  1. Hey there, I have purchased a Force 1761 (MS-1761) laptop from xoticpc.com in 2011, but now the video card need replacement. Specs: i7-2630QM, GTX 570M, 8GB RAM The person in the repair shop said they can't replace the GPU however I started reading and while I found some people having problems with upgrading (especially with 770,780M cards) I have also read good things about 870M. Additionally: "Yes, the GTX900M Series runs without any problems in the MS-1761 Barebone. This Series works in all MSI Barebones." (source: http://forum.techinferno.com/msi/10710-gt780dx-upgrade-gtx-9xxm.html) Can you confirm that this is the case? If yes, would 870 and 970 both work? Or is there other or better options? Thanks a lot for any help Balint
  2. Hi - I'm hoping that someone has some information that will help me on this. I've gotten a 2nd hand M17xR3 system and I need to replace the motherboard. System passes all tests with no errors but suffers on startup from insane beeping (usually 2, but can vary or be nonstop for several minutes) and I am also experiencing what appears to be occasional minor random data corruption. Dell's info on the system indicates that this is an Alienware M17x R3 (Early 2011) Symptoms lead me to believe that this MB is either suffering from ESD damage or has the defective Sandy Bridge** chipset that affected MBs on these systems release prior to March/April 2001 (Dell_reaching_fix_pcs_faulty_intel_chipset) Current motherboard has PAR00 LA-6601P Rev:1.0(A00) stamped on it. CPU is Intel i7-2670QM. Out in the market I see 0GFWM3, GFWM3, 5VYM9 and LA-6601P parts for sale and can't seem to find any info on what the differences are. I've contacted Dell about replacing the motherboard but not being the original owner of the laptop they will not give me any information or assistance. These motherboards are not cheap and I'm concerned that I may buy a replacement that ends up having future issues. Thanks
  3. There are many places that talk about the idea of using the 2013 Alienware 18 screen panel or screen assembly on the previous m18x r1 & r2. What I would like to find out, definitively, is could this panel be transplanted into the older generation which honestly isn't the best quality. Alienware 18 has a PLS based screen made by Samsung, which will have all around a better picture as compared to most TN based panels (especially the one found in the m18x). What needs to be discovered: - Alienware 18 screen connector (after this has been answered we can continue to the next set of questions) Is it LVDS 40 pin? Something else? Next up: - Alienware 18 screen assembly dimensions and construction Is it possible to just use the entire 18 screen assembly? **PICTURES! **MEASUREMENTS! This should just about cover what we would need to then allow me, or someone else, to proceed with actual testing. Everyone's help would greatly be appreciated!
