1. Reading about this news NVIDIA I was wondering if in the future can become a solution to overcome the lack of external interfaces for eGPU. Right now Nvidia cloud GPU appear to be limited for gaming (only Nvidia hardware as client) but curios if anyone tested a GPU cloud service provider using not just a game but a 3D application.
2. The essence of the case. I have a laptop Lenovo x230t tablet 12.5 "Touch HD i7-3520M 2.9Ghz 16Gb 250Gb SSD Win7 Pro. Item model number X230t. Processor 2.90 GHz Intel Core i7 I bought a video card Gigabyte NVidia GTX 970 and for him EXP graphic displaycard Beast Install the drivers supplied with the video card, and then download the new drivers and reinstall them. Device Manager windows sees both cards and built and installed the discrete. It defines them as functional. After installing the driver there were two panel settings Gigabyte_OC_GURU, GeForceExperience And the problems begin .... 3. hey guys, new to the forums here. so yesterday i traded my Xbox one (i actually bought it for 99 cents last year) for a co workers Alienware m15x, its got the core i7 820qm, 8gb ram, no hard drive (i threw a 500gb sshd in and imaged it) it had a gt 240m (i put a gtx 470m in it). the laptop is kinda beat up and will need a new bottom (like $15 on eBay) but i got the gtx 470m and the laptop for my xbox one so i dont think it was a bad deal. i installed the gtx 470m yesterday and it wasnt taking the card so i created a DOS bootable thumb drive and upgraded the bios. And presto she fired right up. i couldnt find the drivers for the card anywhere and the nvidia ones wouldnt work, so i used one of those driver utilities to find the drivers (the program seemed sketchy but it worked). so now i have the right drivers and everything however the card is running really slow, 50mhz clock speed, 135mhz memory clock. so thats where im at, im currently moving so i will wait on ordering the parts but i plan to get all new casing and a new keyboard. i tried msi afterburner and i cant adjust the clock speed on the card at all so im considering selling the gtx 470m since dell doesnt support it and getting a gtx 460m. I'll try and post some pictures later on tonight, luckily this isnt my main laptop so i can take my time on it (i use an Alienware 17 r5 as my main) anyways, any help with the upgrade would be hugely appreciated, and let me know of any other upgrades i should do to the laptop.
4. When I run 3D vantage and play Battlefield Hardline, the applications close if I have my PhysX set to GPU. If I move it to CPU it works properly.. Why is this so? Thanks in advance!
5. Well the inevitable has happened as a result of the GTX 970's 4 GB controversy. Someone has filed a class action lawsuit against NVIDIA and Gigabyte over deceptive marketing practices with respect to the GTX 970 alleging that they (NVIDIA) purposely marketed the card as having 4 GB Ram, 2048 KB L2 and 64 ROP when in fact it has 3.5 GB useable ram with 0.5 "spillover" and 1792 KB L2 + 56 ROPs in reality. It also states over 8100 people have filed a grievance with the FTC: The lawsuit also attaches a bunch of images from NewEgg that purportedly show off advertising of 4 GB GDDR5 and other relevant technical details that they claim were misleading. Surprisingly, it doesn't allege that the card isn't a true 256 bit card in the suit, at least I couldn't find it. Here's the link to the lawsuit: Nvidia lawsuit over GTX 970
6. ...Hi all. I felt i must post this info. Today i installed windows 10 preview again here on my P370SM. 680M sli.I wanted to try out a driver that "Cyris" posted on a guru 3d forum. (349.72) here is the forum : windows 10 directx driver 349.65 windows update - Page 3 - Guru3D.com Forums . here is the driver i downloaded : 349.65-desktop-win10-64bit-international-beta . It worked ok. When i came to set the nvidia control panel to my preferred settings there was the option for "DSR" I tried it and it seemed to work.I have not used DSR before but i defiantly felt that it was working. BTW i had to add my gpu hardware id the "nv_dispiwu.inf" file. Cheers! : )
7. So I just made the transition from red to green with my R1 and had a slight issue with the new SLI cable. In order to make it work it had to be routed over both GPU heatsinks, whereas the old crossfire cable was designed to fit over the palm rest, making right angles around the heatsinks. I placed some camera lens cleaning cloths between the cable and the heatsinks to provide some separation and just sticky taped them in place. I'm hoping this setup will work. Has anybody else experienced a situation like this? Do you recommend me keeping it this way or should I search for a SLI cable that has the right angles in it to go around the heatsinks? Cheers,
8. Picked up a couple EVGA GTX 980 SC's with ACX 2.0 coolers and compared to the Titans that they are replacing, the temperatures are WAY better (Maxwell ftw) as is the operating frequency. It's pretty awesome how far NVIDIA has taken 28nm and they aren't done yet as the big Maxwell (GM200) will probably arrive in 2 months in the form of Titan 2 and then probably GTX 1080i in June or so (I'll probably grab that). Anyhow, I added a side fan to the computer door to help exhaust heat since these are open air coolers and therefore dump heat into the case. Temps and OC are fantastic as I mentioned, with my OC so far hitting 1520 MHz on stock voltage and max temps being 75C and 63C respectively. These cards idle at 40C and 34C each so I'm really happy about that. I'll probably do a run of 3DMark in a few minutes just to see how they do but I'm not a hardcore benchmarker, I prefer to test the results of my overclock in games I actually play and then crank their settings up and see how much an OC benefits me. Here's my setup: Benchmarks: 3DMark GTX Titan SC SLI vs 980 SC SLI (980s are on STOCK voltage):Result Stock vbios. +130 core (1571 MHz core/1853 MHz memory), +12mv voltage, 120% Temps never got above 69C on GPU 1, second card barley hit 60C. My 3DMark run: 19155
