2. Been playing some ARMA 3 Epoch & Exile with some friends lately and would like invite any ARMA 3 players on T|I to come join us. We're on Tech|Inferno's teamspeak (ts3.techinferno.com) so if you're interested, simply join TS and then poke me and I'll drag you down to our channel. Looking forward to seeing you and here's a short clip from this morning (we all died at the end but it was fun): http://www.twitch.tv/dirtyscrubz/v/35346776 (warning: not work safe content in video)
3. ARMA 3 is one of those rare jewels in gaming where the game was designed and built with PC gamers in mind. Unlike EA's Battlefield series which started out on the PC as a somewhat open platform only to become a victim of its success by evolving into a closed off series where people cannot mod the game any longer, Bohemia Interactive has taken the opposite approach by working more closely with the community that has helped it spawn some memorable and game changing mods such as Day Z, Epoch, Arma 3 Life, Breaking Point, Battle Royale and many more. With nearly 2 million copies sold since release, ARMA 3 has done exceptionally well coming from a small developer that has only a fraction of the resources other industry giants have access to. And the game looks to have a bright future ahead with the developers optimizing for it and adding more features in 2016. In their new video (found at the end of this article), Bohemia reflects on 10 important updates to the game in 2015 and 10 exciting features and additions to look forward to in 2016: 1. Release of Eden Editor - A 3D Scenario Editor. 2. Launcher based server browser - already live on the dev branch. It will help facilitate the detection and automatic download of mods. 3. Audio - improvements to audio fidelity and more features to be added. 4. Visual - update targeting ARMA Apex (originally for Eden update): An overhaul of game lighting configuration and introduce C shader and Screen Space Reflection technology. 5. Usability improvements - A variety of improvements such as switching weapons, interacting with objects, game difficulty and fixing long standing UX needs. 6. ARMA 3 Units - Introduce event organization, integrate parts of the service in game and make jumping into multiplayer quicker and easier. 7. Script improvements - Bohemia will continue to work closely with the community to bring additions, improvements and optimizations to scripting. 8. Scripted multiplayer - complete revive and dynamic groups by extending and finalizing their functionality. 9. Vehicle classes - ARMA 3 will see the introduction of new vehicle classes such as light strike vehicles and vtol aircraft. 10. Tanoa - The crown jewel of 2016 will be the release of ARMA 3's new and long awaited map. Tanoa is 100 square kilometers and takes place in the South Pacific Archipelago. I personally have spent more than 2000 hours in the world of ARMA 3 and years later I'm still not done with it. This is a testament to the game's extensibility thanks to the continued support of the developer and more importantly, the community continuing to mod it everyday with exciting new additions. 5. If you're visiting this website regularly then the chances are that you're an avid PC gamer. And if there's something PC gamers love, it is discounted new games--something the console crowd rarely gets. Green Man Gaming has a November 23% off voucher active right now that can be used on new select titles such as Just Cause 3. I have used Green Man Gaming extensively and recommend them as a good alternative to Steam sales and the best part is that most of their games have a Steam key. 23PERC-WTHGMG-ADVENT

Fallout 4 is finally here!

So it's finally here after several years, what do you think? Was it the worth wait or are you disappointed? Several websites have released performance and image quality data for the game. I found EuroGamer's Digital Foundry did the best job of it since they have a custom program that shows the differences in real time using video. You can watch the video here: Here's an example of a performance review from Guru3D that has some charts to look over: For performance optimizations, especially if you are using an AMD video card, it is recommended to adjust God Rays. For example, if you have an AMD GPU, the best way to get 60 fps at 1080p if you have a midrange card like the 290x is to keep God Rays on Low and then go to the CCC and set tessellation to 8x. If you are an NVIDIA card owner with GTX 970, you can set God Rays to high and you should be able to sustain 60 fps stable. Adjust accordingly if you have lower or higher tier cards from each company. Here's a gameplay video I made today when playing, I'd like to see what you guys have done in-game w/some pictures + vids as well:

