  2. NVIDIA has officially lifted the NDA for the GTX 1070 which will be priced at $379 for the non-reference I mean non-Founders Edition card and $449 for the Founders Edition. Starting June 10th, we should see Founders Edition cards hit the market first which will then be followed by custom AIB cards that will vary in price anywhere from $380 to $450+. The GTX 1070 has a 256 bit bus like it's bigger sibling the 1080 but has 8 GB GDDR5 ram clocked at 8 GHz giving it less bandwidth than the 1080. In addition, the GTX 1070 has been gutted by NVIDIA and is left with 15 SM (streaming processors) and 1920 CUDA cores. It also features 120 TMU (texture mapping units) and 64 ROPs (render output unit/raster operations pipeline) with a peak fillrate of approximately 202 Gigatexels/sec. The cooling unit is pretty much the same between the 1080 FE and 1070 FE that features the new polygonal shaped shroud and fan blower. Like the 1080 FE, the 1070 FE comes with a backplate which theoretically helps keep components cooler. The power delivery system of the 1070 has been cut down a bit more compared to the 1080 and is equipped with a 4-phase dual-FET design. NVIDIA has stated that the GTX 1070 is as fast as a Titan X in most cases which means it should match or exceed a base 980 Ti in nearly ever metric. Based on the reviews below, it seems NVIDIA was right on the mark. 3. With NVIDIA having now officially launched their next generation Pascal based GTX 1070 and 1080 GPUs, there are a number of AIB partner boards coming to the market soon. We have a video today by YouTuber Actually Hardcore Overclocking that examines different custom PCBs and helps break down the differences between the various boards and their power delivery designs. If you've read about additional power phases that will be available on AIB cards that are lacking in Founder's Edition but never quite knew what that meant, this video should help. View full article

  5. 3dMark11 Performance Preset Benchmark: http://www.3dmark.com/3dm11/11262792 Required items: 1.) Lenovo u310 (I have a Core i3 - Ivy Bridge, 8GB RAM) 2.) 65CN99WW unwhitelisted. 3.) eGPU (I used a EVGA GTX 750 Ti from another computer I had). 4.) EXP GDC mPCIe Edition adapter (got from eBay - banggood seller). 5.) ATX power supply (I used a 600W PSU from another computer I had). 6.) USB wireless. 7.) External monitor, keyboard, and mouse. Steps: 1.) Obtain and install a unwhitelisted BIOS. If you are unable to obtain a unwhitelist BIOS, I think it might be possible to bypass it with Tech Inferno Fan's Setup 1.x (may need confirmation as I haven't used it myself yet.) 2.) Shutdown computer and remove all USB devices, ethernet cables, power cables, card reader cards. 3.) Remove mPCIe wireless card and detach antennas. 4.) Attach EXP GDC external mPCIe cable to the former wireless slot and screw down. 5.) Attach HDMI end of the mPCIe cable adapter to the EXP GDC device. 6.) Attach graphics card to the EXP GDC device (I moved my laptop off the desk and onto the side shelf to make room on the desk for the monitor/keyboard/mouse). 7.) Using the power cable adapters that came with the EXP GDC device, I hooked in my ATX power supply's 20 pin and CPU 4 pin cables. Then hooked the other end (8 pin) into the EXP GDC device. My EVGA 750 Ti also required that I use an additional PCIe power cable (6 pin) in the top of the card. 8.) Then I attached my misc devices (HDMI monitor, USB keyboard/mouse/wireless adapter), and hooked in my PSU and powered it on (below is image of final product, also moved HDMI cable out of the way). 9.) Power on your computer and let it install the standard VGA drivers and then install your drivers (I didn't have to go in the BIOS for any graphics settings, which it doesn't have anyways, nor did I have to disable iGPU in Device Manager before the card was added). Extra Info: I found that most games will play on med settings with about 45 FPS with this particular card. BDO: Upscale on - Anti Aliasing on - SSAO off - med settings. Skyrim: Med-High settings. Fallout 4: Med settings. (EDIT 5/19/2016) > Images added.