9. NVIDIA 'Maxwell' VBIOS mods Here you find modified VBIOS versions for the mobile parts of the Nvidia 'Maxwell' series. The VBIOS versions in this post are tweaked for performance and versatility. You'll get almost complete control over the performance parameters of your GPU. List of available VBIOS mods: Nvidia GTX 970m - 'OC edition' rev0 - >> 6 GB Version << - modified by @johnksss & svl7 -> see attachments Nvidia GTX 980m - 'OC edition' rev0 - >> 8 GB Version << - modified by @johnksss & svl7 -> see attachments Screenshot demonstrating the capabilities of the 970m versions: >> Read the instructions carefully before flashing! << If anything is unclear after reading or if you have additional remarks, please post in the thread. Flashing: - Go to the device manager -> 'Display Adapters' -> chooser your GPU, right click on it and choose disable - Flash the VBIOS with mnvflash, a modified version of nvflash (see attachments). Here are detailed instructions for nvflash in case you aren't familiar with it. - After the flashing is done: Enable the GPU once again in the device manager. - Reboot Do NOT use driver 347.09, it's broken and useless and won't allow you to overclock, even with the stock firmware. Don't distribute the files hosted here outside of Tech|Inferno. Don't modify the files you download here. mnvflash_windows_5.196.zip Nvidia GTX 980m - 'OC edition' rev0.zip Nvidia GTX 970m - 'OC edition' rev0.zip

11. A new OS X 10.9.5 update has just been released. If you are going to update to the latest version, you will loose compatibility with the old OS X NVIDIA web driver. Do the following to re-enable your driver with the new update and new NVDIA web driver.1. Update to 10.9.5 2. Download and install NVIDIA Cuda 6.5.18 here http://us.download.nvidia.com/Mac/Qu...4.01.03f01.pkg You will not be able to install the web driver because it will not recognize your hardware; [EDIT] this step can be skipped if you downloaded a modded package. Follow the steps here on how to skip the hardware verification
12. Hi, I am new here but I have been reading the forums for a while. I have just got up the nerve to do my own eGPU. I am very confused about some things. I will ask them to clarify them even though I have read through the forums. I just cant seem to pin down with confidence that I know what I need to know. So here goes. My system is: Dell XPS L502x 1080p monitor 8gb Ram, 1TB HDD, Bluray Drive HDMI, mPCIe slot (which I think houses my intel wireless a/n/g/a/b dual band card), and mini-display port and 2- USB 3.0 ports, Card reader Nvidia Geforce 525m discrete gpu with intel hd3000 integrated gpu Intel i7 2670 qm 2.2 up to 3.1 ghz quad core processor --So here is my question: I have a gtx760 gpu to use for the egpu I will be ordering this to adapt the mpcie PE4L V2.1b + PE4L-PM060A and I have a 520 watt insignia pc power supply to power it. Now will these components work with my set up? Is this everything I need? I really do not know what I am doing here but I do everything myself so Im determined to do this as well. I think with the help of the genius minds I have been following on this forum I can do this. You people are very smart and helpful. Please let me know if I am totally off base with this set up. Thanks!
13. Hi guys, I've got an R1 M18x, and I've just swapped out two 6990m for a pair of 780m. I flashed the BIOS to unlocked A05 before I swapped and the change seemed to go well...until I tried turning it on. Screen black, and all I'm getting is two short beeps. I've taken the ram out, swapped the order etc but to no avail. Any idea what the issue could be? Thanks for any help, Mark.
14. Hi all, Been playing Watch Dogs crazily lately, though it is more frequently coming up with stutters and sometimes even crashes the game, saying that NVidia display drivers crashed. Running the game on MSI GT70 on Win8 with 8gb RAM and stock GTX680m using NVidia recommended settings. Game running of SSD. Kinda new to PC gaming, so looking for advice on PC / GPU performance mods or even game config settings. Thanks
15. Hey guys, recently came upon something that I thought I would share for others out there with the same issue.... Basically, I've had my eGPU setup for months and most of the games I play have been working perfectly (DX11, 1080p, 60+ fps). Some of these games include WoW, Bad Company 2, and other fairly recent titles. However, some older games have not worked properly this whole time. Those included CoD2/4/5 in particular. Even on 1600x900, no AA, etc I was struggling to maintain a stable 20+ FPS which confused me because they are less demanding than the other games that ran perfectly fine at max settings. Anyway, I seem to have finally tracked down the problem and it seems to be limited to the Call of Duty games I listed running off an eGPU setup. To investigate this problem, I went into the Nvidia control panel and noticed the Physx configuration was set to auto select, with my Core i5 and 650Ti both visible. I manually set it to the 650Ti and viola! All my CoD games running perfectly maxed out @ 1080p! I figured autoselect was the better option thinking the software would choose which option is better in terms of performance but it seems you will get better performance overall if you manually specify to only use the eGPU for Physx. My $0.02.