Dishonored

This game has gotten pretty high reviews and deservedly so because I just finished it (high chaos, evil ending) and I loved every minute of playing it. I'm not the type to finish SP games either, I usually get bored and quit (e.g. Skyrim, Witcher 2 etc) but this game kept me intrigued the entire time which says a lot about it. The rune system worked really well and the relationship you build with the characters in the game determines how everything will play out. I hope they make a sequel to this because I think this game is up there with the Half Life series in how fun it is. Some spoilers: My biggest complaint with the Crossfire 7970M (12.8 WHQL driver) is that the UE3 streaming textures causes a lot of hitches. I heard this problem was mainly with AMD cards but I'll investigate further when my 680M SLI cards get here on Tuesday. I played the game with max settings in game with SSAO + enhanced AA enabled in the AMD control panel. Framerate was generally 60+ the entire time except for parts where the texture streaming took place (mainly during the beginning of a level) and it would cause hitching. My overall rating for the game: Fun factor: 10/10 Gameplay/Controls: 9/10 Replayability: 9/10 (multiple endings) Graphics: 8.5/10 Sound/Music: 9/10 Reviews: Metacritic overall: 91 IGN: 92 PC Gamer: 92 Gamespot: 90 Gamespy: 90 Edge Magazine: 90 Game Informer: 88

ARMA III: Altis Life

Ok this is a mission/mod of ARMA 3 that has sucked me in and I find myself playing it for hours at a time each day. The key to having fun in this game is meeting a group of people you get along with and can form a gang with because as a loner, its almost guaranteed you will get ganked by other groups for money and whatever loot you're carrying. If you are into persistent/MMO type games with battlefield style twitch combat, then this is the game for you. There is no leveling bs in this game, you simply join the world and decide what you want to do: civilian (who can farm apples, fish, mine ore, drive taxis) or you become a rebel/gang member that fights the other players who are police (these cops have the ability to put you in jail, ticket you and/or use lethal force). As a rebel, you get access to exclusive outposts that have higher caliber weapons and armor so you can take on the cops. On some servers, rebel gangs become "whitelisted" by the server once recognized by an admin and they can fight the other gangs for territory (e.g. towns, drug fields) and blackmail people for money and they are free to kill the police at anytime. Here's some videos I've made with the gang I run with, this server is on an older version of Altis Life (v 2.3) so it doesn't have lockpicking, taxis, EMS services, suicide vests etc in it but may shortly: Holding up guys at the diamond trader http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ob9Dvrptapo&hd=1 Iron bandits - hitting the iron trader and scoring big <object bgcolor='#000000' data='http://www.twitch.tv/widgets/archive_embed_player.swf' height='378' id='clip_embed_player_flash' type='application/x-shockwave-flash' width='620'><param name='movie' value='http://www.twitch.tv/widgets/archive_embed_player.swf' /><param name='allowScriptAccess' value='always' /><param name='allowNetworking' value='all' /><param name='allowFullScreen' value='true' /><param name='flashvars' value='title=ARMA%2BIII%253A%2BAltis%2BLife%2B-%2BIron%2BBandits&channel=dirtyscrubz&auto_play=fa lse&start_volume=25&chapter_id=3864064' /></object><br /><a href="http://www.twitch.tv/dirtyscrubz" class="trk" style="padding:2px 0px 4px; display:block; width: 320px; font-weight:normal; font-size:10px; text-decoration:underline; text-align:center;">Watch live video from DirtyScrubz on TwitchTV</a> Athira Chaos <object bgcolor='#000000' data='http://www.twitch.tv/widgets/archive_embed_player.swf' height='378' id='clip_embed_player_flash' type='application/x-shockwave-flash' width='620'><param name='movie' value='http://www.twitch.tv/widgets/archive_embed_player.swf'><param name='allowScriptAccess' value='always'><param name='allowNetworking' value='all'><param name='allowFullScreen' value='true'><param name='flashvars' value='title=ARMA%2BIII%253A%2BAltis%2BLife%2B-%2BAthira%2BChaos&channel=dirtyscrubz&auto_play=fa lse&start_volume=25&chapter_id=3862974'></object><br><a href="http://www.twitch.tv/dirtyscrubz" class="trk" style="padding:2px 0px 4px; display:block; width: 320px; font-weight:normal; font-size:10px; text-decoration:underline; text-align:center;">Watch live video from DirtyScrubz on TwitchTV</a> Rest of the twitch tv feed: Twitch