  6. Hi everyone, I have an Alienware M17x with the unlocked A12 BIOS and a GTX 680m installed. For the past few weeks a weird issue started to happen with some programs (specially games) my screen would just start to act weird, ghosting, flickering and shit. I thought it could be somethig with the OS (used windows 7 for a couple years and never formated), so I decided to upgrade to Windows 10. The upgrade ran smoothly (I did a clean install of the OS afterwards and turned the BIOS settings back to the default), by default I was using the integrated graphics card, so far nothing weird was going on. Then I reinstalled the modded nvidia driver (the newest one) and disabled the integrated video card from the BIOS, set the display to PEG and booted up. The issue came back. In the print below it's possible to have an idea about what I'm talking about, if I hover something over the weird grey lines they will either disappear or change locations, the windows also blinks sometimes and some text can appear blurred until I select it. I'm really hoping this is not a physical problem, since I live in a 3rd world country it's really difficult for me to put my hands in a new video card... By any chance has anyone here ran into a similar issue? The problem is definitely with the 680m, because if I switch to the integrated everything runs smootlhy,
  7. TweakTown just released a new story claiming that NVIDIA rather than AMD will be the one powering Nintendo's new NX console which is scheduled for release in early 2017. More specifically, it was rumored that AMD's new Polaris in combination with an x86 CPU or part of an APU was the brains behind the new NX. Instead, the rumor is that the NX will be utilizing an NVIDIA Tegra SoC that uses the newest Pascal architecture. To add a little more salt to the rumor, Emily Rogers, an online journalist that has supposedly been privy to this sort of information in the past, is now stating the NX is not powered by an x86 architecture but rather a custom design that utilizes "modern chips". She doesn't specify what those "modern chips" are but if you take what TweakTown claims in addition to what she said and Nintendo's history of not chasing after the most powerful hardware, there's some plausibility to all of this. I guess we'll find out soon enough if Nintendo did choose to go with NVIDIA this time around and if so, expect a nice boost to NVIDIA stock if all this turns out to be true. View full article

  10. Hey guys, does anyone have the spare time to mod my laptops BIOS so that I can remove the limit of the sliders in MSI Afterburner. So that I can go above a max of 135 on the core, have the voltage and power limit sliders unlocked etc. If it can be done for free, I would much appreciate it, and donate in the future when I get some money. If you can do the task, plz reply and I'll upload my BIOS backup to RGhost if that's the site you guys upload stuff to on this forum. Thanks in advance friends!
  11. Hey guys, be sure to update to the latest Nvidia WHQL drivers, I can confirm they are stable and come without bugs. They are game ready for Forza 6: Apex, which you can download from the Microsoft game store that comes with your windows 8 or 10 software, its 100% free and it's the first game made widely available that uses Dx12. The performance-graphics ratio is pretty killer, old GPU's can manage High-Ultra settings with above 45 FPS all the time and it has adaptive graphics modes which change the graphics quality OTF to maintain the FPS target you set.
  12. So guys, what's your thoughts on the new latest and greatest from Nvidia. According to benchmark results, posted by Nvidia on their official site and released at the conference, the GTX 1070 pulls slightly ahead of the Titan X, which is a pretty good feat. considering that it costs $359, will you guys be settling for this or the 1080?
  13. So guys, what's your thoughts on the new latest and greatest from Nvidia. According to benchmark results, posted by Nvidia on their official site and released at the conference, the GTX 1080 pulls more performance than SLI 980's. Pretty impressive, although keep in mind the benchmarks were done by Nvidia, so they could be fairly biased. Are you guys gonna buy it on release?