17. I was wondering if the Y410p supports optimus technology ? I heard it just switches to the iGPU when on battery and the nvidia gpu when connected ?
18. Hi there! My friend has a Packard Bell EasyNote TV44-HC notebook with a Nvidia GT630m 2GB graphics card (renamed 540m). The problem is that no matter what he do, if its temperature reaches 80 celsius degrees (before the BIOS update it was 75C), the GPU frquency drops somewhere to 230Mhz, and after it's cooled down to 70C, it raises back to 663Mhz (or 760Mhz [turbo boost I presume] or something like this), what is obviously not good. So the question is, how can I manually set a normal frequency (like 533 or something near it) to prevent the 80C throttle and to get a balanced performance? Or is there any solution to raise the throttle cap to 85C? In Nvidia inspector, the GPU frequency has been greyed out, so I can't set it to any value. I can't set the FAN speed manually higher, because there is no software that can see the FAN. So after some Furmarking, it fixes to 270 Mhz, and won't go anywhere until I shut down the notebook, and get out the battery for a minute. Please help. Furmark's performance fluctuacion and nvidia inspector problem can be seen on the attached screenshot. Thank you in advance.
19. Hello guys, I have the notebook Lenovo Y500 with 2 Gt650m. I want more Performance with the Notebook, because I want play games with better grafics. Specialy i want play Arma 2 and Arma 3 with better grafics. I ha overclocked the 2 GT650M with msi Afterburner. The GPU Clock is 925mhz and the Memory Clock 1275 mhz. My bios is locked because i dont can download the unlocked bios because i havent enough posts. So i want ask you if you have any tips for more performance. I hope you can help me guys. noesges
20. Y500 650M Overclock Thread I can not find any of my 3dmark keys... EVGA deleted them I guess. So I am using Valley from Uni Engine. I so far have a stable clock at 969mhz Core 2500mhz Mem Score on Extreme HD 1046 Stays around 70c. Increased playability of games a whole hec of a lot. But I have noticed small artifacts so I may either see if its throttling down, or if it just happens to be to high a mem clock maybe lower the cor to 950 and keep mem up. Let me know all your experiences! I did this with Afterburner, and of course unlocked bios. Nothing special though. No CP changes, or driver tweaks. I used to be much in to benchmarking but now I look at it this way, my car may go 150 but really where can I use it at that speeds?! So playability is where I am at on this project. I will update this accordingly, I may get a cooler, put IC Diamond compound on the parts, and ThrottleStop it. These cards can run good around 70-75c without much problems. Update your findings here as well!
21. I was unsure of which section to post this on, but I think this is where it might get the most visibility so here it goes. I really need help with this. http://www.dailymotion.com/video/x15dhnr_laptop-problems_tech" target="_blank">Laptop Problems by http://www.dailymotion.com/jfp555" target="_blank">jfp555 If it does not embed properly, here is the link: Laptop Problems - Video Dailymotion Is there a solution to this problem? The laptop seems to be working just fine and boots into windows and I can even make out the display, use the mouse, shutdown, but obviously it is unusable. Specs are: C2D T5850 4 gb ram 8600m GT Win 7 The fault seems to be hardware based. not software. Much thanks in advance.
22. Hy everone! Is there a unlocked vbios for the GTX 675M for under-, overvolting? Or is there a Programm for Nvidia vbios Editing? I Have only found One for AMD Chips and the newer Kepler Chips but none for Fermi. I`m using a Clevo P150EM if that is important. Thanks halo19fan89
23. Hi guys, I've gotten myself into a sort of funky pickle: I have installed a GTX770m in my MS-16F2 to replace the now antiquated GTX560m. After some heatsink modification on the mill and new thermal strips, the card went in quite easily. Now, my problem is that Nvidia's software, nor GPUz or any other install-able software will recognize the card. Nearly everything recognizes my display adapter as "Standard VGA adapter". However, when running Nvidia autodetect on my machine, it does detect the GTX770m. Additionally, I backed up the existing vBios on the card and the display adapter was recognized correctly, so I know its not just a matter of having a dead card. I already tried flashing my computer's bios with a newer and unlocked version. The flash was successful, but the video card situation hasn't changed. Does anyone have a version of the GTX770m vBios, or even better, and MSI specific copy? Any help in solving this issue would be greatly appreciated. Thanks gents
24. Like the subject title says, would you be interested in an article from Tech|Inferno that details purchasing and installing a 780M SLI in an Alienware M18x? We have old benchmark results with the 680M SLI + 7970M Crossfire which we could compare to it as well. Let us know!
