience. I wanted to post my success story in case others were trying to do something similar. Hardware 15" MacBook Pro Retina, Mid 2012 2.6 GHz Intel Core i7 (Turbo boot to 3.6 Ghz) 16 GB 1600 MHz DDR3 Sonnet Echo Express SE II Asus NVIDIA GeForce GTX 980 4 GB LG Ultrawide 34" 34UC97 curved 4K display [3440 x 1440 @ 60 Hz] Apple Cinema Display 20" (2006 or 2008, I forget) [1920 x 1200] OS X (worked on both 10.10 Yosemite and 10.11 El Capitan I've been successfully using my eGPU under OS X for over a year. Thanks to Goalque's Automate eGPU script. Really is super easy. Major props. Some thoughts, in no particular order Original setup was using the MBPr in clamshell mode in a Hinge Dock --> Did not work well, issues booting, internal screen stayed on Updates can randomly break everything --> easy fix with the automate eGPU script Very stable --> quite pleased with the success Windows 10 Just got this working last weekend. I originally used bootcamp, which on my device sets up windows to use MBR. Could not get it to work even with the help of Setup 1.30 / 1.2. Out of boredom I nuked the windows partition and re-configured everything to boot EFI. I eventually got everything working using the DSDT override. Some additional thoughts, in no order The integrated Intel GPU causes all sorts of trouble. Windows updates drives a lot without telling you. Causes blue screens. Needed to keep disabling the device in safe mode This slowed down and frustrated the process, often times I didn't realize the integrated GPU was causing issues I believe the DSDT override was done correctly, and after that everything began working correctly (the large memory device is in device manager, but there is nothing below it) My game of choice is Heroes of the Storm. Conveniently I can test it in both windows and OS X. It runs much better in OS X Seems to be CPU limited. In OS X Turbo boost is constantly overclocking to 3.4 GHz. CPU temp in the mid 90s. Fans at Max. (GPU does not seem pushed, fans slow). 50-70 FPS @ max res, mix of Ultra on more GPU intensive settings and Low on CPU settings In Win 10, Turbo boost was all over the place 2.8-3.2 GHz. Game was much choppier. 25-60 FPS. CPU temps were ~102. Same settings. I have screenshots of everything. Unigine Valley benchmarks in both OS X and Win. I'll add tomorrow. Realize this may not be a great guide for others trying to replicate, but wanted to share my success story as a guide post for others with similar hardware. And to say thanks again to the community. I've been an avid reader of the guides and other builds as I worked through mine. Feel free to ask any questions. I'll help where I can.
  7. my new Mac Pro installed OS X + Windows 10 (UEFI mode), system RAM 64GB i've already got the 980 Ti working in EL Capatin (using automate eGPU master v0.9.8) however, i just cant get it working in windows 10, just like this: and i got this Error 12 (Code 12), This device cannot find enough free resources that it can use i tried to disable my two D300 video cards, still, the 980 Ti wont able to start i searched a lot topics, find "DIY eGPU Setup" first, i used the DIY eGPU v1.3 setup, it came with these messages: since my Windows 10 is already in BIOS UEFI mode, and i can't change my partitions into MBR (OS X is needed) then i tried with DIY eGPU v1.2 setup, followed all the steps in setup-disk-image.bat and reboot my nMP I choose DIY eGPU Setup 1.2, hit enter, see what happend? dont know what to do now i contacted Tech Inferno Fan, but he's in hostipal due to road accident thus he can't give me any further tech support right now so, im here to asking for help
  8. Hy there! I have an interesting question that can help more people. If i extend the root bridge into 36 bit space that can allow me to use concurrently the eGPU and dGPU? That is important because due to some BIOS it's impossibile to disable the dGPU. If the dGPU isn't disable win 10 crash after the logo. Is that possibile?
  9. Hello techinferno-team, I decided to finally register on the site and in this forums as I have read a lot about eGPU implementations and actually tried to accomplish one by my self. Those are my parts: Lenovo Thinkpad t430 with i5 3320M, 8GB DC RAM, 160GB SSD, Intel HD4000 EXP GDC BEAST, Expresscard bequiet! 450 Watt PSU Windows 10 64bit. So far, so good - but it just won't work. Everytime I boot my Laptop up with eGPU connected, it loads the Windows 10 screen with the blue logo on it. After app. 2 minutes a little circle spins around, suggesting the PC is loading the OS. I waited to hours, the screen remained the same. Then I tried booting Windows up, then instering the eGPU. That does not work either, as the card is not recognized. I tried putting laptop to sleep, plugging eGPU in, then waking it from sleep. It just turns off. I also tried powering the PSU of the eGPU on when the windows logo appears, but the card is not recognized and the fan of the GTX670 spins like crazy. First time this appeared I almost thought I bricked the card. Then I tried another thing: I used the egpu with my old Thinkpad t500 on windows 7. I plugged it in, booted up, installed drivers, done. It works. So the eGPU components should work fine., I I am absolutely at loss here. What can I do to get this thing working? I have read like every article about eGPUs on T430 and on Windows10... But it just won't work. I would very much appreciate your help in this case; furthermore I hope this is the right place to post this in. If not, I apologize - this is my first post. I am not a native speaker, so if you do not understand something in my text feel free to ask, I will do my best. Thank you so much! daku I tried every setting advised in the existing troubleshooting guides at least twice, none of them worked.