  14. It’s about time we share first benchmarks of GeForce GTX 1080, new flagship graphics card that will be unveiled tomorrow by NVIDIA. NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1080, 8GB RAM GDDR5X at 10 GHz I think the most interesting detail about GTX 1080 is the new memory. NVIDIA has finally used 8GB ram for its flagship card. It’s no longer an exclusive to mobile solutions. Additionally, the GDDR5X modules are clocked at 2500 MHz (which is shown as 5000+ MHz in 3DMark). However the effective clock is 10000 MHz, which means the bandwidth is somewhere around 320 GB/s (assuming it’s 256-bit wide). On the GPU side we have a huge improvement in terms of frequencies. It is said that GTX 1080 can boost up to 1.8 GHz, with base clock around 1.6 GHz. At the time of writing we are not able to confirm the exact reference clock. For such reason I decided to avoid making comparison charts, so this post will essentially tell you what GTX 1080 is capable of and nothing more. NVIDIA Pascal Series (To be confirmed) May 5th 2016 NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1080 NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1070 NVIDIA Tesla P100 GPU 16nm FF GP104-400 16nm FF GP104-200 16nm FF GP100-890 CUDA Cores ? ? 3584 Memory Type 8GB GDDR5X 8GB GDDR5 16 GB HBM2 Base Clock ? ? 1328 MHz Memory Clock 2500 MHz 2000 MHz 352 MHz Effective Memory Clock 10000 MHz 8000 MHz 1408 MHz Memory Bus 256-bit 256-bit 4096-bit Memory Bandwidth 320 GB/s 256 GB/s 720 GB/s NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1080 8GB — 3DMark11 Performance Like always, we are only looking at graphics score. 3DMark11 Performance preset is rendered at 1280×720 resolution. GeForce GTX 1080 scores 27683 points, which is still above overclocked GM200 cards (~23-25k). Worth noting 3DMark11 is not showing correct GPU clocks, however the new driver already supports GTX 1080 by its name. http://videocardz.com/59558/nvidia-geforce-gtx-1080-3dmark-benchmarks

  16. Not sure where to post this so I just added it to general. I just upgraded my M17X R4 120Hz from 675m to a 980m and I'm having a problem I hope someone here can help me with. To start: It was installed correctly and successfully on Windows 10 (I wanted to start somewhere more certain). Everything worked fine and everything read fine (as far as the graphics card goes). After I was sure everything was working properly, I reverted to Windows 7. As I read, with the current unlocked BIOS A11 (posted on this site) it's capable of running 9xxM series in windows 7. When I installed 7 on this laptop soon after buying it (reformatted old HDD, moved to bay 1, inserted 500GB SSD in bay 0 and installed 7 OS on it) I installed selecting the UEFI option and the drive is in GPT. As mentioned, I have Unlocked A11 BIOS (thank you to the maker on this site!). Anyway, once I reverted to 7 it started to boot up and said it needed to run startup repair. I allowed it and it froze once the bar filled at the bottom. Upon restarting I tried once more.. same thing. I tried to "start normally" and it starts boot looping. I then changed "Load Legacy Option Rom" from disable to enable. This causes the 8 beep post issue immediately upon power on. This problem doesn't exist when this option is disabled. I then utilized the HDMI trick (I made a separate post for this the other day. Connect HDMI out to any screen and it will cause post on the laptop screen [but not on the external device]. Can then immediately disconnect once post has occured and works fine with no error or beeps). This let it boot up and I'm able to get to the desktop and everything works fine. Can even run screen at 120Hz. I ran diagnostics on the card, checked drivers.. everything is reading correctly. This is workable, but far from an ideal solution as I need to have a cable and some kind of HDMI screen available just to boot up every time. I have two option here and I'm hoping someone can provide a little guidance one way or the other. I can either fix the boot looping issue on "Legacy Rom - disabled" (it hangs on classpnp.sys when I try safe mode if that information helps at all). OR, I need to find a way for it to post when "Legacy Rom - enable" without connecting to an HDMI device (just plugging in the cable doesn't work. It has to be connected to something on the other end). For the first, I have tried start up repair and tried repairing using my WIN 7 disc but it doesn't actually pull up the menu. It just shows the windows loading screen and then freezes after a while. For the second I have tried changing different video options in hopes it will post on boot without connecting to an external or tried to find a way to keep the HDMI port active without something being in it. I can make no progress with either of these as I'm unaware exactly what exaclty the selections change. I currently have it set to PEG. Also, I have tried bios reset through removing all power sources and the 2032 CMOS and holding power button 30 seconds. Didn't help. Any help or guidance would be greatly appreciated. Feel free to ask any questions you have that could assist in ascertaining the source of the problem in either instance. As a last resort, I could go back to 10, but I would really rather not. The R4 (in Dell's words) isn't being tested for compatibility. Many features don't seem to work, and overall I just much prefer 7.