DayZ Alpha

Anyone play this game? It's an MMO FPS type of game where you're living in the zombie apocalypse and basically trying to survive against bandits and zombies. It started out as an Arma mod I believe but is now a standalone alpha that you can buy for $30 on Steam. Here's a video by some guy named Frankie which I've found pretty entertaining: Saving Morgan Freeman (hilarious video): Some videos by Morgan Freeman (Vectorbunny), so fucking hilarious:

Borderlands 2

I really enjoyed the first Borderlands and it seems the new one is getting 9/10 or higher ratings--so I'm super tempted to buy it. The only problem is the steep price, seems Steam has it for $60 and now the game also has some sort of seasonal pass that you gotta fork out more $$ to get additional DLC content. I really hate how gaming has changed into a world of micro transactions, back in the day DLC's used to be free and now publishers find every excuse they can to charge for minor content changes. Anyway, to get back on track, who has purchased the game and what are your impressions? I'm thinking of getting a copy from Greenman Gaming since they have 10% off the Steam price.
12. I ran across this Russian made game called War Thunder last night (in the process of downloading it) and the youtube vids + pictures look pretty bad ass. The combat area spans hundreds of miles, the graphics are gorgeous and its a WWII shooter--kinda like BF1942 was but on a much bigger scale. The game is supposed to incorporate navy, air and ground combat into the game as well though I don't think they'll have infantry combat. The air combat in this game looks AMAZING and is exactly what Battlefield should have been like instead of turning into a kiddy console shooter. Here's some videos: visit the Features section

Hitman Absolution Discussion

So I just got the game today and haven't gotten very far but I'm liking the game so far. I try to be as stealthy as possible but found sometimes I can't avoid killing targets, even if they're civilians. Hooked up my M18x to my 55" plasma and am using an Xbox 360 controller to play it, who needs weak ass consoles? Looks gorgeous with Ultra preset + 4x MSAA and thanks to the 680M SLI OC'd the framerate is pretty good (usually 40-60+).
16. So the game has some pretty sweet graphics, lets see how our systems fare. First up is my M18x with the specs + clocks in my sig. Requirements: 1. Keep control panel (e.g. CCC or NVCP) at default quality settings. 2. Use 1920x1080 px resolution. 3. Try to use the latest driver available (Catalyst 12.11 beta 8 + Geforce 310.64 beta). If you prefer using WHQL you may. You may OC as high as your system will allow and post your results. Game settings Ultra Preset (everything turned up all the way and all checkboxes ticked) + 8X MSAA: Ultra Preset + 4xMSAA: High Preset + 4xMSAA: We will look at the avg + min fps since the max can vary from test to test.

Saints Row: The Third

Wow what a difference a sequel can make! The last game was so full of bugs upon initial release that it turned me off from it and I didn't even bother finishing the game. This third one seems relatively bug free and runs fantastic on my M18x! The gameplay has been changed to be even more relaxed and arcade like which is exactly what I've been missing. Too many games focus on realism these days that they forget why we play them in the first place--to escape from reality and enter a world that's different than ours! The music, scripted sequences and action in this game are top notch, if I had to complain it would be that the weapons are a bit too weak. It takes around 5-10 bullets to kill an enemy at times but other than that, the game has taken on a very creative twist of the GTA world and has definitely put itself above or at least equal to the GTA series. So far, based on a few hours of gameplay, I'm already leaning towards a 9/10 rating. Here's a quick video I made last night:
