  1. Good day, looks like I`ve successfully bypassed the BIOS lock, to flash custom BIOS. https://firmwaresecurity.com/tag/ru-efi/ http://ruexe.blogspot.com Can someone provide an unlocked BIOS *.rom file of these one https://ufile.io/wb6fc what is the point of unlocked BIOS? 1)PSU can provide 330W(I`ve one from M18X R2), but laptop can utilize only 210-215W and hits powerlimit, what limits GPU overclock, extra 20-30W will be enough to handle i7-6820HK@ 4.1GHz and GTX 980M 1.2V @ 1430/2750 2)custom memory timings can do more from this laptop, but customizing is available only when modules with XMP is installed 3)When Graphics Amplifier is connected, GTX 980M is disabled, if internal GPU can keep running with desktop GTX980 reflashed with GTX 980M BIOS SLI could be tested.
  2. I decided to buy a 980M for my R2. I have gone down the rabbit hole in these forums (Here and notebook review) but most of it appears to be from 2012-2016. I am not planning on overclocking, and for now am replacing the 2x 675m sli (Alienware Tech support fried one of my 675M's with a thermal pad on the GPU, yes a thermal pad instead of paste, see photo.) with a single 980M solution. I have finally managed to get this site to send a confirmation email, then turns out I wait a week download the unlocked A11 BIOS. Do I even still need it? I will pay if I need it for sure to get it faster. What I'm getting at, is this still a thing? I have read that Nvidia added support for the R2 in their driver, so no modded driver is needed. Did alienware add support for maxwell with the A12 BIOS? I can't find a difinitive answer. Sorry, I have read so much about this the past week, but haven't come up with a cut and dry yes or no.
  3. Here are the M14x BIOS revisions A07 and A08 with all the menus unlocked, just as previously with A05. This has not been tested so far, as I don't own an M14x, if you want to test it flash it with the tool in the attached archive and please report back! Thanks in advance! After flashing I highly recommend to go to the BIOS menu and load the default settings! *************** If you like these BIOS releases, please consider a donation to Tech|Inferno. *************** As always with such mods... you're responsible for your machine and what you do with it. Edit: A08 confirmed to work, A07 as well. Thanks a lot for testing @alroar ! M14x [unlocked] BIOS A07.zip M14x [unlocked] BIOS A08.zip
  4. I have an M18x R1 running WIN7 PRO NV580M SLI, however second card was removed due to possible issue. I am running Ahmeds Unlocked BIOS A04. Since I removed the second card I am getting a power cycling issue, the battery charges fine and the system runs fine off AC power but when connected to AC with the battery in and as soon as the battery reaches 100% it starts cycling between on battery power and on AC power. I have performed a system restore. Restored to stock BIOS then back to unlocked BIOS. Pulled battery connected AC and then put battery back in when windows boots. Ran a power drain by holding the power button three times. Booted on battery alone, then booted on power alone. Nothing has worked. I am hoping someone has run into this issue and can help me. This is a new system to me and has some differences of the M15x I used to have.
  5. Hello everyone! I've run into a bit of a problem - I knowingly bought a 770M to replace the 660M I had previously installed in my M17R4, having done a bit of reading on the trouble it was to install - the clincher being that instead of the recommended 680M being ~£120 more expensive than the 770M I got for £160. I noted that I would need to flash an unlocked BIOS onto my board, but underestimating how difficult it would be to procure one. This site seems to be the only site hosting one. I followed the guide on this subforum as far as I could, but I don't seem to be allowed to download the BIOS itself, I'm assuming because I haven't posted enough. My question is, to save me from wasting £160, does anyone know of any alternative links or would anyone be able to upload the file for me? I mean no disrespect of course, this seems like a marvellous and useful site, and were there such a thing as a premium account I would definitely pay for the privilege to download the required BIOS file. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Cheers!
  6. Hello guys My notebook is a MSI GT70 2PC, need a BIOS with more options, unlocked, and mainly with options for the video card, since I want to disable the dedicated card, I downloaded the modified Xonar rom, but the base of it is a BIOS of 2012, and I do not want to use a BIOS so outdated, can somebody help me with that? Thank you
  7. Hello, i really need your help. I know there is a BIOS where the Advanced Tab is unlocked, but right now I have a modded BIOS which allows me to do some nice GPU Overclocks: http://forum.techinferno.com/acer/1846-acer-aspire-v3-5xx-series-bios-mods-higher-nvidia-gt640m-clocks.html Unfortunately, this BIOS doesnt have the Advanced Tab unlocked. Can anyone unlock it for me?
  8. Hi all, could someone help me to unlock my bios to get access to the hidden options? My laptop is Sony Vaio VPCF23A9E. i attach the original rom. Thanks a lot! afuwin.zip
  9. I have discovered some users being able to get into non- displayed bios settings on 7720 with 3610 processors, but haven't seen any success with 3630qm. I am looking for solution to somehow disable optimums functionality in my laptop. Is it big nonsense i am talking about? To have basically my system functioning fully on nvidia 650m and to be able to use nvidia interloop function for sharing video texture in between applications. I can do it correctly now, but only if using intel4000 chip which totally sux with its "32mb" vram. I feel like it may solve the problem. Or at least please explain me why it is not possible, or why is it nonsense question if it is
  10. Ahmed Mossam at bios-mods.com has uploaded an unlocked BIOS for the M15x, based on the Dell version A09. A very big thanks to him for his work!! Here's the link to the original thread at bios-mods: M15x BIOS unlocking request I have flashed this BIOS and the system works just as with the regular BIOS, the only difference is that there are several new menus accesible in the "Advanced" tab of the BIOS: -IGD - LCD Control Sub-Menu -SATA Control Sub-Menu -SATA Hard Drive The performance options have new sub-menus as well: -Plaform Thermal Configuration -Clarksfield QPI-Sub-Menu -Clarksfiled Memory Sub-Menu Unfortunately there are no frequency ratio options in the bios. Each of those has a couple of further submenus. Check out the pics of the screen in the spoiler for all details: Not every of the new options will be useful though, e.g. enabling eSata port multiplying won't do any good since the PM55 chipset doesn't support this feature. I haven't tested all the new options yet, but I'll definitely take a closer look at them. Instructions for flashing: - Download the unlocked BIOS files, they can be found here. - Download the BIOS A09 executable file (R293649.exe) from the Dell driver site and extract it and copy the files to the root of a DOS bootable USB drive. - delete the following files W6702M.A09, W6702MB.A09.bin, W6702MB.A09 from the USB drive - extract the .zip archive with the modded BIOS files and copy the three files to the root of your USB drive - rename the modded files (W6702M_SLIC.A09, W6702MB.A09_SLIC.bin, W6702MB_SLIC.A09) to W6702M.A09, W6702MB.A09.bin and W6702MB.A09 -Shutdown your system and boot from your USB drive -Type fa.bat and hit enter -follow the instruction on the screen, after the flashing is finished, the system will shutdown itself -restart your system and don't do anything, it will restart a couple of times before it will boot into Windows, don't worry. Everything at your own risk of course, I don't take any resposibility for bricked mobos. Crisis information should be available at bios-mods.com in case you mess up totally. Hope some of you guys test this as well and give some feedback. Again, a very big thanks to Ahmed Hossam from the bios-mods.com forums.
  11. This is a modified version of the M17x R3 BIOS A10, it brings back the SATA behavior of A08 and earlier, while keeping the features of BIOS A10. A lot of users don't seem very happy with the changes Dell made to the SATA performance of BIOS A09 and up, thus I created this BIOS. Just keep in mind one thing: Dell probably didn't change the corresponding settings in the BIOS for no reason, so it's possible that certain drives may have issue with this BIOS, I don't know. According to a lot R3 users, A08 brings a clearly better SATA performance on a wide variety of drives. It's up to you to decide what you need and what you want to use. Now you have the choice. Download link for BIOS A10 with the 'SATA fix', and unlocked hidden menus: M17x R3 BIOS A10 - unlocked & 'SATA fix' Read the included READ ME for further information and instructions. Load the default settings in the BIOS setup after flashing. User at your own risk.