  17. NVIDIA's Pascal is on it's way and should be available sometime in June based on current leaks. One of the first GPUs may be a full GDDR5x GP104 based GeForce 1080 GPU and we will almost assuredly have mobile variants shortly thereafter. AMD hasn't given us nearly as much information on Polaris except their performance/watt demo a few months ago but we're fairly certain it is priming for release as well. With the new generation of GPUs quickly approaching, do you plan to upgrade to either of them upon release? Why or why not?
  18. Hi, I have a Macbook Pro Retina 13" (Late 2013) with: - Haswell i5 4258U - 8 GB DDR3-1600 - Iris 5100 iGPU - 256 GB SSD - Thunderbolt 2 I built an eGPU using the Akitio Thunder2 PCIe Box, I tested it with an EVGA GTX 750 Ti SC and it was working perfectly. The card was PCIe powered using a 120W PSU (12V, 10A). All I need is a graphics card powered only by PCI-Express slot. I was thinking about a GTX 950 LP (new models which draw 75W directly from PCIe). In your opinion which one is better? - ASUS GTX950-2G (will it fit in the Akitio?) - ASUS MINI-GTX950-2G - MSI GTX 950 OCV2 - EVGA GTX 950 SC Alternatives: - ASUS Strix GTX 750 Ti with 4GB GDDR5, which will allow games like COD BO3 to run high-res textures, but has less CUDA Cores than GTX 950; - Wait for Nvidia Pascal/AMD Polaris mid-range GPUs
  19. First of all, sorry for my English. I have purchased a graphics card gtx 970m, for my laptop msi GT70 0ND. I get the following error: The PCI \ VEN_10DE & DEV_13D8 & SUBSYS_110C1462 & REV_A1 \ 4 & 31a1af22 & 0 & 0008 device requires more installation. The driver of graphic if I leave that is installed but in shaping the games I get default intel graphics. You can help ?, please Thanks

  22. Hi, I've got a Thinkpad X61 (C2D, 2GB RAM) running Win 7 Pro SP1 to which I'd like to connect my eGPU. I've made my own PCB (MXM <-> mPCIe adapter) so I'm testing it, but I have too many variables for the moment. This is a clean install of Windows. I have an NVIDIA Quadro K610M card and have installed driver package 364.51. I have done the Large Memory DSDT override successfully and conquered error 43 using the PCI dump in Setup 1.30. It detects the GPU fine and initializes it, once I get to Windows everything *seems* to work, but only if I disable my internal Intel GPU (ok for now, I'll fix that later). Device Manager tells me I have a working NVIDIA card. GPU-Z detects it fine as well. The issue I'm having is that I'm not getting anything at all on the VGA port. I realize this very well might be a HW issue, but I'm not convinced yet. I would like to try to use the NVidia Control Panel to verify what's going on, but I can't open it. nvcplui.exe is running in the Task Manager, but I don't get anything else. I read that this is a known issue with no particular fix and I wanted to see what folks here thought, given that this is being used for an eGPU. By the way, the normal "Adjust resolution" dialogue doesn't detect any 2nd screen, but then it seems to be specific to the iGPU (which is listed as the hardware under "Advanced") so it shouldn't work anyway. Is there a way to get the built-in Windows Control Panel to detect / use the new GPU? Any input is appreciated, and further clarification gladly provided. Thanks! Rafael
